Yes, I thought that she was very polished and professional when it came to her french speaking and her selling but was also disgusted with her lies about the car seat and how she lied to Tom originally and said that they were more interested in the teapot when they were not!

It would be their company though wouldn't it, not just his. Equally hers and therefore equally her opinions.

He doesn't want a partner that would rely soley on him to make the calls but someone who can think on their feet and act without using others as crutches. Melody clearly (to him) could do this whereas Leon (clearly to me) couldn't. Maybe Sugar has worked with a fair few business people like Melody already, hence why he seemed to be near enough giving her the thumbs up in the boardroom instead of frowning on her which, in some aspects of that task, he should have done.

I do actually think that Sir Alan would actually get on with Melody because she is a strong business woman but I think that he will probably go for somebody like Helen!

Yes, he probably admires something about Melody but, agree, Helen would prob be the more pref partner for him, just because she seems steady and not easily flappable.

I beg to differ.

Behaving like that in business will get her nowhere. To get on in business one cannot afford to be greedy or manipulative and more importantly lying is never a good idea.

Melody came back and rambled on about her "awards" to total disinterest and seemed extremely miffed when people where praising Helen's virtuoso performance.

Melody is not a likeable character at all. You can see why Nick made the comment about Melody's popularity in the house.

Melody wants to win more than any of the others, and is not prepared to give anyone else a chance. She kept all the interviews for herself. She didnt seem to give a clear answer to what she does at the moment and LS seems also to have no idea, On all tasks she has proved to work the hardest often on her own without any help. She did not deserve to go, since she had to take over the team since Tom was hopeless. I dont know why he brought her back instead of Natasha. Maybe because he was together with her and he couldnt really say she did nothing if he did nothing himself. I really wonder what her business proposal is.

LS rewarded her for her appalling behaviour last night!

She completely ignored the instruction to research La Redoute - if she had actually reported it to Leon - he would have realised who they were as he said on YF he'd actually worked for them at their UK call centre.

She twisted the so called "market rsearch" to give her the result SHE wanted to get - and as such lost the team the biggest selling item (mind you even if they had it they would have flunked the pitch to LR)

She hogged all the leads she got - only eluctantly giving one to Tom and Natasha when she realised that she didn't have time to do them all. We saw the other team splitting the leads Jim got for them. I thought that bit where Leon demanded to do the lights pitch at one call showed it all - she'd been taking the high priced item sales leaving Leon the postcard ones.

She sabotged the team so thoroughly through her selfishness and overpowering ego that sales or not she should have been bollocked in the boardroom - not praised to the heavens.

And to whoever asked - yes her French accent is as irritating as her English one.....

Sugar makes such a plonker of himself when he talks about behaviour such as hers and then says he likes her for it.

In the real World any team she leads will not be happy working UNDER her after about a week.
As a Boss She is an epic fail.
Melody ingratiates herself to nobody......
Except Tutu, Mandela and the Llama.
Not a leader, just a Cow who will learn the "on the way up" phrase the hard way.

I could be wrong, but that looked to me like a classic editor's hatchet job - which this show seems to do very well.

Some of the looks on the candidates' faces that they show are clearly completely out of context with what's being said at the time - they like to do this in the boadrooom section a lot and they did it last night with Melody's face when other people were bigging up Helen. Outrageous editing but some people seem naive enough to fall for it. It makes for good television, I suppose, but I think it's disingenuous.

When Melody came back to the house and launched into her monologue Helen’s touch to whoever was sitting on her right was telling. Indicating it‘s probably not for the first time they‘ve all been subjected to a Melody speech of self aggrandisement.

You've not really understood what I said, have you? I'm saying we only see snippets of what's being said and it's edited together to make out something that wasn't really there. We never saw the full context of what Melody was saying about LS talking about her awards because what she said was clearly edited to look like it was just about her bigging herself up. That's my view, anyway.

I really couldn't care less if she (or any candidate) is 'unlikeable'. This isn't Big Brother, it's a show to find someone who can do well in business. If Sugar (or any business person) picked employees on the basis of their 'likeability' they'd not be in business for long.

It probably seems longer for The Apprentices but everything in the show is snippits it's only on for an hour.

In his autobiography AS says that the boardroom ( before elimination) can take up to 3 hours.

I know. They have to edit a lot because of the time constraint but editing can be used to misrepresent and that's what I saw last night in the snippet at the end in the house.

I don't think the producers necessarily dislike Melody but it made for good television in that episode, at least, to portray her as a selfish bitch who nobody likes.

I don't think it's true, not judging by the way the other candidates seem to get on with her in the rest of the show. Contrast this with Susan, who some of the others can't seem to get on with in tasks at all.

If they all get along in the house that's a bonus. Very little is shown of what does happen in the house so no one knows how Susan or any of them interact with each other away from cameras.

Methinks he has a lot like her in his 'companies'.

She lost the task by her 'market research'....Tom had no chance with the Car Seat.....which the others were not 100% behind, and which he knew, they wouldn't sell Hard.

Team Helen.

I agree that the show is highly edited, but it seems you're contradicting yourself here. On the one hand, you acknowledge that the editing can be misrepresentative, but then you go on to remark upon what some seem to think of others on the tasks - which is surely subject to the same editing process.

I am not sure why you have this idea that it does not matter whether you need to be likable to suceed in buisness

If you consider selling or pitching you need to be likable otherwise no one will want to buy from you ( you could have a wonderful product and rub people up so much no one want to do buisness with you)

if you need to lead a team you need to be likable otherwise no one will want to do what you want( a team lead by someone whom the others members of the team like and admire can acheive a great deal more that one lead by someone who frightens or is disrespected by its memebers)

Melody appears o have forgotten that she will always need to be a team player whether she is the team leader or a team member and this will be her downfall eventually

People seem to be confusing being likeable to us to the viewer, and being likeable to the people she's trying to do business with. Look at her dealings with buyers/sellers. She's by far one of the most effective.

A lot of people are saying she's 'unlikeable' because she has riled them in some way, whether it be her arrogant atitude or her musings on the North. By the same token, people are saying Tom's a potential winner - Tom, who just happens to be a nice guy. It's this inability (as I see it) for many viewers to disassociate the person from the business person that I'm pointing out.
