There is a certain episode I am really not looking forward to. I think its original title was The Dollhouse. I am utterly terrified of dolls. I am really, really not looking forward to it.

Dolls are creepy. But clowns are worse.
My wife collects dolls. And toy clowns. Feel freee to drop in if you're ever in Suffolk, Rostaria-we'll have some wine, put Barbarella on the DVD...

(seriously-if you've never seen Barbarella-Don't!)

I think I will politely decline your offer. I think I have seen Barbarella can't remember though.

Jane Fonda menaced by cute little girl dolls with razor sharp snapping jaws saying 'mama' ring any bells?

Thats the one i'm most looking forward to, looks brilliant!

Can't say as there are any i'm not looking forward to, probably less enthused about the Corden one, nothing against the actor (unlike some on here), just was sort of less keen on The Lodger than a lot of people on here, so obviously less keen, but still looking forward to it if that makes sense!

I am sure it will brilliant but I think it will be the first time I won't want to watch an episode on my own.

I have reservations about Nazis in doctor who. I hope it's dealt with responsibly.

my sister was afraid that her dolls would hurt her for neglecting them. she left them, when she and my mother moved out after my parents's split up.

the china dolls have sat on a shelf for years gathering dust, just waiting for their moment to attack.

I was terrified of them after watching an episode of the xfiles as a child. but I got over it in about a week.

Not sure what you mean by this. It's DW not Schindlers List. No need for reverance or a history lesson if the plot doesn't demand it. Let's face it, Nazis have been fodder for a bit of good knock about action for decades now. Raiders of the Lost Ark anyone? I don't really think there's much need for the episode to be bookended with a visit to the Holocaust memorial museum and an embatassing speech from the Doctor about what a naughty man Hitler was. That would feel clunky and out of place.

have to be honest I'm looking forward to all the remaining episodes with equal anticipation simply because I know absolutely nothing about them.

I'm looking forward to all of them. doctor who is the best program on tv, since this new series, didn't really care for the last one as much

. I don't really care about any other show.
Spoiler

I want to see the Nazi one. I don't understand how, we can go from finding Amy's current daughter, to Nazi Germany on motor bikes with her future daughter, and hitler at the helm. sounds exciting. I'm thinking it's an ulternate future.

Doctor Who has never been a show that would offend anyone. The events of the holocaust and the world wars are still fresh in peoples memories. I am confident that Hitler will barely feature.

As I said, I've got reservations. For a start, I'm not particularly fond of film and television that reproduces the Nazis as cartoon villains, and just because it's been done before doesn't mean it was necessarily ok then or that it's ok to do again. More problematically though, is how do we resolve the doctor not intervening in the holocaust? It leaves us with this really unpleasant narrative fiddle, in which (as I see it) the only way to work it is to have the holocaust as a fixed point in time: ie, the systematic murder of six million people is necessary and required, and effectively endorsed by the doctor. The ramifications for the character are enormous.

You're right though: the visit to the holocaust museum/speech by the doctor would be a really unpleasant, glib way to resolve either of these problems. I don't know how else they can do it either though - it's going to be really tough for them to get it right. Which is why I'm anxious about the episode.

well it could be, that the doctor is dealing with her at a seperate time. a whole different issue, and not really part of the episode as such.

while dweedle dum and dweedle dee, and dweedle river, are somewhere else. I expect they just get lost while River is trying to take them home.

When you put it like that I see your point actually. It's an interesting one. Again I know nothing of the episode beyond its title so its all speculation but I just cannot see anyway they can tackle it but to have the Nazis portrayed in a similar way as they were in Indiana Jones. Like you say to do anything else would pose massive problems and considering its likely to concern a continuation of the River plotline I think any chance of a pure historical is zero. The title alone is much more Inglorious Bastards than World at War.

Spoiler

I don't think the doctor will be there, he'll be in the episode, trying to get Melody.
it will just be, Amy, Rory and River. might not even be the real nazi germany. Motor bikes, don't really fit into a plot based on, well the real nazi germany..
