Glowbot - I do agree he is feminised. But I don't have a problem with feminine gay men because I think they have a right to be represented on TV as much as straighter acting gay men, for want of a better expression. There are all kinds. However, I wouldn't say this is the totality of his character or personality all the time.

I still maintain they both have a good mixture of feminine and masculine characteristics in both their personalities.

If some of your anger about this comes from the belief that it is being done to make them more heteronormative to the wider audience, again, I can understand this, and I think there might have been a bit of this going on - however, it hasn't worked as the homophobes are well and truly out in force over them now.

People were very disturbed by the sight of Syed in a towel, apparently. So was I of course, but for entirely different reasons. :sleep:

Course you're not! You're lovely. I agree, there is a fine line and totally get why this annoys you. And I don't think anyone wants to turn Syed into a woman. It is a real issue in general though - and I don't think it's as simple as some gay men hating women. Why are gay men who 'bottom' seen (by some in the community) as less than a man? It's a slippery slope is all I'm saying (badly, probably).

Exactly, I cannot understand people that wanted Syed to stay with Amira, he's gay how could he have done?! It would have been extremely unfair on Amira and also on Syed.. if he's gay why would they want them to stay together eurgh :sleep:

Ah I'm quite excited for the Yusef bits although he kinda annoys me and the whole thing with Denise and Zainab does too, chryed are going to be involved aren't they.. I don't know I don't like Yusef like what he does but I quite like the character The tanya and max bits.. I love affair story lines so I think I'll enjoy it but I do agree that those two shouldn't have yet another one!

It is precisely that attitude I hate, that they are seen by some, (not all), as less of a man. I don't feel like this at all, and hate that logic.

In my opinion it does link back to a kind of misogynistic viewpoint, but it's such a complicated thing to explain I can't be bothered to get into it all.

You know, this is what I have been thinking. Christian is, in many respects, the child of the relationship. Impulsive, blunt, demonstrative, cuddly. Syed is the adult, sensible, rational, controlled. Life will be fun after they adopt - Syed will, in the words of many others (usually women) have two children, not three.
