Ah shite. This is why I need to watch the episodes outside of work. Can barely keep track of some of the edits nowadays.

Anyway, more to come this weekend. I received a few messages and will try and answer a few of the questions in there as well.

Evening all. Sorry for not making good on my comments last week. This time of year is one of the busiest on set as we're trying to wrap as much as possible before the Christmas break.

I will get around to a few questions, one that I won't be answering is to do with theme tunes and fonts, afraid that I'm just not involved on that end of things and having worked on other shows for most of my career it's not something that I know all that much about in the context of CS. A few other questions I have to ignore as we work on units as part of the show, some I don't have a clue about and some might pin me to a certain unit. Sorry.

Onto what I can share, and this is big. It relates to a big storyline in the planning stages for next year, probably spring/early summer but still a bit up in the air. I'm keeping it as vague as I feel comfortable with but I figured it would be interesting to see the speculation.

Spoiler
Next year will see a big whodunit revolving around a long running character, there will be about four or five suspects each with their reasons. If you watch carefully some are being sown into the story already.

The big question on set is whether this character will be killed off or injured, if they're killed off it will be done over a longer period than just a sudden flash of anger. It will also reference a key scene this character was involved in a little while ago, on the street. A lot of this depends on the reception people are getting at the moment. The feeling is that they have been in the show for a long time and in a way are seen as iconic or representative of the show. The other hand is that they're probably going to be headed out one way or the other over the next few years so it might give a better conclusion to have them leave with a bang. The performer in question is happy either way and is far more involved in the planning than is usual. The feeling is that while this character is quintessentially Corrie there are things being put in place to carry on the legacy. It'll be a big send off or a way of lowering a schedule. The fear is that if they kill off this character it might alienate a few fans.

Likewise the question of who has done it is reliant on a few things, mostly reception that current characters are receiving. The feeling is that it'll go one of two ways, either a longstanding character will be pushed too far and revert to previous ways or a relatively new(ish) character will have a blowup, a lot of this is down to the reception they are receiving. There is also an element of outside forces to do with another performer.

KO is running this story, it is very much her baby. I've been in a few of the meetings and she is very excited as it comes as she truly takes the reigns fully with no hangover from previous producers ongoing storylines. The reveal may be done live but it's not likely as there is a move away from these stunt episodes.

It is very much in the early stages but I think its got a lot of potential, I think, done right, it's a stroke of genius.

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....aria--12232767 It looks like Caz’s twisted game to frame Maria for her murder is finally up on next week’s Coronation Street.

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-...drama-for-mary The prospect of being diagnosed with breast cancer is something one in eight women in the UK have to face. And Coronation Street will be tackling the subject in upcoming episodes, when Mary Taylor finds a lump.

There is a big set piece on Christmas day with a fistfight in the street shot in an innovative way and then a couple of other "stunts" coming. KO is trying for a move away from the big stunts at the moment as the feeling is audiences have become desensitized to them.

Don't know of departure announcements, I know of a couple coming up but I don't work in press so don't know the schedules. As soon as I have anything I can share without compromising my role I'll try and post it.

Just reading the descriptions for the week of 5th to 9th December & Maria is really starting to hack me off now

"Aidan calls at Maria's flat and when she admits that she can't stop thinking about him, he kisses her passionately. Aidan invites her to spend the night with him at a hotel and she's thrilled, until Aidan makes it clear that he has no intention of finishing with Eva. Hurt, Maria orders him to leave.

Later, as Maria sets off to court with Kirk and Eva in tow, she tears a strip off Kate and blames her for the whole Caz debacle. This double blow leaves Maria feeling weak. Having changed her mind about Aidan's offer, she phones for a cab to take her to the hotel, but will Aidan be pleased to see her?"

Maria - Kate & everyone else told you repeatedly not to get involved with Caz & you ignored them.

Also judging by what happens next week Kate plays a large part in exposing Caz. How about a bit of graditude

As for Aidan - have some self respect or at the very least think about Eva before yourself.

When Rana's parents arrive for a family meal, Rana squirms as they inform Yasmeen and Zeedan of the string of unsuitable men in her past. Zeedan is glad to escape to the Bistro when Leanne calls, confiding in her that he's worried that he and Rana are rushing into marriage, as there's so much he doesn't know about her. Meanwhile, Zeedan's dismayed to learn that Yasmeen's pawned her wedding ring and other family heirlooms to pay towards the wedding. Rana tackles Zeedan about his distant mood but she's floored when he announces that he can't marry her as watching his grandparents' marriage fall apart has made him question their own relationship.

The twins set about their school work then steal some scratch cards. When a thrilled Aadi reveals he's won 300 pounds, they form a plan to collect their winnings without exposing their scam. Having blagged his way into the factory, Aidan scours the shop floor for Caz. Clocking Aidan, Caz does a runner through the fire exit and Aidan gives chase. With Caz nowhere to be seen, Aidan calls the police.

