Maria's a hairdresser not an actor and yes people will notice.
You do know that CS is a drama and not real life?

Something Avon is pointing out with that post!! Maria is the character, not the actress!!
It's the previous poster you need to be pointing this out to!!

Quite right.

I obviously read it out of context.

Bit worried about this. Maria's acting has been bordering on the comatose for 15 years. Will anyone notice?

http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/23/corona...ng-up-6080354/ Villains are scheming in the land of Coronation Street – and the consequences are huge for those caught in the crossfire. Caz needs a roof over her head and that means Maria Connor gets a wound to hers while Pat Phelan ups his game and reels Sally Metcalfe in – but Tim has his doubts.
Elsewhere, it’s time to come clean for both Leanne Tilsley and Jenny Bradley and neither of them get the reactions that they were hoping for while Beth also has a secret to spill, leaving Craig Tinker in shock.

Why would Maria feel stupid for someone burgeling her house and knocking her out?

http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/24/corona...wrong-6087464/ Coronation Street will air these scenes in coming weeks as we get more flashes of the old David. He is not going to let this rest until he has his day with Clayton and producer Kate Oates recently suggested that the storyline would culminate in the rumoured Street stunt in October.

Leanne has decided that it’s time to come clean with Nick as they continue to prepare for the arrival of their bundle of stress joy. While Nick tells Leanne that he doesn’t care what they name the baby so long as it calls him daddy, Leanne is stressed as Liz continues to interfere and try and persuade both her and Steve to have the real dad as part of the baby’s life.
After Leanne tears a strip off of Liz, she eventually relents and apologises to Steve, admitting that the last thing she would want is for him and Michelle to split up. But the situation has given Leanne food for thought over being honest with Nick.

Beth, Chesney, Kirk and Sinead fuss over Craig on his milestone day and Tim takes his protegee for his first legal pint in the Rovers but as Craig later goes through his cards, his day takes a turn for the worse when he discovers a letter from the police.
As he reads that his application to join the force failed as he didn’t disclose a family member’s convictions, he confronts a sheepish Beth who is forced to admit that Craig’s dad has been in and out of prison all of his life – after being shopped by her!

Thanks haggy.

Eva instructs Aidan to pack his stuff and move it over to her flat, then heads out to find Maria. Aidan masks his concern. In the salon, Eva and Audrey needle away at Maria, suggesting that she should never have split up with Luke. Maria finally snaps and storms out, telling Eva that her relationship with Aidan won't last.

Furious after her exchange with Maria, Eva is even more put out to discover Aidan hasn't even started packing.

Meanwhile, Maria and Liam walk Ozzy on the Red Rec and they're shocked to find Caz sleeping rough on a bench. Explaining that the army has kicked her out, Caz hopes Maria will take pity on her. However, Maria points out that she's already had her fingers burnt once, so she hands Caz some cash and tells her she'll have to sort herself out.

Later, things get worse for Caz when a kid approaches her on her bench. While he distracts her, his mate steals her rucksack. Caz is at the end of her tether.

That evening, finding the door to her flat open, Maria enters with trepidation as a burglar lurks in the shadows...

Elsewhere, having cast her eye over Phelan's development proposal, Sally assures him that he has her full support. However, when she finds out from Tim that the proposed development will mean the knocking down of the community hall, Sally tells Phelan and Eileen that she may have to withdraw her support. Phelan is furious.

Also, Jenny is loved up after spending the night with Johnny, but she tells him she'd better get going as they wouldn't want anyone to spot her leaving his flat. With Johnny out at a meeting, the girls down tools, produce an array of snacks and sit back to watch a film in the factory. Jenny is appalled.

Finally, Gary is concerned for Bethany's welfare and asks Craig to keep an eye on her.

8:30

Shoving Maria out of the way, the burglar makes a run for it. Maria falls, cracking her head on the edge of a table. Soon afterwards, Caz calls at Maria's flat and is horrified to discover she's been attacked. While tending to Maria's wound, Caz phones the police to report the burglary.

The police question Maria, who breaks down as she relives her ordeal. Caz comforts her. Scared at the thought of being on her own, Maria asks Caz if she'll stay over. Caz is only too pleased to act as Maria's rock, but is there more to this than meets the eye?

Meanwhile, Sally explains to Phelan and Eileen how the building he intends to pull down currently houses a film club which Alex attends. Realising he needs to have Alex on side, Phelan takes him for a drink. Phelan calls at Number 4 with Alex in tow and explains to Sally that he's had a rethink and would like to include some extra affordable housing. Tim remains sceptical.

Elsewhere, having brought in the last of Leanne's things, Nick cracks open a bottle of fizz and tells Liz, Michelle, Steve, Leanne and Dev how happy he is that they're back together.

