I inherited my Dads house and disconnected the phone line because I didnt need it. Now 18 months later I plan to move in and I want to reconnect the phone and also have it broadband enabled.

Can I start the process now even though I haven't yet finalised my moving in date (subject to a seperation hence can't be specific). Just don't want to move in and have to wait weeks to go online etc but i don't want to pay line rental until I'm living there.

It's no good ordering a new line until you know the moving in date. Wait till you have a date then order, takes only a few days to be enabled again as the line would not be physically taken out of your house. BT would have kept a record of previous service in your address.

Some ISPs will do both landline and broadband. If you look up for example, Sky, Post Office and TalkTalk, (to name three at random) they say they can do line installation as well if you take out a line rental and broadband bundle.

Otherwise you will normally be asked for an active phone number when you try to order broadband. In that case you would need to get the phone line sorted first.
