French is an attitude!

That's how she should have phrased it to who exactly? There was no-one there. wtf!

It's like as soon as Susan started speaking in her brainstorming session Karren had a look on her face like she'd smelt something foul.”

Karren is just jealous. She looks like a frumpy horse compared to Susan, and I think Karren doesn't like the fact that Nick likes Susan. Susan might have a crooked nose, but compared to the other women, she is HOT!

French is also a culture. A culture where they don't like their children and they don't like cars. Susan called it how it is.

Karren commenting on it is part of the show's story telling, signposting things people should take note of.

What she later claimed to have meant to say bore almost no relation to what she actually said. She's a graduate and a business owner so she should be able to articulate her thoughts properly into meaningful questions. Her innocence might be entertaining and useful occasionally but it's a liability in day to day business.”

QFT.

I think Susan's inability to actually articulate her thoughts coherently would definitely be a liability in day to day business. I could see any employees losing respect for a boss who asked the sort of questions she did last night.

For example, her question about whether the French like their children. Her boardroom explanation made what she meant by her question logical and understandable. The problem is: how is anyone meant to get that from the stupid question she actually asked?

Exactly.

I think Susan would be more suited to the old Apprentice (i.e. working for AS and learning that way) rather than going into business with him. I accept that she has a successful business already and has done since a young age. I think that is part of the problem - working for someone else would have taught her a lot about how the business world works and what is and is not 'acceptable' in the real world.

This incident puts the Rubbish one in a better light, for me; it makes her seem less malicious. With these two and the App one, we have three occasions where her thoughtless chatter annoyed those around her, leading to her getting reprimanded.

They don't get to see the task footage until long after - I wouldn't be surprised if Lord Sugar got to see it as the same time we do. He's sometimes commented to that effect. However, Karren may have mentioned it before the boardroom.

Karren going OTT provides some context for Edna and Zoe going OTT.

People who worked with her would probably get used to her habits. As long as she didn't do it in front of customers/suppliers etc, she'd be OK. She may also try to do this less now it's been pointed out to her.

Her bizarre performance in the apps task in front of people from outside the team was far more serious, and as far as we've seen that's not been repeated. So she may be learning.

Lord Sugar has said he doesn't see the footage before making his decision.

I don't think Edna did go OTT, to be honest. Susan was talking utter gibberish and making a spectacle of herself in front of people from outside the team. Edna was right to shut her up. I love Susan, but there's no defending her on that one!

Zoe losing her rag if Susan had been asking a lot of questions (which we didn't see her do) certainly becomes explicable and understandable. Karren is another matter; that was spite served up cold well after the event, and I lost a lot of respect for Karren this week.

Agreed. I was a bit unfair to Edna. However, I do think it was part of the same Susan pattern, and the reactions to Susan got more OTT as the series progresses and people get more stressed and impatient. Karren's reaction had probably been building for a while, and she may have been looking for an example good enough to raise in the boardroom.

(Karren shouldn't be stressed by the process in the same way that candidates are, but it is hard work for her. She has to go everywhere the candidates go, make the same early starts etc, and also has to pay attention the whole time so it is mentally gruelling too. She has to observe a lot of stupidity without saying anything at the time, which must be frustrating. None of which excuses her venting at Susan, but she is human.)

Ms Brady seems unable to seperate her personal feelings. I thought her preformance this week was 'beyond stupid'.

''Do the French like their children?''
''Are the French eco-friendly?''
''Do the French go camping?''

Fair enough, though if we are to make allowances for the stresses Karren is working under then the same must apply for Susan too.
