when is it ok to dye my hair?

Hi all, well im trying to save money, so i bought a Clairol nice n easy foam dye for my hair, was i bit worried as i have a few blonde streaks in, and the dye colour was a medium brown.

However its worked ok, looks a lot darker than the box though, more of a dark brown, bordering on black, and the grays are still there, so it hasnt done a good job of shifting them.

So i was wondering how long i should be waiting before i can put another dye on in a lighter shade to get rid of the grey, or should i just admit defeat and go back to the hairdressers.

I don't know if that that brand is semi-permanent or a wash out, but you won't be able to lighten it with another dye so you can either wait for it to wear off or go to the hairdresser but they may not want to lighten it as they won't know how it will react with bleach. If I were you I'd wait as it will wash out and fade and after a few weeks it may look more like you expected. As for the grey coverage look for a brand that offers 100% coverage next time, Castings I believe gives good coverage although some grey hair is really resitant and never really gets full coverage.

I suggest go to a hairdresser as its newly applied colour they might be able to remove it by the process of hydration rather than the oxidation which is what Nice and Easy has done. If you put another colour it won't LIFT the colour you have on now and the ends will look darker if not darker even and you end up with brighter roots a truely uneven result. Or if you don't want to go to hairdresser at all then as the previous poster says just let it grow and wash out but it will take a long time.

And yes Med Brown is actually quite a dark shade, the way they name colours is quite misleading, as a dark blond is really brown.

^This so much! I bought a really light brown hair dye box from Clairol and it came out JET BLACK! Mind you,I already had black hair and put that dye in. I didn't bleach my hair or anything. And also, does anyone ever bring in a picture of a celebrity's hair colour(say the colour is light brown) only for the hairdresser to dye it and have it come out really dark chocolate brown? Happens to me all the time! I can never get light brown hair!
