It's not worth what they charge for it.

Can this be left in GD mods please.

My wife bought an M&S apricot cheese-cake yesterday and it was £3.99. Wasn't worth it. Biscuit base was very thin. I prefer Tesco ones at £1.

Do you shop at M&S and do you think it's food is value for money?

I occasionally do bits of food shopping in M&S and it seems fairly good value for money to me, for nice "treat" type things anyway. I probably wouldn't do my big weekly shop there as the range is a bit limited and it would be quite expensive compared to Sainsbury's etc.

I buy nearly all my food from M&S - pricey but definitely worth it my opinion

Maybe you just have cheap tastes/are easily pleased crazychris?

Nah seriously some of it is overpriced but some of it is definitely worth the extra money.

Well we had a strawberry cheesecake last week from Tesco, £1 and I thought it was better than the M&S one. My daughter thought so too.

I love M&S food, but I'd say most of it is definitely over-priced.

No I don't buy any rubbish like Value or Savers and like quality food. Just don't like paying 4 quid for a cheesecake.

*cough* that'll be their 'hand-dived Dublin Bay Prawn' to which you are referring.

I think the scampi joke is wearing a bit thin to be honest.

Yes, i can spend £180 a month in there on good quality food that does last the whole month, but then again we are not gutsy b'stards who feel the need to chomp everything in sight in the first few hours after buying the food.

The food is very good quality and there is a lot of good things you don't find in supermarkets, but yes even with my discount the food is far too expensive. I basically do a big shop at ASDA and get all the basics like butter, cheese, drinks etc and then buy myself some luxuries and treats from the M&S Food Hall about once a week when I finish.

I dislike M&S food. Tastes awful and is a shocking price. The price is in the pakaging IMO.

I bought a Tesco cheesecake once, it was like eating a slab of tasteless lard (I imagine). It was the only cake I've ever thrown in the bin without considering feeding the birds with it.

I'd rather pay £4 in M&S for quality.

I shop in M&S for all types of things whenever I see one, as I don't have one local to me.

I buy my basics in Tesco but did have a splurge on buying goodies for my birthday last week.

Their fruit trifle is gorgeous, you can't get that taste from any other trifle. I am so glad they haven't changed it in 32 years. Their chocolate dipped meringues are yummy as well - have loved them for 40 years. I love their strawberry Champagne cream as well. I love their strawberry frappe (quite a new addition).

I have noticed other supermarkets copying them and sometimes they manage to do a good job.

My son loves their chicken and bacon sub and their triple chocolate sundae.

Most of the stuff I've ever found in tescos has been cheap and crappy.

Shop-bought cheesecakes can surely only pale into significance compared to a decent home-made one? They always overload them with sugar at the supermarkets - you can barely taste the cheese.

I love M&S food.

I buy from all the supermarkets, but mostly M&S and Waitrose.

Actually - it isn't.

Food manufacturers that produce for M&S have to jump through so many hoops to keep the technical guys at M&S happy to keep their orders. This in turn costs money. Which is why everyone that shops at M&S pays so much more. The quality of M&S products is of a superior quality to that of other supermarkets.

I can't list the exact M&S requirements but I can honestly say - they are extensive to ensure their products meet the most demanding standards. Are M&S products worth it? In my opinion, absolutely. The saying "you get what you pay for" really is true, in this case.
