I don't think that is what happens at all. I think The Sun are exaggerating. Putting some gin in a drink isn't spiking and I doubt she actually does it to make a move, I reckon it will be because she thinks Sophie will have more fun drunk.

The Sun are always about stereotypes when they talk about lesbian storylines, so don't take everything literally.

As for S/S fans who are hoping Brooke will not renew her next contract and Sian will return for her. Do you really think that's realistic? I don't. I don't think Brooke will be going anywhere for at least a couple of years (she's actually said this) and even when Sophie does leave it would make absolutely no sense for Sian to come back for her. Why would you come back to the woman who dumped you for someone else just before your marriage?

If it had been Sian's decision to end things then maybe, but it's going to be Sophies. So once Sian leaves she will move on to someone who wants her. I don't think it would be believable for Sian to return romantically for Sophie Sorry Siophie fans but I think this is a burning their bridges ending here and Sophie will have destroyed any chance of a future that includes Sian. Characters rarely ever come back for a past partner in soaps so they can leave together, and I can't remember them ever doing it under these circumstances. I suppose there's always the chance but I wouldn't want people to be disappointed in a couple of years time. I am still waiting in vain for Jasmine to come back for Debbie in Emmerdale and they had a loving ending

It may not be realistic but soaps are full of people getting back together after hurting each other badly.

Ken & Deidre, Kevin & Sally and Sunita & Dev. Also do you know many men who would forgive their wife’s infidelity like Peter did with Leanne?

A lot of unlikely things do happen in soaps.

In the scenario presented by the Sun. If Sophie and Amber do not have sex but only kiss. If after Sian leaves Sophie finds out that Amber spiked her drinks so causing all the problems in the 1st place. If after finding this out Sophie does not have anything more to do with Amber.

Then it is possible that if Sian was to come back that she could be Sophie’s exit story. Of course the longer that Sophie stays the less likely this is.


Edit:- Actually I am beginning to wonder if Mandy (in Hollyoaks) has come back as Tony’s eventual exit story.

None of those people were dumped at their weddings and they didn't leave the show and specifically come back for the other. Plus there is no reason Sian would come back to Coronation Street, she has zero ties there. Unless Sian and Sophie stay in touch as friends it would be random writing to bring Sian back two years down the line. They don't have a ex-marriage, kids, friends or family to reconnect them.

Peter had been a bigamist and learned cheating from both sides so while it was a bit stupid, yes, I can understand why he did. It's a different situation entirely. More ties there (Simon) and more life experiences and lets not forget Peter himself wasn't completely innocent, he had been tempted by Carla. So in mind if not in body he had been unfaithful, that will have made it easier for him to forgive and forget.

As for Sophie, I think she'd know that night that Amber had put gin in her drink lol. And that doesn't stop her dumping Sian for her a couple of months later. I can't see them not having some sort of relationship, the storyline wouldn't make sense if there wasn't real actions behind the emotions. Even Carla and Peter have almost slept together. And given the chance Carla would be with him after Frank. I don't see why Sophie would be any different. They may only last 5 minutes who knows, but from how this is being talked about 'Sophie's feeling for Amber win out. Love triangle etc' it sounds like Amber is just as willing to have a relationship sans Sian too. People a few weeks ago were ademant these spoilers weren't even true and Amber wouldn't be bisexual and there would be no love triangle. They were wrong, it's best not to pin expectations on characters, they'll mostly do the opposite . It's best to expect the worst and if it doesn't happen then that's good and if it does then you're prepared. I am prepared for a Sophie/Amber relationship in some form other than from afar.

The only way I could see nothing happening is if Amber is the one who backs off. And the spoilers don't seem to be pointing that way.

Well as far as Sian having no ties to come back to the street, her dad still lives in the area. Maybe they could bring her back and say that she's working on things with him and runs into Sophie and they end up back together. Just a thought.

I honestly think it's only a very slim chance Sian will ever return briefly to Corrie. Not to mention Sacha could be really busy then and not be able too. Soaps aren't like other shows, you rarely get happy endings for past lovers unless the characters comes back to the show on a full time basis.

I know S/S fans are holding out, I did the same for couples in the past too. But realistically it doesn't make sense. I could be wrong, hope I am and you get your reunion at some point. I just wouldn't pin everything on it happening. If you're always waiting for Sian to come back you won't be able to enjoy any future Sophie storylines, her life has to go on. Sacha did quit afterall.

I'm more than open to where they take Sophie in the future. So long as no men. Ever As for when she leaves the first time (she'll be back so long as the Websters are there) I don't really care who she's with or not with at the time. Just give her material now.

