I buy my lunch from there.I get roped into buying the tiny dessert pots and their sandwiches are better than most places.

I think you get what you pay for with M&S food. Their chocolate chip shortbread biscuits are a particular favourite of mine; they don't last two minutes in this house.

The food is top rate stuff, I had a Chicken and Brocoli pie for dinner and it was fantastic. £2.49. Hardly broke the bank.

Marks and Spencer food is indeed yummy and scrumptious and available in small portions. When I've been working away from home without the wherewithal, the time or the skill to do my own cooking that little bit of coddling has been worth it.

It's ridiculously overpriced if judged along with food of equivalent quality that needs a bit of work to prepare. But think of it as a theme park. At a theme park you may queue for a long time to be transported across a closed loop ride that gives you nothing more than the kind of thrill you could get from a double somersault from a high diving board at the local swimming baths. But that would require skill, preparation and determination. A theme park is a package and you don't have to make the effort.

So to summarise: at least Marks and Sparks don't make you spend most of the time queuing.

They're actually pretty rubbish when it comes to their food hall. They have some good wines, but you can get them far cheaper elsewhere.

Some of the M&S lines are a touch expensive in my opinion but they keep sending me extra points vouchers so I've got no choice but to shop there.

One food item deserves a special mention viz the Dine in for Two offer normally available every two weeks. Two mains, two side dishes, two desserts and a bottle of wine for £10. This is proper value for money.

Their Welsh cakes are lush as well, they're the best ones you can buy.

I remember they did that at Christmas and I was tempted to try it but I didn't want to risk disappointment on a special day. If it has been repeated I think I'll give it a go.

Their ready meals are lovely, IMO the quality is much higher than your supermarket meal from the 'big 4' unless you go for the finest/taste the difference/the best/extra special range which aren't really any cheaper anyway.

It's all ready made meals. Don't see the appeal myself. The veg might look a bit smartly packaged but inside it's the same stuff Aldi, Lidl and ASDA sell. Probably all comes from the same factory too but if people want to pay more then that's their problem. The mushroom risotto I bought from there one time resembled a warm pile of sick but I guess it is the packaging and the logo you pay for.

Still makes me laugh to see one portion of mashed potato packed neatly on a foam tray in the M&S food hall.
Anyone here buy ready made mashed potato? All it takes is powdered mash and boil the kettle.

Their selection isn't great - not in my local one anyway. Their food is nice though. Sometimes I would "treat" myself (I earn peanuts!) to an M&S lunch. The salads are yummy and taste really fresh. I do my shopping at Tesco, which is a bit hit-and-miss taste wise. If I had the money I'd shop at M&S or Waitrose, but until then Tesco it is! ASDA is the worst IMO. Everything tastes so bland.

Yes. If you're a M&S credit card holder you get one point for every pound spent in M&S and one point for every 2 pounds spent elsewhere. Then every quarter (I think, similar to Tesco points) they send you a selection of vouchers. Simple money off or percentage off or maybe extra points on next balance.

There's also the 'Premium Club' which requires a small fee to belong to, but you get 3 points per pound spent plus extra freebies.

If you use the card all the time and spend a lot in M&S anyway, then you end up getting serious amounts of money off. It's not unusual to have people receiving upwards of £25 - £75 if they use their card all the time instead of a debit card.

And to the OP, we don't do an apricot cheesecake. It was either the Peach Melba cheesecake or the Apricot tart (which is, I agree very thin, but then it's meant to be).

Funnily enough I was having a discussion regarding our cheesecakes yesterday. I said I had a hankering for one of Icelands cheap as hell shitty cheesecakes. At which point I got shouted down as I should have had a hankering after one of ours. The cheap shitty ones from Iceland/Tesco/Asda etc do not even come close to the sheer quality of M&S cheesecake (Try the chocolate one straight out of the fridge, your mouth won't know what's hit it) but they are ok in their own right.
The more expensive option from M&S is worth it as they tend to be so rich so you can put less away.

Love it. Streets ahead of the others. Its another place with Waitrose that I will go to if i am having folk round for some food.
