Coronation Street boss on Rob Donovan return: 'He's lost a lot of his humanity'

Coronation Street is preparing to welcome back Rob Donovan very soon, but it's definitely not good news for the Connor family.

Producer Stuart Blackburn spoke about Donovan's return in an interview with The Sun's TV Soap magazine, hinting that his reappearance will signal a "disaster" for those in his sights.

"It's a relatively short-term [return]," Blackburn said, "but you'd be amazed what a bored guy on the inside – who wants money and vengeance – can do when he puts his mind to it.

"He's had a lot of time to think things through while he's been in prison, and Carla and Tracy remain in his sights. After all, these are the two women that got him sent down."

He added: "Rob has lost a lot of his humanity and he's got nothing left to lose. He becomes a puppet master and that's going to be a disaster for the Connor family."

I still hate the fact he was made a killer. Stupid storyline.

Such a shame Gary had to tell Alya's family about her indiscretion - I thought he'd grown up a bit

Looking forward to Mary's scenes with Brendan - I hope he's worthy of her

I see Sophie's and Kate's paths are to cross. That didn't take long. Caz better hurry back

Anna worries when she realises that Gary never came home last night. Convinced that he's in trouble, Anna heads to the factory and confronts Alya. Hanging her head in shame, Alya admits that the wedding is off as she slept with Jason behind Gary's back.

Zeedan lies in wait for Jason at the builders' yard, clearly angry. Zeedan suggests it's Jason's fault that Alya had sex with him, but when Jason is quick to point out it was what Alya wanted, Zeedan sees red and punches Jason.

Meanwhile, Kylie remains cold towards David. David assures her that he's not proud of what they did to Callum but they had no choice. Eva is also upset after learning that Jason slept with Alya, so she suggests to Kylie that they should go and get drunk together. David is worried that Kylie might spill the beans to her best friend.

Elsewhere, when Ken offers to help Emily sell her charity poppies, Nessa grabs the chance to spend some time with Ken and offers up her services too. After a successful afternoon selling poppies, Nessa drags Ken for a celebratory drink. Cathy is disapproving.

Also, Norris mocks Mary's interest in the supernatural. Mary is defensive and reckons he's jealous of her friendship with Brendan. When Brendan calls in the Kabin and invites Mary for a drink, she is thrilled but Norris is peeved.

Finally, having discovered a leak in the ladies' loos, Liz is forced to ask for Tony's help.

8:30

In a rage, Zeedan threatens to push Jason off the balcony. Spotting the commotion, Alya and Eileen rush to Jason's rescue. Alya assures Zeedan that she instigated sex with Jason and it wasn't his fault. Zeedan lets go of Jason and turns his anger on Ayla, disgusted by her behaviour.

Yasmeen suggests they all talk about what has happened, but Sharif can't bear to look at his granddaughter. Alya feels terrible. Later, Zeedan finds Alya in the Bistro staring into an alcoholic cocktail. He points out that getting drunk isn't going to help, but will he be able to offer her the support she so desperately needs?

Meanwhile, over cocktails, Eva presses Kylie as she wants to know why she has fallen out with David. As they get drunk, will Kylie spill the beans?

Elsewhere, Ken regales Nessa with stories of his teaching days and she is clearly smitten. Cathy confides in Audrey about how she is worried about Nessa getting her claws into Ken, as she has a terrible track record with men.

Also, Brendan joins Mary in the pub, where he has her enthralled with tales of the supernatural. When Brendan's phone beeps, he says it's a message from his mother and he has to go. Mary is disappointed but they agree they'll meet again.

Finally, Steve is furious to find Tony mending the plumbing in the ladies' loos and throws him out, telling Liz that he'll finish the job.

Wednesday 4th November

With the aid of an online video, Steve sets about tiling the ladies' loos. When his hard work fails to pay off, Liz is forced to enlist Tony's help. She makes it clear to Tony that he's only there to fix the tiles and then she wants him gone. Tony tells Liz how sorry he is for all the pain he's caused and begs her to give him another chance. Will Tony break down Liz's defences?

Later, Steve is upset that Liz has allowed Tony to do the tiling. When he spots her giving him a pint and chatting away like nothing has happened, he is further angered.

Meanwhile, Izzy is furious with Alya, pointing out that Gary has disappeared, Jake is missing his dad and it's all her fault. Alya arrives home upset and announces to Yasmeen and Sharif that she is moving out as she knows what a disappointment she is to them. Yasmeen begs her not to go, but will Sharif be able to offer Alya the assurances she so badly needs?

Later, Anna calls at the Nazirs' and angrily reveals that Gary has gone to stay with his dad in Hamburg and Alya has ruined his life.

