Lord Sugar repeatedly said he wanted to hire a candidate who genuinely wanted the job, not coming for a 3-month craic.

Have all winning Apprentices left the Sugar empire within two years? Have they used Sugar as a launchpad for themselves, or was Sugar's £100K job never genuine? No doubt all who left are inhibited by the £700 millionaire from talking.

I doubt that the jobs were ever going to be all that wonderful. I gather the US version has been criticised for seriously misrepresenting the winners' roles.

Basically, Sugar gets one years free use of an employee (the salary was paid by the production company - i.e. indirectly by the BBC - i.e. indirectly by us). As such he can put them in a £30,000 job and still come out on top.

If it were a true apprenticeship the winners would be given a variety of roles to gain experience in a larger range of business activities.

Even then, though, it would not be surprising if they left within a couple of years. The brightest apprentices would often want to set up on their own or gain further new experience rather than stay with their original master.

It appears this forum read the first leak on 26MAY2011 about Stella giving notice to Viglen, but the media would have got wind of this eventually. If the Apprentice was not good enough for the job, or the job was not good enough for the Apprentice, either way the outcome did not play out the motivation theme of The Apprentice -- that a Sugar job was worth dying for. Not surprising that the bitter pill was hastily sugared in damage limitation.

It appears that apart from Tim in 2005 who stayed 3 years, all other Apprentices quit within 2 years. They've all got their own websites and "businesses" post-Sugar, but it is questionable whether that was thanks to exposure before 8 million viewers, or thanks to working one year inside Sugarland for £100K before tax. Indeed many who were fired on the programme got more benefit from untrammelled self-publicity than Apprentices necessarily kept quiet when holding down Sugar jobs.

Chris Bates has a very sexy and kissable lips!! I agree with another poster who mentions about his chest hair. He needs to workout a bit though (then, he'll be perfect).

Siara did a BBC feature on Pakistan, which went down like a lead balloon, never seen again.

It was excellent if you are interested in India and Pakistan.

The comment 'never seen again' is irrelevant. It wasn't a pilot for her to go around the world doing geographical programmes. It was a one off based on something that would be a natural special interest to her.

I found that SK programme interesting.

what they do now suggests that many of them wanted a crack at the media rather than business. however, business can be a legitimate way of getting to understand the media - I've learned a lot about radio, print and electronic media through being asked to participate because of my business knowledge. it's better to have some celebs come through a programme which required some skill rather than vacuuous stuff like the later Big Brother series.