Also, when Kate warns the factory girls that Johnny is on his way back, they quickly kill the film and clear up the debris. Johnny enters to find the girls working away. Grabbing a moment with Johnny, Jenny gives him the heads up on how the factory girls have been taking him for a ride. Fuming, Johnny accuses the girls of wasting work time and docks their wages. As Sean suspects someone grassed them up, Jenny squirms.

Finally, Craig explains to Bethany how Gary has asked him to keep an eye on her. Bethany is quietly chuffed at Gary's interest in her.

Wednesday 31st August 2016

Caz is disappointed when Maria tells her that she'd like her to find somewhere else to stay, despite being grateful for her staying over. As Maria comforts Liam and promises him the burglar won't come back, her phone rings but there's nobody there. Maria is clearly unnerved, totally unaware that Caz is the one who made the call.

As Caz prepares to leave, Liam then finds his dad's watch in Caz's bag. Will Caz be able to explain? And still unnerved by the weird phone calls, will Maria have a change of heart and ask Caz to stay?

Meanwhile, Aidan calls the girls together and asks for volunteers for overtime. One by one the girls refuse, angry with Johnny for docking their wages. When the girls demand to know how Johnny found out about their film ruse, Johnny refuses to say.

Accusing the management of spying on them, Sally then leads the girls out on strike. In the pub, the girls congratulate Sally for standing up to the management. Tim is also proud of her, but warns her she's wrong about Phelan.

Elsewhere, aware that there's something up with Liz, Michelle puts pressure on Steve to find out what's troubling her. Steve promises to have a word. Steve lays the law down to Liz and tells her to find somewhere else to live if she can't disguise her feelings over the situation with Leanne, as he can't risk losing Michelle. Liz is stunned.

Also today, having reassured Eileen that she's doing the right thing with Jason's money, Phelan is relieved when Eileen promises to transfer the £65,000 today. Todd calls in the cab office and is gutted to hear she's at the bank transferring Jason's money. Tim sympathises and reckons Todd's right not to trust Phelan. Todd tells Eileen she's mad to invest in Phelan's project, but is Eileen prepared to listen?

Friday 2nd September
7:30

As Nick and Leanne discuss baby names, Nick promises that so long as the baby calls him 'Daddy', that's all that matters. Leanne calls in the pub and tears a strip off Liz, telling her that she and Steve have come to an agreement and it's none of her business. Liz calls a truce and offers Steve a hug, promising him the last thing she wants is to see him and Michelle split up. Steve is relieved.

As they prepare dinner, Nick confides in Leanne that his whole relationship with Carla was based on lies and he would never want to go through that again. Realising it's time for complete honesty, Leanne admits that her baby's father is Steve McDonald...

Meanwhile, Beth, Chesney, Kirk and Sinead make a fuss of Craig as he opens his 18th birthday presents. Tim takes Craig to The Rovers for his first legal pint, before Beth throws a birthday party at Number 5 for Craig.

As Craig opens his cards, he comes across a letter from the police and his face falls. He reveals his application has been refused on the grounds he failed to declare a relative's criminal conviction.

Elsewhere, Aidan puts pressure on Johnny to resolve the situation with the factory girls and reveal who grassed them up, but Johnny refuses. Having called a strike, the girls assemble outside.

While Aidan tries to negotiate with them, Jenny slips inside. Alone in the factory, Jenny and Johnny kiss passionately. When Aidan offers the girls cakes and double time, they crack and agree to go back to work. As the girls troop in, will they catch Johnny and Jenny in the act?

8:30

Leanne assures Nick that sleeping with Steve was a one off and a huge mistake which she deeply regrets. Nick struggles to take in the news. When Leanne admits that she slept with Steve the night that Nick confessed his love for her, he becomes furious.

Leanne assures Nick that Steve wants nothing to do with the baby. Nick is not convinced, pointing out that Steve could change his mind at any time. Leanne begs Nick to give her another chance, promising him that they can still be a family. But is this a bridge too far for an angry Nick?

Meanwhile, with all eyes on her, Beth reveals that Craig's dad has been in and out of prison all his life. Craig is shocked. Beth admits to Craig that she concealed the truth about his dad from him, as it was she who shopped him to the police after his first offence and since then he's spent most of his life behind bars. Craig is devastated.

Calling Beth a selfish liar, Craig storms out. Hoping for some sympathy, Beth looks to Kirk, but she's devastated when he tells her Craig is right. Tim and Faye find Craig about to deface the chippy with an aerosol. Tim persuades Craig to come home with them.

