hi,

i have just placed an order to join bt weekend which should be connected on the 30/6/11

i am planning on moving to postoffice home phone service asap.

how fast can i apply to join postoffice, will i have to wait 30 days first with bt and then apply?

what is the minimum time i can spend with bt before placing an order to leave?

cheers for any help,

Your post isnt too clear, have you 'down graded' your call plan to ' free weekends' on an existing BT Retail line thats out of contract, in other words ,the line was rented from BT for more than the initial minimum term, probabaly 12 months, then it will be a month notice reqd.
If you have just signed upto BT for a new line (or taken over a stopped line) then the minimum term is 12 months, possibly longer if you took some sort of deal,
Assuming this is a new line, then if your intention was to move to the Post Office then why didnt you get them to provide/takeover the line in the first place ?
If BT have had to pay BT/Openreach to install the line then they will hold you to term, even if the property already had or used to have service in the past

hi,

no i m a new customer whio signed up to a nd i signed up for a 12 month cotract,

i had free connection on my old bt line and i am aware there is a £2.50 charge per month for each month remaing to cancel the service.

i was a previose custmer of bt and my line still has the dialing tone so they said my connection was free. i was a bt customer 6 months ago and they said the line needs reativated and i do not need any visit.

i was on virgin media cable before this so i could not go direct to postoffice for my phone, only bt.

thanks

If you call them to cancel in the first month, then the cancel figure will be between £20 and £22.50 depending on how far thru the month it is when you call, you would have to ask if there is a penalty for the 'free' install, may only be free if you dont do at least the first 12 months, but I still dont see why you didnt use the PO to recativate the line, as they have exactly the same systems as BT Retail to start/takeover/provide lines , and that includes number portability ( if you are keeping your VM number)