You are forgetting Sophie’s personality. For her even kissing (the way she is supposed too) is cheating. So it is not necessary for her to have sex with Amber to feel guilty and want to make up to Sian.

The only reason that Sophie would have for not going ahead with the wedding is if she becomes confused about her true feelings.

Following on from that if she found out that Amber spiked her drinks she would not be able to trust her. For Sophie trust is a big thing and she would not end up in a relationship with Amber if she does not trust her. In fact when she finds out I would expect her to be very angry.

The only question would be when she finds out about Amber spiking her drinks.

As for Sophie and Sian getting back together. That could happen when Brooke decides to leave. She could realise that letting Sian go was the biggest mistake she ever made. She could go and find her and they could agree to try again away from Weatherfield (Although the more time that passes the less likely that this is to happen).

Sophie's personality is already showing she can fall for someone else. So if she's single after Sian leaves, why wouldn't she want a relationship with Amber?, It makes no sense for Sophie to grapple for two months with her feeling for Amber, have those feelings win out enough that she actually cancelled her wedding, to then have her say afterwards 'the feelings weren't that strong afterall and I'm not going to act on them'. Comeon be realistic. If this storyline ultimately doesn't go anywhere romantic it will have to be because of Amber.

It would have been like Graeme dumping Tina for Xin for him to then have left on his own and let Xin leave on her own. It would be a bit of a pointless storyline. I could see Amber thinking all the drama isn't worth it and backing off from Sophie, thereby then she has neither. But I just can't see it being Sophie's doing, the girl is a romantic. Look how she was determined her and Sian would be together, that is also part of her personality. Those type of feelings she had for Sian at that time she now has for Amber. She wants love to win out and she will then love Amber from what the spoilers are saying. I really think if people aren't expecting at least somewhere briefly to happen they will be left hurt.

Sophie will know that night she's had gin put in her drink. Where else would she think her drunkeness came from? she'll automatically know it was Amber and I think her guilt and confusion will be a lot more important. That won't be a big deal IMO. Sophie isn't so dumb it would take her till christmas to figure out why she was drunk lol. If I was Sian I wouldn't have Sophie back after this!. It's not about what Sophie might decide she wants in the future it's about what Sian wants and would you want someone back that dumped you at your wedding for someone else? She has more self respect than that, she'll find a girl who will worship her.

Just because S/S won't have a future doesn't mean what they did wasn't special. It was special. They were each other first love, they helped the other accept who they are and yes parts of each will still love the other for that all their lives. But you can't get past Sophie's emotional betrayal, if infact it is just kisses that happen. It can't just be ignored by Sian in a couple of years time. There's a difference between overcoming cheating when the person still wanted them. And then the person leaving them because they had stronger feelings for someone else. It would be like Graeme turning up in a few months time and expecting Tina to have him back. Is that really believable that she would after she's moved on?

You know even if after the Sian dumping, Amber decides that all the drama isn't worth it you just know that Sophie isn't going to take that for an answer. She'll be chasing after Amber and crying about how horrible her life is like she did with Sian.

Oh and the Corrie producer aren't going to turn down the chance to explore Dev's reaction about this and the possible conflict between the Alahan's and the Websters. You know might even be a chance for Sunita and Amber to bond in a small way because Sunita is a little more open minded than Dev. Also you know Dev will blame Sophie and Sally/Kevin will have to jump to her defence. Considering the dramatic miles they can get out of the storyline of them actually getting together I doubt Sophie will end up alone after Sian leaves.

Kittykat30 I completely understand what you're saying and I agree with you. What sophie is gonna do is horrible and I wouldn't expect sian to take her back even if time has gone by. But from my years of watching soaps I've come to realize that they have this little habit of foregoing making sense in order to write stories they think will bring in viewers. So if sacha were to agree to come back for a short while when Brooke decides to leave I'm sure they could think of some way to put Sophie and sian back together, sense be damned.

I will say I'm not holding my breath for it though. I've had many couples that Ive shipped break up and never get back together so I'm really not too upset about the whole thin, I knew it would happen eventually. The one thing about the story that I'm really dreading is seeing Sophie with amber. I don't mind Sophie being with someone else but I just don't care about amber at all. I just dont think I'll find them interesting together as a couple but we'll see.

Kittykat30 You are assuming that Sophie gets drunk. I think that Amber is cleverer than that. She will give Sophie just enough alcohol to cause her to react the way that she does but not enough to make it too obvious.

