The Hat previews Corrie's Autumn .....

ROY

'We're going to see Roy struggle through a period of time where every other week represents an anniversary, reminding him of Hayley. And as Roy's a man who's emotionally relatively inarticulate, this is all going to bubble up.
We'll see that come pouring out in a quite shocking episode. He'll do something stupid and totally out of character but it will be the catalyst for him to start moving forward.'

TRACY/ROB

'The wedding will be exciting and terrifying. I've worked on about 20 soap weddings and this will be one of my favourites. All the secrets and lies from the past will come pouring out and people are going to be faced with big choices. It's a really exciting week.
I always thought Rob should've come clean to Tracy about killing Tina because she's been there and done it when it comes to murder. The one thing we've also seen for Tracy is her love for Rob is totally genuine. Her moral compass is also very different from other people. If she learnt the truth, she could still marry him....'

PETER

'There are going to be some very relieved faces at the trial. The flip side is there will be complete heartbreak for others. But the trial, in a sense, is what triggers the end game in the Tina murder story.
It's going to be an incredibly heartbreaking and it's an exit that Peter doesn't want to make but absolutely has to. It's going to leave Simon especially utterly heartbroken. It's really sad.'

KYLIE

'Her exit's going to be horrible, emotional, powerful and dirty. She sometimes makes stupid choices and now she's made the decision to take drugs.
What we'll learn is it's all about self-worth. It's about her looking at her background and going "I'm not this middle-class mummy living in a semi with this nice family around me. I'm better off without them!"'

STEVE/MICHELLE

'Steve's health issues are going to cause big problems for him and Michelle. I wanted to give them a big, moving, powerful and dramatic story.
This is a story about a man who's having a mid-life crisis and suffers depression. But it's not an issue story, it's a love story. It's about how Michelle copes with a man suffering serious depression. Ultimately, I hope it's going to be an optimistic and uplifting story.'

BETH/KIRK

'Beth and Kirk's wedding will be an absolute joy. It'll be visually spectacular in it's own unique Tinker way and for a couple of episodes, we'll meet the extended Tinker family of Beth's sister and Sinead's mum, plus grandma. It's going to be a riot!'

JASON/EVA

'For Jason, we're on track with a story about serious sibling rivalry.
With Catherine going on maternity leave, it means we can ramp it up a bit in terms of the story and push it further. Jason's going to end up with a lot of regrets but it isn't his fault and over time he's going to realise he's been utterly manipulated.'

LUKE, STEPH, DEV, JULIE

'Luke and Steph will see romance heading their way in very different stories and very different ways.
There's also romance for Alya with Gary but Kal won't be happy with his best mate shacking up with his daughter.
Dev and Julie will also become romantically involved. It's going to be one of those Corrie stories that's full of wit, warmth and has a bit of silliness.'

Hmmm, not sure I like the sound of Roy, Kylie or Steve's storylines.

I'm all for giving Steve a serious storyline but "serious depression" seems a bit much.

Roy's a very moral person so I hope his behaviour isn't too much out of character but given recent character transplants I'm not holding my breath

Monday 6 October:

Liz is caught in a lie when Tony realises she's visiting Jim in jail and he angrily confronts her at the prison gates. Inside Jim offers her a deal, while Tony packs his bags to move out of the Rovers.

Tensions bubble between father and son with Zeedan still not happy about Kal's relationship with Leanne.

Gary's made up when Alya kisses him.

Deirdre faces a dilemma....

Wednesday 8 October:

The huge pressure of Peter's impending trial mounts - then explodes dramatically with multiple bystanders caught in the aftermath!

Angry David's actions stun Kylie...

Gary is upset when things don't seem to be working out the way he'd hoped.

A distracted Steve finds himself saddled with a new cause for concern....

Friday 10 October:

Steve visits the doctor with his health concerns but the appointment also brings other issues to light, what could they be?

Kylie appears to be reliving the past, while a stressed-out David voices his concerns about her recent behaviour.

Carla is left stunned and shaken by a shock confession.

Kirk and Beth have wedding woes....

COMING UP:

- Everyone is on tenterhooks waiting to hear the outcome of Peter's trial...

- A letter breaks lonely Roy's heart.

- Out-of-control Kylie continues on her downward spiral, where will it end? Paula teases that she'll find herself in the darkest place she's ever found herself.

Can't wait for Peter's trial to finally be dealt with, although I hope he is found not guilty.

Not looking forward to the Kylie stuff. It saddens me what they have done to the character, she did so well last year what with working in the Bistro and finally growing up. Everything has to be ruined as usual.

No mention of St. Muddy and Sophie; Hooray. It is sad what they have done to the character of Kylie. I didn't her when she came in to the show, but she redeemed herself and had became very watchable. The autumn episodes look good.

I am not homophobic, before anyone suggests that I am, but I do feel uncomfortable about this:

Going by the dialogue the other day, I have a feeling Peter may be found guilty and Rob will go on the run.

Peter assured Jim he will be out in a couple of weeks, in a sort of way to mock him. But I think the tables will turn (knowing Peter's luck) and he will be found guilty. Carla will somehow discover Rob is the culprit, and feeling the net closing in Rob will do a runner. And this will leave the door open for both actors to return in the future and possibly finish up the storyline.

According to a spoiler Rob reveals everything to Carla.

Yeah. I wonder if she will give him an ultimatum and get Rob to leave Weatherfield and move away. It must be a hard decision, protect her brother and betray Ken and Deirdre who have been nice to her. She had kept Tony Gordon's secret of killing Liam for half a year, things might repeat again.

Would the producer be allowed to do this storyline with any other religion?

Another question. why isn't Sean having a sexual relationship with the minister of the Mosque, the Temple or the synagogue?

The spoilers all sound half decent but we all know that what we'll actually see on screen will be utter drivel.

That is a very good question. Who knows, probably not IMO.

If Sean starts whinging about how the vicar can't be with him because of his faith, then I'll be rolling my eyes. Can't they tell positive stories about Christians instead of focusing on the tension between Christianity and homosexuality?

With Zeedan set to be going off for private prayers in future episodes (according to Blackburn I think), I expect a bit of fun to be poked at the Islam faith, otherwise it's going to feel like there's an unfair prejudice against Christianity in the writing of Corrie.

I doubt it. Considering the problems there were with Salman Rushdie's 'Satanic Verses' and with current problems in the world. Only people of some religions, in some jobs, some temperaments, some hair colours e.t.c. can take being made fun of, otherwise sensitivities and political correctness have to be observed.

Even so, a certain level of respect for Christianity is missing in Corrie. Didn't Roy lambaste Emily Bishop when she tried to reassure him about Hayley in the context of God and Heaven, for instance? There's something sad about seeing it get that sort of stick on TV. Roy's turmoil was understandable, but you know what I mean.

I wonder if people of other faiths are unphased when they see those sort of scenes, or if they find themselves relating in some way to my discomfort.
