A relative has recently bought a Tosh Tele, (28" - still 4:3 ratio "square" one though) And where it says:

I looked in Argos and noticed the Alba's and a Hitachi had had exactly that style of font etc , also the menu's of the Toshiba and Alba look the same too. Plus the remote is plasticy on the Alba and Toshiba - didn't see on the Hitachi. Although, they are not part of Alba plc. They anything to do with each other . Or just a coincidence?

Im sure they are either the same company, or they have bought that design, the thing is there are very few 4:3 TV's being made, and VERY few, being designed, as people move to widescreen.

Don't know about Toshiba but some Hitachi, JVC, Bush and Alba TV's are made by Vestel in Turkey.

as are the budget Toshiba's.

It's more likely that they're using the same character generation chip rather being made in the same factory.

Stranger things have happened though...

Toshiba and Hitachi are not part of Alba Plc. My Pacific TV shares the same menus as Toshibas and Albas I have seen.

Quite right, I mis read Technology Guy's post; I thought it said "Although, are they not part of Alba plc" instead of "Although, they are not part of Alba plc".