Elsewhere, making out that she was just passing, Nessa joins Ken, Rita and Audrey in The Rovers. When Nessa hears that Audrey is short-staffed, she offers up her services - explaining that she's a trained stylist.

Also today, when Mary reveals that she and Brendan plan to spend bonfire night on a ghost walk at a nearby stately home, Norris is scathing.

Finally, Sophie is thrilled when Kevin presents her with a 21% share of the garage for her 21st birthday.

Thursday 5th November 8PM

When Fiz overhears Tyrone telling Kevin how he wishes he had cancelled the Lapland trip, she is furious as she realises how much debt they're in.

Later, Chesney, Sinead and Craig join Fiz and Tyrone at Number 9, where they hold their own indoor firework party for Hope and Ruby. As Tyrone breaks down, telling Fiz how scared he is for Hope and how he just wants to make her happy, will she be able to forgive his mistake?

Meanwhile. Brendan and Mary set off for their ghost walk. Brendan suggests that Mary should leave her mobile phone behind as it could interfere with the spirits. Dev confides in Sophie that he's worried for Mary's safety as she has gone off with a weird bloke without her phone. At the stately home, Brendan and Mary wait nervously in the attic and they're startled when the door suddenly bursts open...

Elsewhere, knowing Liz's liking for Rod Stewart, Tony tells her that he's got tickets for a tribute act in town and wonders if she'd like to go. Liz tells Tony she will attend the gig with him, but Steve and Michelle must never find out.

Also today, how will Dev react when Sophie breaks the news that she'll be leaving the shop as she is going to work for her dad?

Finally, Nessa arrives for work at the salon and instantly rubs Audrey up the wrong way. As Nessa rattles on with stories of her hairdressing career, a customer sneaks out without paying.

Friday 6th November
7:30

Nessa styles Mary's hair at the salon while wittering on about Ken, much to Audrey's annoyance. Nessa then calls in the café and quizzes Roy about Ken's likes and dislikes. Cathy worries that poor Ken doesn't stand a chance.

Later, Audrey confides in Rita that she has grown very fond of Ken, but also feels disloyal to Deirdre. Rita encourages her to seize the day. Will Audrey tell Ken how she feels about him?

Meanwhile, Gail arrives back from Milan with Bethany and explains how Sarah changed her mind at the last minute and decided to stay. When Marion calls at Number 8 with a box of Max's toys, Gail sympathises over the disappearance of Callum. How will David and Kylie react when they find Marion enjoying a cup of tea with Gail, asking about access to Max?

Elsewhere, all dolled up for her date with Tony, Liz lies to Michelle - telling her that she's off out with Erica who needs cheering up. When Erica calls in the pub, Liz quickly hustles her out of the door and Erica bemused. Liz admits that she's got a date with Tony, but Erica reckons she's playing with fire.

Also, Dev is impressed to hear that Kevin is expanding his business and has bought one of the arches. Later, when Erica moans to Dev about how demanding her mother can be, Dev suggests they meet for a drink later. Will Erica accept?

Finally, Tyrone resolves to give the girls the best Christmas ever.

8:30

Audrey calls at Number 1 intent on revealing her true feelings to Ken, but she is shocked to find Nessa there enjoying a glass of wine. Audrey leaves, embarrassed.

Later in The Rovers, Audrey is upset as she confides in Rita how Nessa appears to have got her claws into Ken. Will Rita be able to persuade Audrey to open up to Ken, or is it too late?

Meanwhile, Gail lays down the law to David, telling him it's only fair that Marion should spend time with her grandson. However, when Marion approaches Max, it's clear that he's scared of her. An upset Marion realises that it's best if she says goodbye to Max, as it's obvious he is frightened because she is Callum's mum. David is relieved, but Gail and Kylie are heartbroken for her.

As Marion says a tearful farewell to Max, Kylie feels terrible but David is glad to see the back of her. Appalled at David's callous attitude towards Marion, Kylie tells him to stay away from her.

Elsewhere, Liz and Tony arrive back from the gig having had a wonderful evening. They share a nightcap in the builders' yard and Tony tentatively kisses her. Liz heads home leaving Tony hopeful that they might have a future. When Sean lets slip that he saw Erica and Dev in the Bistro, will Liz be forced to tell Michelle and Steve of her date with Tony?

Also, over a drink, Erica tells Dev that her brother is moving in to look after their mother. With more time on her hands, she now needs to find a job. When Dev offers her work in the shop, will Erica accept?

I read some theories that Liz is only getting back with Tony so he ends up selling his share to her and she dumps him. If this is true