Elsewhere, Lauren threatens Bethany in the school corridor, but quickly retreats when the Head Teacher approaches. The Head asks Bethany to come with him. Bethany is taken aback to find Gary in the Head's office. Gary tells the Head that Lauren is a bully who's been making Bethany's life hell and they need to do something about it. As Gary drops Bethany at home, makings her promise to let him know if she receives any more abusive texts, Bethany is touched by his kindness.

Also, Sean and Izzy lay into Jenny, angry that she's been having a fling with the boss and telling tales about her work mates. Johnny is hurt when he overhears Kate, Aidan and Sean discussing his relationship with Jenny and suggesting she's only after his money.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...g-tinkers-dad/ Paul Loughran, who played Butch Dingle, will soon make his mark on Wetherfield as Craig’s previously unknown parent. “Paul has filmed some scenes as Darryl and there is huge drama ahead for the Tinkers as Craig comes face to face with his dad.”

That sounds excellent!! Really looking forward to it!! Love Craig & willl provide something different for Beth & Kirk too!! Liking how Kate Oates is giving stories to all the cast even if some are very contrived at best (Sharif's affair!!)

Good casting that, as Craig could pass for a young Butch Dingle

Caz and Maria isn't going to happen. Maria and Luke will get back together (however improbable) because beyond combing hair and twiddling spanners it is difficult to see a future for either of them without each other.

I very much hope they don't!! Not unless they're actually going to invest something in the relationship this time!! I agree Caz & Maria isn't going to happen for the simple reason Maria isn't a lesbian & has never shown any tendencies that way!!
Luke needs developing as a character or I don't see him lasting!! Maria's in it for the long term whether you like it or not!! Characters like her who have grown up on the Street are the show's long term future & with the likes of her, the Platts, Todd, Leanne, hopefully Jason back at some point it's in good hands imo in terms of cast!!

Hello all, I'm a big Corrie fan (as you can tell from my username )! I'm really looking forward to seeing Kate Oates ideas come into fruition and from what I've heard, it's really going to be something!!

Maria will have a big part to play throughout the autumn, and come Winter it should be Barlow heavy. Word is Peter will be returning for Christmas! So possibly that's when will see the other barlows?

David's bust up pics suggests more misery will be heaped on the plats and there's a chance of a Halloween showdown!

Rana's been all shifty??? Wonder if she's hiding something that Zee and Alya won't like..........

As for casting.......they are finalising the new barlows. There was word of introducing Anna's mother as a battleaxe type character, but it seems to be hogwash. Returnees? Some heavy hints about our Toyah........hope she moves in with Lee! Weddings? Well Fiz and Ty are pencilled in right......??

Whilst Nick had been prepared to bring up someone else's child he struggled with the latest development, and he walks out on her.

Nick calls at The Rovers and orders Steve to come with him, claiming that they need to discuss the Bistro takeaway service. Nick drives Steve to a piece of waste ground and confronts him about the baby. Steve is horrified to realise that Leanne has told Nick the truth, but he swears that he wants nothing to do with the baby.

Later, Leanne calls in The Rovers to look for Nick and fears the worst when Michelle tells her that he and Steve headed off together in Nick's car.

Back on the waste ground, Nick types a text to Michelle, telling her that Steve is the father of Leanne's baby. He threatens to send it unless Steve promises to move away, but Steve refuses to be pushed around. Showing he means business, Nick sends the text...

Meanwhile, Todd has booked a night at a posh hotel for himself and Billy. When Sean hears Todd telling Tracy, he gets jealous and decides to take revenge.

Elsewhere, Kirk is avoiding Beth after last week's events. Sally is also unhappy to have Craig sleeping on the sofa, but Tim insists he has nowhere else to go.

Also, Audrey and Maria make it through to the final of the Regional Stylists' Awards, while Bethany confides in Gary that she has to attend a meeting at the school with Lauren and Lauren's mum.

8:30

Michelle's phone beeps at The Rovers. Seeing that the incoming text is from Nick, Leanne nervously hides the phone. When Michelle's phone then rings in Leanne's pocket, Leanne is forced to hand it over, making out that she picked it up by accident.

As Michelle reads Nick's text, Leanne's braces herself. Has Nick blown everything?

Meanwhile, Steve accuses Nick of ruining his life. Nick attempts to establish control, insisting that it'll be his name on the child's birth certificate. Will Steve agree? And can Nick move forward with Leanne now that he knows the truth?

Elsewhere, Sean backtracks on his revenge after some advice from Eva, phoning the hotel back and rebooking Todd's room. When they arrive at the hotel, Todd tells Billy that he's booked them a double room. To Todd's delight, Billy suggests they head straight upstairs.

As Todd and Billy romp on the bed, Todd makes an ill-judged joke about Billy's religion. Billy takes offence and quickly backs off. Deeply frustrated, Todd tells Billy that a relationship without sex isn't a proper relationship and storms out. Billy then calls at Eva's flat clearly upset, fearing that he's just ruined the best relationship he's ever had.

