Having returned from his morning run, a smug Nick spies Robert outside the bistro looking dishevelled and clearly the worse for wear. Andy, Steph and Zeedan prepare for lunchtime. They discuss the situation with Robert and how he's hit the bottle and seems unable to cope. Picking up a tray of burnt canapes, Robert orders Zeedan to do them again. Zeedan quits his job and storms out. Nick takes Leanne to look at some new restaurant premises. She is horrified to discover Nick is planning to set up right next door to the bistro. Leanne despairs when Nick then enjoys telling Robert of his plans to put him out of business.
Jason phones Todd from Thailand and tells him that Phelan has come up with a great investment opportunity for him. Todd warns him to steer clear. Phelan calls at No.4 and asks Sally if she can pull a few strings on the Planning Committee regarding his new development project. Spotting Sally's partially built desk and shelves, Phelan offers to build them for her. Sally is grateful and agrees to speak to her colleagues at the council. Spotting Phelan leaving No.4, Todd is suspicious.
Determined to forge a career in the police force, Craig sets off to attend a Special Constable Information Day. Proud, Beth sees him off. When Tracy muses that Amy could never join the police force because of her family's criminal record, Beth visibly pales and Tracy realises she's hit a nerve.
In the factory, Sinead suggests to Eva that she and Aidan should consider renting Carla's flat. Jenny overhears, giving her food for thought. Eva tentatively suggests to Aidan they should get a place of their own and Carla's flat would be perfect but Aidan reckons it's too soon to move in together. Meanwhile, when Johnny suggests they could work late together, Jenny points out that a man in his position should have his own place and he should consider renting Carla's flat.

Robert pulls up in his van and a police car pulls up behind him. The officer explains they've had a tip off and suspect him of drink driving. Craig chats to the officers and explains that he intends to join the force. Having failed the breathalyser, Robert is arrested and driven away. Nick watches with glee while Andy and Steph realise they have no choice but to close the bistro. Under Steph's glare, Nick admits he reported Robert to the police. Robert returns and, pouring himself a whisky, tells Steph and Andy he's looking at a fine and a 12-month ban. When Robert wrongly assumes Zeedan to have dobbed him in, Steph is forced to admit it was actually Nick. Meanwhile, Nick admits to Leanne that although he wants revenge on Robert, he's deadly serious about his new business and wants her to be a part of it. But they're interrupted by a furious Robert who rails at Nick for shopping him to the police.
Having overheard Sally talking about Phelan's development proposal, Todd wades in and warns her to make sure it's water tight as she wouldn't want any dodgy deals to backfire on the council. Sally is grateful for his advice. When Sally underlines the need for total transparency, Phelan masks his irritation, realising this is down to Todd's interference.
Craig works on his police application form and asks Beth if there have been any convictions in the family. Beth lists a couple of minor offences but is she hiding something more serious? Beth lies to Craig and assures him she's posted his police application form.
Johnny tells Aidan his plans to rent Carla's flat. Aidan confides in Johnny that he's planning a surprise mini break for Eva. Kirk takes a message from an estate agent saying that Mr Connor can pick up the keys to his new flat. Assuming this to mean Aidan, Kirk passes the message onto Eva who's thrilled. Johnny reveals to Jenny he's put the wheels in motion to provide them with their own little love nest. Jenny is delighted.

Leanne implores Nick to bury the hatchet with Robert and move on. Taking Leanne's advice, Nick confronts Robert and tells him he's ditching his plans to set up a rival restaurant and wants to call a truce. Robert is taken aback and suggests that Nick might like to buy back a share of the bistro. While the arch rivals haggle over percentage share, Steph summons Leanne who wades into the argument and suggests they split the bistro 50/50. Nick and Robert finally agree on condition Leanne returns as their manager. As Nick and Leanne head home, Nick suggests they go on a proper date, but mindful of her condition, will Leanne agree?
Johnny invites Kate, Aidan, Maria and Luke to his house-warming party. Aidan reminds him he's taking Eva on a surprise mini break that evening but promises they'll call in for a quick drink. Aidan enigmatically tells Eva to meet him at Carla's flat later and pack an overnight bag. Eva is thrilled, convinced he's going to ask her to move in. An excited Eva arrives at Carla's flat with her suitcase. Aidan is bemused as he explains it's Johnny's house-warming and he's booked them a surprise mini break at a spa hotel. As the penny drops, how will a humiliated Eva react?
Having found his application form in Beth's handbag, Craig demands some answers. Beth makes out she's just overprotective and worried because it's a dangerous job. Suspicious, Craig wonders if Beth has got some dark secret which is why she doesn't want him to join the police force. Beth covers and insisting he has her full support, reluctantly posts the application form.
Gemma tells Dev she wants to improve herself and suggests she could become manager at the kebab shop. Dev is scornful but later shows Gemma an article about the 'Good Neighbour Scheme', suggesting she should give it a shot. Sally meets up with Phelan and Vinny in the cafe to discuss the details of their planning application. When a hungover Alex is slow with their order, Phelan is quick to haul him over the coals. Sally is horrified.

