Except in Scotland, where BBC2 are showing 'Landward' followed by 'A Question Of Sport'.

I really don't see the point of swopping the two programs for one hour.... absolutely ridiculous

Surely in a multichannel age the notion that anything really important.is switched to BBC1 should long gone. Viewers are just as likely to watch Andy Murray on BBC2 as BBC1 aren't they??

You'd think so but apparently not. An event on BBC1 will draw a larger audience tan the exact same thing on BBC2. I don't see why they don't just delay the regional news until 2000.

It'll be longer than an hour, but I agree, it messes things up for the viewers who don't find things where they expect them to be, so they should just leave it on BBC Two and run late after the match if they have to.

Regional news is a waste of time anyway.

I guess the EastEnders viewers are going to be annoyed seeing as on the freeview EPG that the Tennis is staying on BBC one after 8pm.

Sky epg for BBC2 now showing Eastenders as 8.00-9.00pm and the QoS repeat has vanished.

edit: now fixed.

It's certainly not if you live in NI and I guess the same for Scotland and Wales. English regions may be another matter .

Why can't snooker not get primetime BBC1?

Looks like they'll be no local news tonight then? ...

Murry could very well tie this up before 6:30, so it's anyone's guess.

As 75% of us have now had analogue switched off, then surely they MUST see sense and put the regional news on BBC1.
Just because their London HQ is in the backward part that haven't yet made the switch is no excuse to penalise the rest of us.
It's not as though there's nothing important on the news at the moment.
There's the small matter of tomorrows strike and the list of which schools are fully, partially and not closed to start with.
You wouldn't expect the national news to list every one of those.

The other implication is that Murray fans are incapable of pushing the channel up button once.

Really this could be shown on BBC Two and BBC One left as it is.

As stated earlier in the posting there is no regional BBC2 digital in England,it is simply BBC2 England, wherever you live in the country.

I agree with you on this.

There is few reasons why London is the last to switch over and is not relevant to the topic.

I wonder how much notice the English regions get as to whether they will actually be on air?

My region is (Meridian East).
BBC Two analogue had no South East Today headlines embedded in the BBC News At Six.

What did they show instead? Sportsday from News Channel or BBC London Headlines?

I guess as it's on BBC Two the regional centres don't brother with opting out any more Analogue or not. Given they can't on digital anyway.

Ok, you are right, I apologise, it's just that from an out of London point of view there always seems to be a London-centric bias to decisions about regional broadcasting.

Incidentally, London is not the last to switch over, that "honour" goes to the Ulster region, and, if memory serves, one of the others completes later than London also.
