I love the sport and the characters connected with it.
![]() Cecil, Sir Henry - I was curious about The Great Man and knew that since his renaissance Prince Khalid was the benefactor for most of his success. I had not realised that of the 35 Group winners Sir Henry has trained during the past five years, as many as 29 belong to the Prince. So despite his renewed elevation to the top table of trainers he doesn't seem to have attracted many good horses from other owners (the Niarchos family owned 3 of the other 6 Group winners but they have been with him for a while). Any trainer so reliant on one owner is vulnerable, and if Prince Khalid loses his enthusiasm for racing (or dies - he's 74) then I think Sir Henry will retire. |

I did not know that jm, but I do recall SHC telling an interviewer that he hated being an also-ran during the dark years, and I'm guessing he wouldn't want to do that again.
