Right, as this applies to both Freesat and Freeview PVR's I have posted it in both sections of the forum. Before I begin I will get the exact models and software versions out of the way:

HUMAX FOXSAT-HDR (Freesat) v1.00.15
HUMAX HDR-FOX T2 (Freeview) v1.02.07

I woke up this morning at 6:30 and could hear one of the many boxes in my room whiring away making alot of noise. On investigating I discovered it was coming from the Freeview PVR. Feeling the top of the box I noted it was warm to the touch and the noise was actually the cooling fan going at what I can image was full pelt. The box was still in standby but scrolling across the front display was the message "searching for software update". This was odd it in itself in that this check happens at 4:30 in the morning and lasts for a few minutes (I believe). Bringing the box out of standby, the box immediately came on (i.e. there was no boot stage) showing the BBC HD channel (i.e. the last channel it was on). I put the box back in standby and the cooling fan was still going. I checked it about 20 or so minutes later and the cooling fan had stopped and the box was noticeably cooler. I put this down to a one-off.

Returning from work this evening I noted that the Freesat PVR was still in standby (with the correct time showing) but not recording as scheduled. Bringing the box out of standby I had to wait for it to boot (so another indication that it had not woken up to record) and checking the media folder I found that apart from missing the early evening recording it has also missed its afternoon scheduled recording as well. Investigating further shows that yesterdays recordings do not have thumbnails which indicates the 3:00 house keeping was not done!

Now, I have checked all other devices in the house that normally suffer and have to be reset when there is a power cut or a minor power switching glitch and these are all fine, but it seems very odd that two different Humax boxes have both experienced some unexplained oddity in the night that has affected their operation. Has anyone any ideas?

Hi Richard,

Mrs P. reported yesterday that our Foxsat-HDR did not record any of the morning/afternoon set of schedules when she first switched it on at around 5pm to begin watching her stuff until I got home from work. I couldn't see anything wrong, and all the timers had moved on OK, no clash, or failed recordings in the Media List.

ITV 1 Granada (not HD), Channel 5, and Channel 4HD were all missed.

I did a precautionary reboot, and it then picked up the 7pm recording of Emmerdale OK. If that hadn't have worked I would have then tried a Factory Reset. It then recorded everything else in the evening, fine.

Most Strange.

Rgds.

Les.

Les there's a lot of discussion about this on DS related to the hdr. It kicked off by a poster mentioning that the thumbnails did not update overnight. I booted the box about 09:30 to check and also look at the days schedule list, and sure enough they had not. This appears to have saved my recordings which during the day worked as expected. Later in the day (presumably from users out at work during the day) posts reported the same as yourself). After the boot their recordings continued as expected. Something very odd seems to have happened overnight

Hi Graham, yes I've just seen that other thread after I posted in this one.

i've just asked the missus to check today's and told her that if they are OK, then that's good, if not then by booting the machine up to look, it will be OK from there in

Never seen the overnight process cause anything like this, though.

It is thought that it might have been a freesat problem setting the time.
