Corrie chiefs had kept quiet about the extra twist in Tina's demise, but they had warned that the episode would feature a big shock.

Tina will now fight for her life in hospital until Monday night's double bill, which sees her slip away when doctors are unable to save her.

The coming days, weeks and months will see Rob desperately try to escape detection as the police focus their attentions on Carla and Peter as possible culprits.

Hit play below to watch Marc Baylis's recent interview with Digital Spy about Rob's future on the cobbles:

How silly. Poor Lloyd.

Throughout her time on the cobbles, Andrea has actually been leading a double life and has a husband, who she has been married to for 20 years.

Lloyd later arrives to dispel the confusion but is heartbroken to discover Andrea has been juggling a second life.

So he hasn't been suspicious for the last few months that his wife has been out most evenings and slept away from home on most of those nights?

You'd think you'd be surprised if your wife of twenty years suddenly started acting out of character, and she can't say she'd gotten a job or something because they'd have a joint account after all that time. What a load of old toss :/

Coronation Street killer Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) says Tina McIntyre's (Michelle Keegan) death is only the start of the story

The killing is merely the start of the drama, however. In the scenes before the push, Peter was spotted visiting Tina's flat, Tracy had left her own engagement party (to oversee a drop-off of suspect goods, though the residents won't know this), and after Peter had confessed his wrongdoing to Carla she'd stormed off to the flat - which means there are a few guilty-looking people on the street.

"Rob's not a stupid man, he knows where to the point finger, where to play the innocent, where to play different cards that will protect him and cast shades on other characters," says Baylis.

"This is the beginning of massive new chapter for Rob," the actor continues. "There's the psychological effect, as he didn't plan for this to happen. It's not just, 'He's a killer', we see how he deals with it and there are a lot of twists."

After quickly disposing of the murder weapon, Corrie's latest killer now turns his attention to accusing someone else of Tina McIntyre's murder

As suspicion swirls around a troubled Weatherfield, the killer capitalises on the confusion by accusing Peter Barlow - his own brother-in-law and fiancé's sibling - to conceal his own guilt.

Aww that is so sad I am probably in a minority but I would have liked to have seen Carla with a baby, so heart-breaking for her especially having already seen the little heartbeat on a scan.
To hear she would have had a girl I could imagine her with a mini-me

As Tina's condition deteriorates, the pressure is on for one resident as the screw tightens on them. But have the police got the wrong person, and is Tina's attacker still at large?

Meanwhile, when Kal lets slip to Nick that he was with Leanne when they found Tina, Nick puts two and two together and realises they're an item. Storming into the Bistro, he shouts at an upset Leanne. Will this be enough for an angered Leanne to end it with Kal?

Elsewhere, the girls are shocked to hear that Anna slept with Phelan to save their family, but she makes them promise not to tell Gary.

Also today, when Dennis calls at the hospital to see Tina, Rita thaws towards him - giving Dennis a glimmer of hope.

I'd have liked to see Carla with a child too. That's really sad.

I'm assuming he frames Peter and that ties in with Peter leaving?

What would have been a good twist was to have Rob leaving her in the street for dead. Then when Tina starts to stand up Carla comes along and after a verbal exchange picks up the lead pipe and hits her. You would then have a very good plot , Rob thinks he has killed her. Carla knows she has done it and everyone else thinks its Peter.
You could reverse Carla and Robs positions. Carla pushes Tina off the balcony and Rob kills her with the pipe.

I think it is sad, too, about another baby lost. More seem to have been lost, by miscarriage or abortion, than have been born.

Maybe this isn't the first time she's done it.

That's terribly sad. Poor Carla has a rough old time ahead of her, it seems. I would have preferred if she could have had the child so that at least something good and redemptive would come out of this horrible mess.

I think it's ridiculous just how much misery Carla has. Whether you like the character or not, she never seems to have anything remotely happy happen, and if it does it only lets 5 minutes.

I think that would have been better as well. Probably best with Carla pushing her off then Rob with the attack as that way they wouldn't make Carla the killer.

Agreed it does seem too much and it's the second of Peters potential offspring to be lost after Leanne miscarried.

Tracey losing her twins was the worst because there was hardly any follow up. I know she tried to blame Becky but something like that should have had a longer lasting effect on both her and Steve

First two husbands die, possible love of her life Liam dies, one husband tried to kill her, fiancé raped her and now she's been cheated on and her brother is a killer

There might even be some missed off there

I think id want a drink too . They never seem to let her be happy for long. That said , the same can be said for most soap characters .

I can't see what they could have lined up for her next. I think she,ll want another baby as her biological clock is ticking ...
