Interesting to see whether she believes Peter if/when he declares his feelings for her or whether he can trust him too.”

That's what I thought as well. And going to the AA meeting is another example of her clearly trying to move on with her life. I'm guessing she doesn't mention it to Peter before he sees her there, and she's generally tried to distance herself from him lately, like in the pub on monday where she was very casual and didn't go bounding straight up to him like she might have done a few months ago. In a way Peter declaring his love for her is kind of dragging her back IMO, and as much as I do adore them together, I think to be honest maybe she'd be better without him at the moment.

I really dislike Peter for forcing Carla to play the other woman. I mean yeah, I totally understand how he doesn't want to hurt Simon and Leanne, but if he really cares about them, he wouldn't have an affair either, surely?! He really needs to chose one or the other and stick to it. I think all three of them are too vulnerable right now for anything else. I dread to think what it would do to Carla if Peter ends up hurting her again, especially as the spoilers suggest they sleep together on Christmas day. I mean that will be a massive deal for Carla, and take a huge amount of trust, and for him to then reject her would just undo all the hard work of the last few months, getting her life back.

And that's not even mentioning the impact that an affair will have on Frank's trial if it comes out...

jane danson has said she thinks peter ad leanne could stay together... interesting to see what is going to happen with all this to be honest i got a feeling after reading all these different bits from interviews it will go down the lines of peter and carla will just have an affair and he will eventually get back together with leanne when it all comes to a head so it looks like carla will be heartbroken again

I have a feeling that is where it will go to smiler07

Although Phil Collinson did say in the storyline previews for 2012 - Carla and Peter: Leanne and Simon will be in for heartbreak when Carla and Peter do plan a future together

yea its kins of annoying to think that all this build up will just be for a short affair and then peter gets back together with leanne...what will happen to carla???.. i would of thought with all the heartbreak carla has had with liam etc peter is the one she seems to have truly loved sincethey would do it differently but it doesnt seem the case

i've just checked the interview of jane danson and it seems to me that she's just saying what she'd like to happen. There are no definite pointers saying that her and peter stay together. And phil collinson has hinted that peter and carla may give it a go. We'll just have to wait and see!

Heartbreak? At least she's still alive...they're all dead.

Doesn't mean she hasn't had heartbreak.

Has Peter's contract been renewed? Maybe he's leaving the street in a box!

I feel the same. As much as I love Peter and Carla together, I would be very disappointed if they turn them into a fling. I don't want to watch Peter sneak around behind Leanne's back anyway and lie to her while at the same time give Carla false hope. However, I would like to think that Peter and Carla do have a future together, but only if he really believes his marriage is over.
In a way though, Leanne has made the whole thing easier for everyone because she's been convinced that Peter and Carla were having an affair from the start. Their marriage has never been strong on trust. How can you stay married to someone you don't trust? And how can you cheat on someone you claim to love?

Thursday 15th December
Peter lies to Leanne before going to see Carla, who is devastated by the turn of events and admits she cannot live without him. Becky's business plans infuriate Tracy, and Steve bombards Lloyd with questions about his motives for leaving. Owen suspects David has sabotaged his pond, while business is booming for Chesney and Gary as they sell Christmas trees door to door.

Can't help but think Carlas 'heartbreak' pales a bit in comparison to Marias, where Liam is concerned.
I didn't notice Carla scared, alone and pregnant, then finding out the man she loved and the father of her child was a lying scumbag who was shagging his sister in law.

In fact, she happily trotted down the aisle with Tony Gordon But bless the poor lamb for putting on a brave face eh?

I can't abide Carla and this Peter/Carla stuff has dragged on for too long.

For me that is the best bit. I think it is rare for soaps to spend this long building up a storyline (maybe I am wrong) and I think it is all the better for it.

so you're obviously forgetting that Carla was recently raped? yeah, i thought so. this is a corrie spoiler thread. as in the future, forget about the past, Maria certainly seems to have done so!

Not to mention she had lost Paul, in some ways loosing Liam for her must have been harder, as she couldn't publically grieve him the way she needed too. She also was almost killed by Tony..

But I agree with you Car'sQueenBitch

I'm really excited about the Peter/Carla storyline, however, I don't want it to be another one of those dragging on and on affairs ie Leanne and Danny. You know one of those where it's always close calls for being caught together. I've grown to really like Carla during the last year and even though she tends to go for attached guys, I think she's a lost soul underneath that attractive and confident exterior.

I don't really see how the fact that Maria has suffered more, in your opinion, means that Carla has suffered any less. They've both been through awful things, and neither would deserve to be treated like this.

This worries me. This kind of dependency isn't healthy at the best of times, but given the current situation and the very likely chance that it'll all end in tears, it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen...

It's hardly a competition. There are numerous people on the street who have suffered more than Carla and Maria. That is the nature of soap characters, they will suffer lol

Why compare them though, when they've both had their fair share of upset? How ironic is it that after everything... Maria has been there for Carla the most I would say! Got to give her credit for that. I'm glad they're good friends now.

Thanks for the info. I'd love to read it, if you wouldn't mind. You're a star!

Stella, eh? Oh dear. Can't see their affair staying secret for long if she finds out (which is probably a good thing), she surely wouldn't keep it from Leanne?

Oh I'd love you to post the interview.

Interesting thank you x
