If I remember correctly, he was a grey New Zealand horse who went on to do duty at Buckingham Palace....or am I thinking of another horse.

(personally I think they should declare odds based on the bet required to return 100

eg
evens = 50
4 to 1 = 20
4/6 = 60

that way you would just add the odds to get the total overround.

There's a good chance Grand Canyon was NZ bred - a fair few of Kent's horses were sourced from that country. As for Buckingham Palace I really cannot say.
