Awww, he is a sweetie! Not great on this task, but how can you be annoyed at someone who does that Bless! A sense of humour in business, unlike the hardfaced Melody!

If they both thought they could do a good job of the pitch I don't see the problem with what they did.

That's the quote of the series for me.

Exactly, the two obviously thought they could handle it, which is fine Mind you, Karen's reaction was hilarious!

I can and I am.

I don't think it was supposed to be funny.

I think he's a nice person and he wants to come across as such. He does not have this killer instinct that others have and in this case his 'problem' was that he wanted to be fair which may not have been the best business approach.

If he invents something like he claims to.. he will make far more money than Melody ever will in her career, ever

Show's just how much of a nonce he is. I've seen more backbone in a Python.

Either him or Natasha are goners next week, hopefully both!

Lets be honest , it was an abdication of management and was never going to look good in the boardroom....err foot, gun, bang !

"poor Tom" and "paper scissors stone" are trending worldwide on Twitter

In hindsight it did look a bit fishy. I wonder if any of the production crew said

"Oh go on, Tom, play rock paper scissors! We can get some comedy mileage out of you doing that."

It could well be that they both wanted to do the pitch and quibbled about it for a while before one of them just said, "Right, we're both equally capable, let's just decide this."

I still think it was silly, but not the huge deal that is being made of it.

Exactly. I think people get a little carried away with this show and begin to think that you need to be an arrogant self-server to get on in the show (true, but you'll never win the show) and that you need to be like that in business, which is simply not true! You need to make friends and earn respect in business - Melody has shown no ability in either of these areas imo.

Why is tossing a coin more acceptable than paper, scissors, stone??

Paper, scissors, stone is a lot more practical because you don't have to rummage around for a coin.

Tom was PM; he should have made the decision.

He was scared of saying "right, I'll do it" and then cocking it up and everything reflecting badly on him, in my view. What he should have done is say "ok Natasha, I believe in you, good luck" and then waited til they got no sales and said "I trusted her but she let the team down"...

The rock paper scissors scene was another great Apprentice moment. It was so strange and funny.

"What is this, the schoolyard?" Sugar said in the boardroom.

Tom looked so awkward. What a twit! Hee hee.

That's what makes the show so good. It's the silly moments that make it fun to watch.

You do remember that this is a business series, right

Yes.

I admit it was slightly funny but, this was a task and he was PM. Why was it so difficult for him to just say, "I will do it" or "you can do it."
It surely couldn't have been that hard and painful a decison to make.

I honestly don't understand what was so wrong about them doing that. What a fuss about nothing. Tom as PM was just being fair and Natasha agreed with him.

No idea what LS was complaining about. So it was a school playground way of deciding and practical in the circumstances. He didnt complain about the toss only on the way he did it. Does he expect his new partner to forget his school days. And why was Tom so ashamed of it. I can never know they one cant share a pitch. They should have thought about it all the way to Paris not at the last minute. This was the most important part of the whole process. They didnt seem to realise it offering such a small amount, Did they think LS had set them up with a little kiosk.

Me neither. He was simply trying to be fair. If one of them had insisted on doing it & then failed to get the order, they would have been criticised roundly. So in a way it was clever...

Stone Paper Scissors CAN be a valid business strategy:

.....but probably not in this case

The boardroom reaction to it gave us a laugh in our house. Poor Tom!

He is lovely and by the sound of it he has some great ideas that could make LS money in real life and so it was obvious he would be safe.

And he had not been in the boardroom til then which was a skill in itself, especially given how many times he has been on the losing team.

I do indeed. What's your point? My point was that Tom chose a particular way for his business strategy to be played out
