Oooh sounds very good! I'm actually looking forward to Michelle coming back to see what she brings to the Frank/Carla storyline. I think Carla will do well to have Michelle in her corner

Very surprised that Carla has fired more staff though?

Looks like Devil Child Faye is going to give Anna and Owen more grief

Sophie/Sian/Amber looks good

I'm wondering whether this means she's considering dropping the charges? Way back when we first heard about Stella telling Carla she was raped too, there was something about Carla being tempted to drop the charges?
But anyway. Yet more sackings?
Glad Michelle's back, though. I've really missed her friendship with Carla.

I think Michelle is going to get the business back on track whilst Carla is away, and hopefully Carla will return ready to fight, with the business in a slightly better position so she has less to worry about. The rape and attempted suicide is still so fresh in her mind, no wonder she is struggling. We forget that two weeks ago she found her life not worth living and tried to end it, although she said herself that she shouldn't have done it and it was stupid, the thoughts she had in her mind must be still be there and she needs to deal with them and recover mentally from the rape, which I think she has not managed to do recently as she is busy fighting for the factory,

I think maybe Michelle just hadn't heard she'd been raped.

No I don't think it is that. I think it is clear she has been raped. I personally have no doubt that she has been raped. I think if in doubt it is the tiny details that Alison King's performance shows that confirm it.

I reckon the declaration is either that she has been raped - although I don't really think that is a declaration, or that she is giving up on underworld, or she is going away.
I love tea

I'd have guessed, going by the later Underworld spoilers, it's something to do with Carla shutting Underworld down. But equally would that be a 'shocking declaration'?

Interesting to see Michelle's take on it as remember that Michelle had a meeting with him before she went away with Ciaran.

Perhaps Connor blood will enable Michelle to make Underworld great again.

Yes, wasn't Maria's part in the storyline originally intended for Michelle but had to be changed when Kym Marsh went on early maternity leave?

Frank is furious when Izzy and Julie down tools and follow Michelle out, as she steps up her campaign to save Underworld. Sally berates Jeff for cashing in on Rosie's ordeal, and the arguments resume when Sophie is spotted wearing an engagement ring. Lloyd heads out to ask Chris to join the poker night.

Going to miss Carla but it will lovely to have Michelle back and Alison King deserves a break for the all the amazing acting she has been doing!

To be honest I think we could all do with a break from Carla, her storyline is becoming too much and overpowering.

Hm, I think the story is very intense, but I think Alison King's acting is such a pleasure to watch that it is worth it

I disagree. I would quite happily watch her in every single episode and I don't think the story's becoming overpowering at all. She's hardly going to get over something like that in a month, is she? It was always going to be a long story.

They did need a break from Carla. Other characters have storylines going on that need screentime. It was why we got a break from Fiz and Becky earlier. The viewers get bored if you don't give stories a rest. Also the court case isn't for a while so there's not much for Carla to do in every episode, there's only so much trauma and factory worries they can show.

The Websters have got numerous storylines going on, Eileen has, Cheryl has, Michelle has an engagement to end. They need Carla's screentime right now.

Did you mean "they don't need Carla's screentime right now"?

as well as giving Carla a break, the actors obviously need a break. The only thing that annoys me about the lengthy breaks is when corrie acts as if no amount of time, or a much lesser period than in reality, is indicated. Like when one week holidays turn into month disappearances. I'm all for storylines being played out in the background and for us not to need to see the characters, as long as there is progress.

No I meant what I wrote. The other storylines need the screentime right now that Carla would take up.

She isn't the only character on the show. There are loads of other things going on that need moving along and resolving too. It's hardly a tragedy if we don't see her for a few episodes.

Have I missed something? Why would Frank be furious?

I am assuming that Carla fires them, and they go and work with Frank perhaps :/ I'm not sure though as Julie seemed adamant that she wouldn't

Sorry, I misunderstood you and then you misunderstood my misunderstanding!

I thought your "they" was referring to Corrie, so i thought you meant that Corrie didn't need Carla on the screen right now. I see what you mean, and I was agreeing with you in my original post, it just didn't come out that way!

While that makes sense, you'd have thought a tiny detail like that would've been mentioned in the spoilers.

Carla sacks them all, so they go to Franks factory

Coronation Street welcomes back Michelle Connor and Ciaran McCarthy next month as they return to Weatherfield with big news to share.

Michelle (Kym Marsh) and Ciaran (Keith Duffy) are only planning a brief visit to announce that they're engaged, but as they arrive back, they're stunned to discover that Carla is in turmoil.

With Underworld still facing financial ruin due to Frank's recent actions, Carla (Alison King) is unable to pay her workers and when they complain about this, she snaps and fires them all.

As Michelle and Ciaran return to the chaotic situation, Carla opens up over everything that she's been through recently. Feeling pushed to breaking point, Carla says that she can only see one way out of her current mess - and that's to drop the rape charges against Frank.

Michelle quickly pleads with Carla not to let Frank off the hook, offering to take charge of the factory while Carla goes off on holiday to clear her head. Will Carla listen?

Thanks;

what a very strange thing for them to do. Completely out of character, I'd have thought. But, when you're out of a job, it's understandable
