Well the way I see it saying she's not flavour of the month at the moment would be understatement of the century. This stuff with Jean could potentially redeem her a little in the audiences eyes as they're having the chance to see she's not just a walking affair waiting to happen. Then suddenly the minute she becomes a little less hated BAM affair. Plus it looks like she's gunna make a fairly big deal outta this roxy/alfie shiz and kick Roxy out then go have an affair herself. It's beyond crazy to me. I hate to say it but the number of people routing for "Ralfie" is just gunna increase tenfold.
And soz I don't mean to continually bitch about Alfie, except I kinda do because I can't stand him, but I'm so sick of the way he's just getting more and more popular with every episode whilst Kat is becoming more and more hated. Let's recall the days she was iconic before he had even made his first appearance now it feels like when they leave he will go down as an even bigger EE icon than he was since his return and she will just be remembered as a slapper. No-one's looking to remember the complex character she once was because they won't have seen it this stint. It's no secret I've always felt the Kalfie relationship just suffocates Kat as a character. Don't get me wrong I liked the whole man in the Moon stuff and them getting together and I'll probably get shot down for this but I even liked the whole her being forced to sleep with Andy thing. It was a great way of linking back to the abuse of her past and the whole Alfie not wanting to go near her etc was actually really well done and pretty much cemented her place as one of the greatest characters because she had the whole audiences sympathy, her and Alfie both did but more so Kat because she did it for him. I think when Kat came back in 05 her and Alfie should have remained friends. Mofie was cringey to watch but it was okay because they left together and in the end and it was a nice way to end their storyline. BUT the minute I heard they were returning it's like, realistically what is Kat going to do tied down to a husband and a child. I know there was better ways they could have handled it but even with the best writers it would have taken away from her character because she's not supposed to be a wife/mum she's meant to be a complex, isolated woman with love inside her but no-one to love her. They should have kept them apart if the only thing they can come up with for them is affair stuff it's just insane to me. So far since their return she's had his cousins baby, slept with what 2 guys? He's been on the brink of considering Roxy even admitting to her if it was just Kat he would leave he's only remaining loyal cos it's Kat/Tommy/Slaters. I just genuinely don't know what the writers are thinking. I thought Kat was beyond repair, I was willing to give a little chance though when Jessie mentioned she was going to come back a little changed but hearing about this bloody affair makes me want to tear my hair out. Who wants to spend the next six months watching Kat tarting herself up for someone whilst no doubt putting Alfie down whilst he does puppy dog eyes left right and center. Why not just make her leave now before killing the character completely. Shouldn't have returned at all IMO they were best left in the past.
I had forgotten how much I loved Kat and all the Slater stories back then - I was so excited to be able to rewatch and remember! I hadn't been watching Eastenders for a long while until I found that channel and then I caught up from Kat and Alfie's return - she does seem very different if you watch the old clips - like the same actress playing a different character but I am still a fan and hopefully things will change a bit now!
It's such a shame that she's going to have yet again another affair soon