When Caz confides in Luke that it would have been Kate's mum's birthday today, Luke suggests she sends Kate some flowers. Caz agrees it's a great idea but she's skint. Luke agrees to order the flowers and Caz is grateful, instructing him to order roses but no carnations as she loathed them. Luke calls in at the flower shop but mistakenly orders carnations for Kate with the message "I know what these meant to your mum. Caz". Deeply upset, Kate shows Sophie the carnations and explains how her mum always thought they were bad luck and Caz knows that. Kate confronts Caz accusing her of intentionally hurting her. Caz is horrified to realise Luke sent carnations by mistake. Maria rails at Luke calling him useless. Luke storms out.
Leanne starts work back at the bistro and Robert is clearly pleased to see her. When Nick clocks Robert and Leanne enjoying a laugh, his jealousy is evident. Nick quizzes Steph, convinced Leanne is involved with Robert. Steph refuses to be drawn leaving Nick more suspicious than ever.
Izzy arrives home from prison and is touched to discover Gary ha organised a welcome party. When Faye announces that Izzy and Gary are back together, everyone's thrilled for them whilst Gary masks his guilt.
Gemma calls in the corner shop and tells Dev that she's signed up for the Good Neighbour Scheme and has decided to focus her good works on Rita. Gemma calls in the Kabin and offers to do Rita's shopping for her. A bemused Rita insists that won't be necessary. Aidan calls at Eva's flat and apologising for the misunderstanding, assures her that he hasn't ruled out living together but he's just not quite ready yet.

Having followed Luke outside, Maria continues to tear a strip off him. Luke storms off into the night. Telling Caz she's creeping her out, Kate orders her to stay away in future. Caz shows Maria some concert tickets she bought for Kate and suggests that rather than waste them, they could go together but after her spat with Luke, Maria insists she'd prefer an evening in by herself. Aidan calls at Maria's flat and they share a moan about Luke and Eva. Aidan explains that he visited his mum's grave today but was constantly bombarded by texts from Eva. Maria is sympathetic. When Eva hears that Aidan was visiting his Mum's grave, she's mortified, realising that's why he was ignoring her texts. Getting stuck into the wine, Maria and Aidan reminisce about childhood memories and soon they're kissing passionately, Luke and Eva clearly forgotten. As Aidan and Maria pull their clothes back on, Caz returns to the flat.
In the bistro, Leanne helps Robert set up for the speed dating night. They clearly enjoy each other's company and Nick and Steph clock their closeness. Pleased with the successful night they've had, Robert suggests a celebratory drink but, making a waspish remark about business and pleasure, Nick leaves them to it. When Nick and Leanne head home, Nick accuses Leanne of falling for Robert. Leanne assures him that's not the case. Nick begs Leanne to reconsider and give their relationship another go.
With her party in full swing, Izzy tells Beth how miserable she was in prison, how much she missed Jake and how good it is to be home. Having seen the last of their guests out, Izzy leads Gary to the bedroom telling him she needs to feel his arms around her. Gary reluctantly follows.
After helping Rita unload her shopping, Gemma steers her into the Rovers and orders her a drink. Rita wonders what Gemma's after. Gemma explains she's sick of being a no mark and that's why she's joined the Good Neighbour Scheme. Impressed, Rita buys her a drink. Audrey and Freddie lure Gail and Michael to the Rovers hoping to reignite their relationship but their plan backfires when Phelan upsets Michael and Gail assumes it means he still holds a torch for Eileen.