Yasmeen calls in at the bistro and begs Zeedan to follow his heart and marry Rana and not to let Sharif's mistakes ruin his life. Begging Rana to give Zeedan another chance, Leanne cajoles her into her car and drives her to the wedding venue. But when Tyrone and Freddie return with an ancient looking vase, Tim suddenly realises he could have some fun with his new allotment.

Having found the twins' share of the scratch card winnings, Erica tells Dev she's sick of being taken for a mug and wonders if she should move out. Worried, Dev confronts the guilty twins but is it too little, too late? Mary confides in Erica that she's found a lump in her breast.

Friday 2nd December 2016

When Kate spots a transaction for a camera on a credit card statement she realises Caz's game. Aware that Caz is listening in via the hidden camera, Kate tells Aidan that she still loves Caz and wishes she could see her again. Aidan reckons she's taken leave of her senses. Caz lets herself into Maria's flat and, finding Kate alone, admits she's been eavesdropping via a hidden camera. Believing that Kate still loves her, Caz implores her to run away with her, suggesting they could start a new life. Kate maintains her act whilst secretly phoning Aidan. But when Caz tries to kiss her, Kate recoils and Caz realises with horror she's been tricked. Will Caz make her getaway before Aidan arrives with the police or is the game up for Caz?

Erica accompanies Mary to the doctor's. Having examined her, the doctor confirms she's nothing to worry about but Mary's unconvinced and insists she has a scan. What could be playing on Mary's mind?

Aidan calls at Maria's flat and when she admits that she can't stop thinking about him, he kisses her passionately. Aidan invites her to spend the night with him at a hotel and she's thrilled until Aidan makes it clear he has no intention of finishing with Eva. Hurt, Maria orders him to leave. Later, as Maria sets off to court with Kirk and Eva in tow, she tears a strip off Kate, blaming her for the whole Caz debacle. This double blow leaves Maria feeling weak and, having changed her mind about Aidan's offer, she phones for a cab to take her to the hotel but will Aidan be pleased to see her?

Mary returns from the hospital and announces she's been given the all clear. Dev, Erica and Norris are delighted for her but Mary remains strangely downbeat. When Mary leaves a ring binder on the table, curious Erica glances through it but what does she find?

When Adam casts admiring glances at Maria, Tracy warns him she's a bunny boiler and he'd be best to steer clear. Meanwhile, a stressed Daniel admits he's behind with his rent and his landlord is kicking him out. Insisting they'll help him move his things, Ken and Peter are shocked at the state of Daniel's flat.

Cathy is concerned to notice Roy has a rash on his neck and wonders if it's stress related. Roy does his best to play it down as a familiar face arrives at the cafe, much to Roy and Cathy's dismay. In an attempt to build bridges, Rana invites Alya to meet her for a coffee after work. Alya is touched but will Zeedan be just as willing to make amends?

8:30

Maria arrived in the bar but is put out to find Aidan drinking champagne with Eva. Quickly covering, Maria makes out she's meeting a friend. Oblivious to their discomfort, Eva insists Maria joins them for a drink. With Eva out of earshot, Maria tears a strip off Aidan and, after pointing out that he clearly doesn't care about either of them, slaps him round the face and storms out. Is Eva about to discover Aidan has another woman in Maria? Maria heads home in a filthy mood. Adam approaches and insists on taking her for a drink. His evening in tatters and his nerves shot, Aidan returns to the street. Spotting him, Maria leans in to kiss a delighted Adam, inviting him back to her flat.

When Erica tries to question Mary about the contents of her ring binder, Mary becomes defensive and hurries out leaving Erica deeply concerned for her.

Peter quizzes Daniel, convinced he's been lying about Denise. Although Daniel had already admitted that she left six years ago, he has been keeping up the pretense that he has been in contact with her but now he finally reveals that he's never heard from her since. Peter is perplexed, wondering why Daniel never reported Denise's disappearance to the police but Daniel is defensive.

In the cafe, Nessa introduces herself to Brian and, offering him a swig of her duty free booze, proceeds to flirt with him. Kate invites Alya for a drink where she has a proposition for her.

Wednesday 7th December 2016

Peter suggests they keep Denise's disappearance a secret from Ken as it would only distress him but puts pressure on Daniel to report it to the police. With Peter's support, Daniel reports Denise as missing.

Meanwhile, Leanne, Nick and Simon get ready to leave for Simon's counselling session but there's no sign of Peter. Later, an irate Leanne catches up with Peter and demands to know why he failed to show up. Peter apologises while a jealous Nick watches their exchange intently, his mind whirling.

Maria sees Adam out of her flat. Aidan seethes, realising she spent the night with him. Friends encourage Maria to go out with Adam again and offer to babysit but Aidan has a plan to scupper Maria's evening with her new love interest.

Nessa is startled to find Roy sitting on her bed, while Cathy's concerned to realise he's been sleepwalking. Elsewhere, Yasmeen urges Cathy to confront Nessa over Alex's parentage but Cathy refuses to rock the boat, worried it could cause Roy even more stress. But reality hits Roy as his anxieties begin to spiral out of control.

