Calling it before everyone else, she did a small survey inside or outside a metro station between a car booster seat and a teapot light.

How is that a representative focus group? asking people whether they'd like a car booster seat outside a metro where people don't even drive..

Also there were at least some positive reactions for the booster seat, there were none for the teapot light.

Hate this corporate bs, where peope can't follow orders and undermine you by relaying incorrect information

yeah, what's with this Paris hype as well. She seems to think that everyone in paris is upper middle class or something.

People are same everywhere, there are working class and middle class people in every city.

Definitely. All we saw was people saying that it was a good idea, but as soon as someone in the Metro Station (!) said that she took the Metro, Melody latched onto it and twisted all of the questions and answers after that.

Don't forget the Metro centre.

Melody, complete anti-Northern bigot.

Oh my god the most frustrating episode ever! She LIED to her pm about the research and didn't research the company like he asked. A few weeks ago lord sugar was hell bent on tearing Jim apart for being ruthless, now he's sucking that awful womans arse for her ruthless awful behaviour.
And Karren brady! Do me a favour love. And sod off u stupid hypocritical idiot.

I don't understand how Sugar can like her because she's "like a tiger" (more like a bull in a china shop in my opinion). Okay, Tom could have been tougher but she completely disregarded his specific instructions.

Not at all.

she made a sneery, condescending comment about the North. That you choose to condone it says plenty about you.

Her 'market research' just seemed to be aimed at getting her own opinions confirmed; opinions that were formed without her having seen the product.

She did great at sales and she had a huge advantage for speaking the language, but Tom should have put his foot down on product choice and pitch it well.

Melody could not have been fired on the performance she gave. She was the most effective on on the team.

100% agreed with this.

I wonder if the issue was that Nick and Lord Surallen both had to rely on Melody's word for what the market research said? Had Nick been there (and a French speaker), he'd have unquestionably called her on what the market research said. But he wasn't and nor was anybody else, so she could just claim people said whatever she wanted.

Absolutely agree with the majority.

She is at a point where by her actions are just going to be counter productive as she is going to wind everyone up. I mean even everyon here is wound up by her, includnig me, so imagine what it would be like working with her all day.

And whats funny is she thinks she is doing well, not realising that her methods WILL backfire on her

ALso as for the 'Its market reasearch, its market reasearch!!" that also annoys me. Let me think for christs sake. Having you say its market research every 2 seconds does not allow me to think.

And that also.. she forced her opinion on him by implying that the market research was 100% correct

Melody was crafty. The people she was questioning weren't giving her the answers she wanted, so she altered her line of questioning until they did. She wasn't objective at all.

However, she's a formidable seller and has way more going for her than either Leon or Natasha, so it's right she stayed.

Couldn't believe she basically told lies to Tom about her "market research" which was 4 people in a METRO station.
Absolute douchetool.

We have to remember that the programme is heavily edited. The programme wants to build up a certain image of her (and all characters) which can be supported by her speaking to a few people followed immediately by another clip where she 'lies' about the research to Tom. Who is to say that the overall feedback from the public was not more mixed? She should have at least voiced the positive comments though..

Odd that Vincent lying to his entire team about what the focus group for EveryDog said didn't receive this level of splenetic ire.

She was standing at the entrance of one of the biggest metro stations in Paris. Even if she was getting more negative feedback on the seat than we saw, it was hardly objective research.

I think it was unfortunate that Nick or Karen weren't with them to be able to pick up on this. I know the programme is obviously edited but even Melody said that it was only 4 people that said they didn't like the backpack thing (and the fact that they were interviewing in a train station may well mean people say a lot of people get the metro!). She quite obviously lied about it to get her own opinion through.

Agreed. the hard-faced one was very lucky tonight. All she did was that laughable attempt at a pitch to La Redoubt.

Melody's becoming less likeable with each episode. Can only imagine Sugar is keeping her in for her jumper-bumpers and the ratings

I was surprised nobody pointed out that she was asking people in a train station whether they used trains or cars.

Vincent didn't lie, the editing of that show made him look like he did. Most of the people in that focus group liked the concept and it was only one person (the vet shown in the show) that didn't.

it does annoy me that she was krafty

But i also think equally if i was team leader and someone tried to tell me

"in paris people dont use their cars"

I would have said we are ignoring the results. At which point she would say 'but its market research'

to which i would say "thanks for the research, but ultimately it is only to give an idea and is not the final answer. In this instance, we are ignoring the market research now lets move on"
