The man is a genius. Hunky Dory to Scary Monsters contains some of the greatest music ever.

I would love to see him if he went on tour one last time.

I wonder if anyone can help me out. I love a lot of David Bowie's songs and especially the ones from the soundtrack to the film Labyrinth. Does anyone know of any music that is similar to these songs, or similar to music from the soundtrack in full? Maybe album tracks because I haven't listened to his entire back catalogue, or anything else similar?

BOWIE FEVER HAS HIT THE PINDER!!! XD
Ok i have had his Hits album for ages...but finally i have set out the challenge of buying his catalogue. Have always loved Bowie but finally i wanna endorse! ![]() Alongside Kate Bush he is my favourite British Artist! And is one of my all time favourite artists, love watching his videos and eprformances! Now i have ordered "Low" and "Heroes" from the Berlin Trilogy....this era intrigued me due to his experimentation of bringing that European Electronic music into his Rock sound and his collaboration with Brian Eno and Iggy Pop....it is an era that fascinated me and where i HAD to go first off! i am thinking perhaps heading for Ziggy and Aladdin Sane after these next

I have ordered - Hunky Dory, Ziggy, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Station To Station, Low, Heroes and Scary Monsters.
lotta monies but hella worth it, heard full albums on YT so definitely helped in what to garner first. Yeah i think i need some live eprformances definitely, to go with Madonna definitely NEED some Bowie live/video DVD so may venture into that definitely! Also like Madonna i ADORE his chameleon traits with his music and visuals...i think thats why over the past few years i have really delved into BOWIE he reminds me so much of that Madonna/Absurd Britain/Comic kinda feel very alien/sci fi in approach and unusual, adore it! And yeah i have read that after Scary Monsters thinvs went very hit and miss really and that with Lets Dance he hit a commercial peak and continued critical success but due to his widened audience he had no idea whom he was performing in front of questioning as to whether they owned his previous material or had any Velvet Underground albums in their catalogues. Very fascinating and just goes to show really. Earthling i also like the sound of with Drum N Bass and Techno kinda sounds of the late 90s....sounds very appealing but will check it in full on YT of course Heathen also sounds intriguing too. I reckon next up i will buy Lodger to round off the Berlin Trilogy and Young Americans does intrigue me what with the "Plastic Soul" approach. and Lets Dance also i reckon i will buy...but i will look out for live stuff ![]() Man i love him! |

there's not a lot of official live shows, but the ziggy movie is classic, released 10 years after the show. the serious moonlight tour isn't had, but some hardcore fans didn't like the commercial version of bowie during that tour. i didn't like the glass spider tour much, the 90s tour wasn't great either. the reality tour is out on dvd and isn't bad and pretty much a hits set. ziggy is a good intro to bowie, and a proper movie not some cheap STV crap
there are plenty of boots too on video, the 1980floor show is pretty good, and the full recordings circulate on about 6 discs, but its the same songs repeated. there are loads of great audio boots too, like the tour rehearsals with stevie ray vaughn and the complete bbc sessions |

The Man Who Sold the World, Space Oddity and Ziggy Stardust are among the best as they tell a story throughout the album. The only problem is the CD versions have extra tracks which don't necessarily fit with the stories.

Low arrived today....what a trippy album i LOVE it!
I love the blend of Alternative Rock with Electronics....sublime! quite haunting also with the latter songs where Bowies vocals appear distorted and ambient. A great album! Cannot wait for the other 10 to arrive

Is there a DVD or something available about the full story of Ziggy Stardust? On BBC Four earlier this year, there was a documentary on, it was so good!