Erica confides in Norris how worried she is about Mary. Finding Mary in the flower shop, Norris tells her that he only wants to help but he's left speechless when Mary reveals a huge bombshell.

Thursday 8th December 2016

When Leanne tells Nick that Toyah has invited them to Liverpool for Christmas, Nick happily agrees, knowing Peter will be disappointed. Feeling guilty for taking his son away at Christmas, Leanne offers to take Peter shopping for Simon's present. Nick is alarmed to learn that both Leanne and Peter are out Christmas shopping and fears they are together. Their shopping complete, Leanne and Peter find the car has been clamped in the car park. As they await release, they chat easily and listen to the radio, Leanne admitting a childhood obsession with Bros. As talk turns to their own history, Peter and Leanne have clearly put the bad times behind them...but could it be there is something more there than just nostalgia?

Yasmeen is irritated by Nessa's brazenness and berates Nessa for her affair with Cathy's husband. As the women square up and Roy gets agitated, Cathy calls a halt to the row. Hearing Nessa bragging about being a magnet for men, Cathy finally unleashes her fury at her sister for her affair with Alan. Nessa is stunned when Cathy throws her out. Cathy tells Roy she's sure to fail him as a wife, like she did Alan, and suggests they should call off the wedding.

Billy prepares to return to the Church. Todd admits he'd prefer him to have a normal job but has accepted his decision while Billy is pensive. However, Billy informs the Bishop that his heart no longer lies with the Church, and he wants to put his relationship first. The Bishop is shocked when Billy quits his job.

Mary tries to avoid Norris but he tracks her down. Not wishing to discuss her past, Mary orders Norris to forget she ever mentioned it. In the face of Norris' pestering, Mary insists she made peace with what she did many years ago but is Mary being truthful?

Friday 9th December 2016
7:30

Cathy wakes to find Roy cancelling the church. Disappointed, she hints at a change of heart but Roy doesn't take the bait. Cathy is aghast to realise that Roy's rash has vanished and assumes he's relieved. Roy cancels the flowers and the reception, and calls on Ken and Anna to explain that the wedding is off. Anna is secretly relieved she won't have to leave the flat. Alex is annoyed at Nessa for causing chaos. Unrepentant, Nessa blames Roy for going back on his promise to Cathy. Roy listens, his conscience pricked. Sensing Cathy's regret, Roy points out it was she who called off the wedding. Exasperated, Cathy explains she was merely seeking comfort from him. The misunderstanding aired, will Roy decide the wedding must go ahead after all?

Seeing Nick's paranoia, Robert urges him to confront Peter to warn him off Leanne. Leanne and Peter arrange to throw an early Christmas Day celebration so that Peter can see Simon open his presents. Nick visits No.1 and tells Peter to stay away from Leanne.

Eileen's upset by the letters flooding in from angry customers who are out of pocket due to the development scam. Meanwhile, Andy is enraged as he watches Phelan cheerily going about his business.

8:30

Steph takes charge and leads Roy out of the Bistro where she manages to calm him down. Tyrone is alarmed to see Roy in such distress and, confiding in Brian about Roy's panic attack, they agree to take action. Meanwhile, in the cafe, Cathy practises her wedding vows using a dictaphone. When Nessa returns, Cathy agrees to let bygones be bygones, not wanting any further trouble ahead of her big day. Brian and Tyrone corner Roy and demand to know if he had a panic attack because he's feeling trapped by the wedding. Brian and Tyrone follow Roy up to his flat where, faced with their badgering, he finally admits he doesn't want to get married but won't break his promise to Cathy. In despair, Brian and Tyrone hit Roy with some home truths.

Nick accuses Peter of sniffing around Leanne. Peter is bemused but when Nick calls him a jobless alcoholic and mocks him for dossing at his dad's, Peter is stung. His mind whirling, Peter puts together a plan to prove Nick wrong but he knows it will ruffle a few feathers.

Eileen assures a frosty Rita that Phelan's working really hard to pay back everyone's money. Meanwhile, another letter arrives at No.11 - what will Eileen do?

Todd has no luck finding a job but Billy suggests they go out on the lash while they still can. As they get merry at the Rovers, Billy is delighted by a call offering him a job interview.

That whodunit spoiler is intriguing. Normally a ‘villain’ would have to be at the centre of such a story but they are a long standing character which makes me think Tracy, David, Maria or Todd. Killing off Tracy would be massive (Claire Peacock failed) but she’s the best she has been in years recently. Maria would be like a rehash of Tina and the Platts have had enough tragedy for a lifetime. This needs to be innovative and the motives need to be strong.

How about Steve?
Suspects: Leanne, Michelle, Peter, Tracy and Nick.
Old Man 43

The whodunit could be:-

David is attacked by someone unknown and the list of suspects would include Kevin and Gary.
