The market research did not (according to the edit) suggest the teapot light was more appealing, she lied which in any business would be a sackable offence.

Tom had to go with the market research because if he hadn't and they'd lost it would have been used against him.

I like Meoldy. Ok she was greedy on this task but that was only because the 2 doormats Tom and Leon let her. They didn't do much at all really and it's their own fault they were left in the shade.

Agreed she was safe when she was with the doormats in the boardroom

sugar was always going to keep her after she kept all the sales to herself though I think she should have gone, the blatant lies about the market research and not researching the retailer should have been enough to get rid of her

Melody should have gone, Melody basically sabatoged Tom with her petulant attitude - notice the leading questions she was asking at the train station? Basically looking at them as if they were daft for liking the car seat. She then after 4 negative comments decided that was enough market research for the day and decided to force the teapot. The main weakness with Tom is he is weak, he is however one of the strongest candidates there is (for the premise of this show this year, in other years he may have gone), without doubt.

I thought she would have gone as well. She did blatantly lie. I do think she saw her oppurtunity to set Tom up. I had to laugh when she went back to the others and told them that Lord Sugar said that all her achievements were admirable. He did, but then he went on to ask what she did to get them and does she understand that they will be starting a profit for business, not a new government. She did look shocked when Tom wasn't fired.

I think Melody is quite good and one of the better candidates, but on this task I thought she was awful. She made no concesions for the other members of her team, she lied when she didn't hear what she wanted, and, to me, spent the whole task trying to set Tom up for failure. It was genuinely one of the most self serving performances I've ever seen on the show. On the other hand she is very fit.

What's funny is how she was trying to deflect the blame off her, saying she "had done her part"(which she meddled with, at that), but I believe that if they had won the task, she would've inflated her ego over how important her role was in speaking french, and therefore proportion alot of the success down to her.

Melody's no saint, but she's got fire and ambition. Leon is an utter drip and was the right person to go. He might as well not have even been a part of this task, he contributed so little.

She shouldn't have gone, because she is a far more capable candidate than Leon, but she shouldn't win, shes far too pushy. She pretty much lied to Tom and unfortunately Nick wasnt there at that point, her research was terrible

Tom should have gone in my opinion... not brave enough to follow his instincts, not competent enough to sell anything, not smart enough to bring in Natasha. Overall, easily the weakest candidate left.

The moment she said "I did market research. We asked four people.." was very funny. Since when is market research four people? LOL

That was the Apprentice at its comedic best.

To be fair, when teams visit focus groups, there are usually only a handful of people there too.

It wasn't so much the number of people Melody surveyed, but the way she surveyed them. It was so biased!

OP is correct , from what we saw not one person liked the teapot and not one person disliked the seatpack , yet she went with the teapot ?????

this was a team challenge (cliche time) there is no I in team, Melody was playing a dangerous game and should have paid the price come on Lord Sugar, if any of your staff lied the way Melody did their P45 would be waiting at the door before they reached it

I thought that as well. How long did they even spend there? Surely they could have got more than 4 people's opinions.....

Tom has made some very good calls so far in the show and if Melody had been honest and had done what Tom had asked of her when he asked her to find out as much as possible about the pitch they could have possibly won. He then made the correct call to split the appointments but unfortunately backed down when Melody wanted to bag the glory for herself.
Last night the task wasnt lost by Tom but was lost by Melody, unfortunately I doubt she could see that at all which makes her a liability in business.

which as at least in part to blame on the info they were fed. we didn't see them getting the items explained properly, the rucksack chair was a wicked thing, but the way it was explained to them, it sounded more lilke a fold able car seat item.

of course doing a market research on something you think is a car seat item in a tube station will get you flawed results. like 'everyone prefers the Metro' as one answer seems to have been. all fine, but the fact is people still need to use cars for certain dealings.

Leon should have gone, did he actually do anything of major merit on the task? Melody, although flawed on the task in respects, was miles ahead of anyone and her business acumen speaks for itself - she can speak French and thus set up good leads and was able to sell well. Surely if she didn't research La Redoute as she was asked by Tom, he could have himself with all of the free time he had because Melody gave him no appointments...?

Yes. Tom made bad decisions and he sold nothing. Melody certainly did not deserve to go, and she shouldn't have been in the boardroom in the first place. Tom was a bit vindictive to even bring her in.

Has he? He has questioned a few bad decisions, but he hasn't exactly had many good ideas of his own.

Lord Sugar has a bit of a thing for her, by the looks of last night.

Well, you can make a case against all of them. Leon did next to nothing nothing (he even said that himself) and used his lack of French speaking as an excuse. Tom let Melody lead, and she played somewhat selfishly and it didn't pay off, he should have got her to split the appointments. Whilst Melody's 'market research' in the Metro of all places wasn't very useful, it's not as if anyone else on the team really criticised its validity. Natasha coasted somewhat, just a little less than Leon. I think she will go soon anyway, since Sugar hinted she was lucky not to be in the BR, and she's never received much praise.

But when it comes down to it, doing something is better than doing nothing. Leon was the right pick to go.

Apparently, it's alright to lie to your teammates as long as you don't lie to Lord Sugar.
