Just wondering what everyone thinks it seems ever since she married nick cannon her career has gone badly.
After her comback in 2005 she was riding high in the charts touch my body her 18th US no 1 things were going well.
All of a sudden she married nick and hardly did any promo for the other songs off the album then memoirs did badly.
And it wasn't her best album I just think maybe she has put her relationship out there too much in the media.
I think maybe people see her as this annoying celebrity desperate for attention as opposed to the great singer she is.
And the pregnant shoot she did for ok magazine was shocking the worst pregant celeb cover ever.
She'd already done life & style so why did she do it?.
I could understand if she was an ex member of a girl band and needed the money but she is a superstar.
And worth $300 million just saddens me especially after she said she'd never pose naked don't think nick liked the photos.
He seemed to regret them in an interview any opinions?

I'd say the - frankly - crap material is what did it, not Nick Cannon.

+1

I don't think Mariah cares much anymore. She was probably focusing on her relationship and motherhood for a while. What's important to realise is that she didn't really have much of a youth being a popstar and dating Tommy Mottola so it's not shocking.

No Nick Cannon has nothing to do with it... She needs to re-inject some rawness into her music. It's been far too light and fluffy for the past few years.

No. She just puts her family life ahead of her career now and so she should. She has worked her ass off for 20+ years and has had more success than most artists will ever see. She has nothing left to proove, she's done it all.

Exactly. She should just spend time with her family atm and have some fun.

I can't take Nick Cannon or Mariah Carey seriously after Eminem destroyed them both on 'The Warning'

Yeah, I was going to say, it was that Eminem arguement in 2009 that ended it, if anything.

HOWEVER, Nick is to blame still, I think.

The Eminem/Mariah Carey thing had been going on for years. I think since the early 00's (like 2001-2003 time). They made a few jabs at each other in interviews and stuff, but it wasn't too much.

Then Eminem released another album in 2009, and did a song about Mariah as he usually does, but this time Mariah had a clingy defensive partner who exploded and turned it into a massive arguement. If it hadn't been for Nick, I think the two of them would've just carried on as normal, making little jabs at each other, like they had done the past 7 years, and Mariah would've been fine.

So I still think it's Nick's fault really. Mariah had coped well with the situation every other time it happened, but Nick made it spin all out of proportion and it ended up back-firing big time for him tbh.

Eminem destroyed her career? Lmfao wow I can't believe people really believe that nonsense. The only thing he did was show himself up to be an obsessed stalker.

As its been pointed out Mariah's main focus the last 3 years has been her husband and starting a family.

We will have to see if Mariah Carey will come back with some more good material.

Even if it was Nick (which is an outlandish statement) it's about time Mariah was rewarded with some personal happiness, she has all the certifications she could wish for by now.

There's nothing wrong with her recent material, as far as mainstream music goes it's amazing. We Belong Together is a ballad that actually appeals to the charts, considering all ballads usually flop. It's Like That is a fantastic R&B record. I could go on.

Obviously he music had much more substance to it years ago, but mainstream music was far less shallow back then. Blame the shape of the charts, not Mariah.

And Nick definitely hasn't ruined her career. She met him after E=MC2 was released, and her third album didn't do so well because it wasn't promoted--she only really made that album to distract herself from her misscarriage. She said so herself.

This video probably has the most flawless mind blowingly amazing run (and long note) I think ever witnessed. I don't think even Brandy or Beyonce could recreate that (I say their names because they are impecable with runs and melisma). One of a kind.

Her music is good (E=MC2 was the only real let down imo) but she just keeps switching audiences. One minute she wants to be Adult Contempory then the next teen Pop, then RnB.

Mariah has had enough success in her life to just release music she likes now, rather than music to be a hit (which I don't think she ever really did).

I don't think he helped. You see Mariah is an older artist and to stay current she needs to appeal to teens.

EminEm is still current despite also being an older artist so picking a fight with him wasn't the wisest decision and considering it looks like she lied about having a relationship with him it makes her look even more worse than she did before.

Only fans of Eminem and Mariah care about that relationship, though. I know people who like Mariah's music who have never heard of the apparent relationship.

How did she pick a fight with him? that loser had been banging on and attacking her for 7 years straight, he started it. And he didn't provide an once of evidence that he was in a relationship with her. Just he's usually vile crap.

There obviously was a fling, though I doubt you could classify it as a relationship. Seven years on he still wouldn't shut up about it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzHnNPLWsDQ

According to the lyrics of the song..they dry humped but Eminem ejaculated prematurely all over her stomach.
And he mades tapes of there phonecalls and conversations..what a creep, Hes so bitter everytime a girl dumps him he makes a song about them..people must be crazy to get involved with him. Hes always making songs dissing pop singers and actors, but never to people who can actually do a diss record back to him...such a tough guy

As much as ive "grown out" of hip hop in the sense of it being used as a front for machoism... That statement proves that you're not a hip hop fan, or know anything about eminem's career. Look up Eminem's disses towards rappers Canibus, ICP, Benzino, Ja Rule and Cage.

I dont really care about the alleged relationship, as I said, hip hop is often used as a front for rappers to brag about things (see: 50 Cent) but had to jump in and correct you there. Don't forget that Eminem's rapping talent came from battle rapping in detroit, of which there are many vids on youtube.