For me I think that Amber spiking Sophie’s drinks is a big part of why Amber may not become Sophie’s long term girlfriend. I think that Sophie may realise the truth shortly after she and Sian breakup and that will cause her to stay away from Amber.

The only way that Amber could get Sophie at that point is if she proved herself to Sophie by doing something that wins Sophie’s trust. It would have to be big though. This would also help the fans to accept Sophie and Amber being together.

As for your point about Sian not ever being able to forgive Sophie. It would depend on the circumstances but people in soaps have forgiven lots of bad things in the past.

There is no reason why Sian may not forgive Sophie as part of Sophie’s exit story if the producers decide that the ratings from such a move would make it worth doing.

As far as I can see the producers have a problem with what to do about Sophie. A big part of why the Sophie/Sian relationship worked is down to the Chemistry between Brooke and Sacha. Trying to recreate this with someone else is not going to be easy.

Why do you think that Ken & Deidre, Kevin & Sally and Dev & Sunita always end up back together? They even bought Marcus back for Sean due to not being able to find someone else for him.

In the end, I could care less about Sophie/Sian/Amber, but I am baffled that Sophie would go with someone after finding out they spiked her drink, especially with her being abstemious because of her faith.

I don't think she is. I think she's not drinking at the moment because of the idiot she made of herself the last time she did, which is understandable considering she managed to fall off a roof. I don't think this whole drink spiking thing is going to be that much of a big deal. Sophie isn't a half-wit she'll know that night. Also its highly unlikely that it will take her 3 months to find out and clearly she had feeling for Amber when she is sober.

As for Ken&Sally and Ken&Dierdrie - those character have been on Corrie forever, those actors are too old to move on to anything else. They are going to be on Corrie forever, those are the type of characters that go around in circle relationship wise not the younger characters.

That's all I've been saying in a nutshell.

Sophie really won't be bothered by the spiking thing. People are making way too much out of Amber stupidly putting gin in Sophie's drink. The girl isn't getting spiked with a date rape drug or a love potion that will have her falling for Amber . Anything that happens will be with Sophie's full cooperation, other than the first kiss where Amber is trying to get the letchy guy to get lost. Sophie soberly chooses Amber, there's no gin involved. No coersion. So why would she suddenly care what happened two months or more earlier?

And I agree, Sophie/Sian are nothing like the older couples who have never even left the show. Sacha has quit so we can't assume anything about what her or the shows future plans would be. Sophie has a life after Sian leaves and vice versa. It's not like Sian is going to put her life on hold while she waits for Sophie to get over Amber and any other girl she'll be interested in later (and there will be others. It's a soap). Life goes on in soap land especially when the other has left.

But then we're all making too many assumptions here based on what we wish would happen and others on what we think it was more realistic to. Maybe we should just sit back and see how it all pans out and how it all ends when Sian leaves. I'd say her exit will give the real clue of if she's ever likely to return. Because Graeme's exit definitely ended him and Tina for good. Let's wait and see how it is for Sian/Sophie when the time comes.

Oh comeon, you know when you've been drinking. You're all making it sound like Amber slips her a mind altering drug and continues to do up until when Sophie dumps Sian before the wedding. Let's not get melodramatic It's starting to sound like something the wicked stepmother from Snow White would do Don't take what the Sun say literally about that scene, they are obviously glossing the whole thing up to sensalize the storyline. They claim it's the big christmas storyline which we know is an exaggeration of massive proportions so I'd say the other stuff they say is a bit exaggerated too. I doubt what they say about the gin scene is how its written in the script

That's not true about Marcus. It had nothing to do with they couldn't find anyone else with chemistry. The reason they brought Marcus back was because they wanted Sean in a solid relationship but didn't want to take the time to have to build one from scratch so bringing Marcus back was the perfect answer. He was already an established character, their ending wasn't of the irreversable type and they could have them at full steam as a couple a lot quicker than a new love interest. Marcus was brought back to be a full time character.Totally different situation to what you suggest.

As for chemistry it's subjective to the viewer. I never actually thought Sophie/Sian had the greatest chemistry I'm sorry We have no idea what her chemistry will be like with Amber romantically as it hasn't gotten there yet just like she hasn't had a whole new love interest yet. We can't claim no chemistry on romances we have yet to see. Like I said it's best to wait and see and then judge the matter when the time comes. Going in determined not to like any future romance of Sophie's doesn't make her worth watching anymore.

Well Amber does have the advantage of being an established character on the show, which gives us more plot oppportunities than we had with Sian. Also lets not forget we will probably have stuff coming with Dev's reaction to deal with.