Also, Kirk and Beth make peace at the factory. Tim also confides in Craig about how he let Faye down when she was a baby and how everyone deserves a second chance. Craig takes his words on board and asks Sally if she'll help him to resolve his differences with Beth.

Finally, Bethany is backed into a corner over her bullying ordeal when Sarah suspects that Gary has been coming onto her, while Caz starts to develop feelings for Maria.

Wednesday 7th September

Phelan and Vinny are furious when Eileen insists that she wants to be heavily involved in their building project, given that Jason's money has been invested in it.

With the intention of keeping Eileen out of the way, Phelan tells her that he'd like to make her Concepts Executive, which will mean travelling to various design shows. Eileen is flattered, but Todd smells a rat and makes his disapproval clear. Eileen tears a strip off Todd and tells him that he can find somewhere else to live if he can't be civil to Phelan.

Todd also calls at the vicarage and tells Billy how sorry he is for ruining their evening. Billy kisses him passionately and leads him upstairs. After his argument with Eileen, Todd later returns to Billy's, admitting that he can't stand by and watch Phelan ripping his family off any longer. Will Billy agree to letting him stay at the vicarage?

Meanwhile, Sarah apologises to Gary for suspecting him of having an inappropriate interest in Bethany. She explains that she's spoken to Bethany about the bullying and would be grateful if he would accompany her to the meeting at school.

At the meeting, Lauren shows the Head Teacher the bruise on her arm and makes out that she's the victim and Bethany is the bully. The Head decides to suspend both Lauren and Bethany. As Sarah thanks Gary for his support, Gary voices his concerns about Bethany's gym routine and suggests she might be pushing herself too hard.

Elsewhere, with Sally acting as mediator, Craig tells Beth how much he loves her but how hurt he is that she lied to him about his dad. Will Beth be understanding?

Also today, Dev lifts Gemma's spirits by promoting her to Assistant Manager, while Gail confides in Audrey that she found David's blood-stained hoodie under his pillow and she's worried he's not coping as well as they thought.

Friday 9th September
7:30

With Bethany suspended from school, David agrees to let her work in the salon for the day. As Bethany sweeps up, she pours her heart out to David and admits how much she misses Kylie. Soon afterwards, Lauren calls in the salon and finds Bethany alone, putting the frighteners on her once again.

When David returns and interrupts, he makes out to Lauren that it's time they all buried the hatchet. He sends Bethany out for coffees and insists Lauren must have a free hair do. As a delighted Lauren settles back for a blow dry, David has a sinister plan in mind...

Meanwhile, an excited Caz hugs Maria, explaining that she's got an interview later that day after Maria helped her with her CV earlier in the week. Soon afterwards, Kate rows with Caz in the street, accusing her of using Maria. Kate then spills coffee down Caz's interview suit.

Elsewhere, Audrey feels unwell and suggests that Maria should find someone else to take to the Regional Stylists' Awards. When Maria invites Luke to be her plus one, he accepts immediately and hopes they might get back together.

Also today, Todd tells Eileen that he's moved into the rectory with Billy. With Todd gone, Sean asks Eileen if he can move back in. Will Eileen agree?

Chopping a chunk out of Lauren's hair, David tells her that if she ever bullies Bethany again, it'll be her throat next time. Threatening to call the police, Lauren flees the salon and is scared witless. Gemma watches her go.

When Bethany realises what David has done to Lauren, she fears that he's made matters much worse. Sure enough, the police soon call at the salon and question David over Lauren's allegations. David makes out that Lauren booked a haircut but changed her mind half way through. When Gemma backs him up, will the police accept his story?

Back at the Platts', David assures Gail that he's binned the blood stained hoodie and is determined to move on with his life. However, David isn't being entirely honest – he's set up a fake profile online and sends a friend request to Macca...

Meanwhile, Luke is dressed in a tux and meets up with Maria. Maria's heart sinks, worried he's reading more into their date than she intended. As they set off to the awards ceremony, they find a teary Caz at the bus stop, who explains that she's missed her interview.

Telling Luke to wait for her in The Rovers, Maria takes Caz home. Caz then opens up to Maria and admits that she misses the army and is finding it tough adapting to normal life. Realising Caz needs her support, Maria calls a gutted Luke and cancels their date. Back at the flat, as Maria gets changed, Caz can't help watching admiringly.

Elsewhere, Todd produces a DVD and suggests a cosy night in to Billy, but the mood is ruined when Billy admits that he feels it's too soon for them to be living together.

Also today, Faye dupes Kirk into revealing which prison Craig's dad is being held in.
