Even if we assume that it had been decided that only Helen was to pitch and answer any issues raised and that Susan was only going to demonstrate the product, she still showed a remarkable lack of awareness and timing.

She would, you're right. Not the first time she's shown herself to be an excellent negotiator. Which makes her behaviour during the pitch all the more curious.

Unless the person writing the article sat on La Redoute’s panel or is relating the thoughts of the entire panel they are her opinions deduced from what she saw and have no loftier credence.

My father is a very intelligent man, and well-informed on politics and science. Ask him to name one character on EastEnders and he'd be stumped. Yet EastEnders characters are "fairly well known". Does this mean he is stupid or ignorant?

At first I thought Susan's questions about French people and their children and cars seemed silly. In retrospect, I can see that she was asking these questions in an attempt to understand the target market. She freely admitted that she knew nothing about French culture, and she knew that she needed to find out about their attitudes in order to be able to sell effectively to them. Different cultures do put different emphasis on how they treat their children, etc., so it was actually a valid question to ask, albeit naively phrased. But then you have to take into account that she was thinking aloud.

Karren comes across as quite malicious sometimes - not a very likeable person, but then she's not there to be nice, I suppose.

Agree, I'd expected better of her.

Susan's questions were not that stupid and there are indeed cultural differences in the status of children, from "seen and not heard" to being the centre of attention all the bleeding time.

Karen has made several off-colour digs at people who in many cases are smarter and more astute than she is.

Not really. If they won inspite of her it doesnt. Just because you win as PM doesnt really mean much on his own. Although I did think she did an ok job as PM.

Her rantings, her total failure at the beauty task, her childish attitude when her idea isnt selected or shot down. These far outweigh her good points.



We have no details about 'big online store'. It could have a large online store, but makes very few sales. I have a feeling that was exaggerated to cover up the fact the sale was fake. It made it more plausible. There is no way a small shop with a 'large' online store would purchase a 1000 items, and then up their order by 50% because of a lower unit price. There was haggling by the shop owner, no nothing. Susan said if you order a higher quantity we can lower the unit price, the shop owner said ok. More likely scenario is the shop owner would have said, give me a 50-100, and if they sell well I will order some more.

Um Susan wasn't asking "genuinly" if the French liked there children she cleared that up in the boardroom.

But when you do it two times out of two it seem persuasive evidence that you are not completely useless.

You claim that no one would up an order by 50% for a significant price drop shows that you have not done some simple arithmetic on the figures involved.

The extra profit they could make per item at the reduced price would have made it well worth their while to order more.

No it doesnt. Edna won as PM, she was still rubbish. There have been other examples where a person has won as PM and been useless. This task Susan didnt win, the other team lost, due to Meolody

She doesn't need to win. She's done brilliantly by beating 37,000 other candidates to get into the process and to have got more than half the way through it. Particularly considering her age and inexperience.

EastEnders is fiction, which you either watch avidly or not at all. I'm talking about general factual knowledge, the kinds of things business people use to help them make decisions with little other knowledge. Anyone with eyes or who watches TV ads would be aware the French have a major car industry, so they are likely to drive cars. Knowing the French love to be with their families is less obvious perhaps, but still widely known.

With comments like, "do the french drive?", "do the french like their children?" Your you, I'm me...." I bet the producers thought she would be comedy gold, so took her on. She certainly isnt in the top 16 business people in the UK.



There are also plenty who arent so impressionable, and when they see a bit of skirt think dont think shes amazing.

Do you really think what Susan said would be that important to her? in the next days to come she had to pick her products, head to Paris, manage her team and sell stuff on the streets haha so I don't think "do the French love there children" would be in her head at the time .

Actually I don't think it meant much to her at all as she was clearly caught off gaurd and laughed in the boardroom with Helen, I think Karen just decided to make a big deal out of it for ratings and Susan managed to answer herself well enough to get SA's approval.

She ofcourse won the task and made an outstanding sale in that phone shop so she really isn't that stupid oh and did I hear SA say a boardroom record was broken?
