As I said, I've got reservations. For a start, I'm not particularly fond of film and television that reproduces the Nazis as cartoon villains, and just because it's been done before doesn't mean it was necessarily ok then or that it's ok to do again. More problematically though, is how do we resolve the doctor not intervening in the holocaust? It leaves us with this really unpleasant narrative fiddle, in which (as I see it) the only way to work it is to have the holocaust as a fixed point in time: ie, the systematic murder of six million people is necessary and required, and effectively endorsed by the doctor. The ramifications for the character are enormous.
You're right though: the visit to the holocaust museum/speech by the doctor would be a really unpleasant, glib way to resolve either of these problems. I don't know how else they can do it either though - it's going to be really tough for them to get it right. Which is why I'm anxious about the episode.
