How much do the Corrie cast members get paid?
After reading about Corrie bosses offereing Michelle Keegan £130k a year to stay with the soap, I was wondering how much the other cast members get paid?
And does it depend on how long they've been with the show or how popular the character is with the bosses? Eg. Does Barbara Knox get paid more/less than Katherine Kelly etc? Basically, I'm just a nosey b*stard. |

The actor who plays David Platt recently signed a new six figure salary contract as well.

I'm sure I remember hearing Betty Driver was on a £100k. Imagine! Turning up once maybe twice a week, delivering a line and earning that!

I remember that for a long period of time, Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan) was the highest paid star on around £240,000 but around two years ago, Anne Kirkbride (Deidre Barlow) was given £260,000 in order to ensure that she remained with the programme.
William Roache (Ken Barlow) is setting a world record with every episode he films for being the longest serving character so thats an incentive in itself. I guesstimate that he will be on around £200k. Sam Aston (Chesney Brown) was on £40k for his first two years on the programme but reportedly went up to £90k a few years ago, and has probably creeped up since then too. |

Back in the 90's The Sun revealed on their front page what each of the big hitters at Corrie were earning and it caused some ructions in the cast. Infact the actor who played Mike Baldwin was on the front page of The Sun the following day hold up the previous days front page with the tagline...'how come Rita earns more than me!'

I think the likes of Emily and Betty get paid by the episodes they do only.

I think in general the cast of Corrie are paid less then their EE counterparts.
The BBC has an advantage of a larger pool of cash courtesy of the TV licence payers, to pay their stars more. Wasn't Steve McFadden on something silly like £350k a year AND STILL wanted time off to do the lucrative panto season (greedy Bstard!). |

No character is ever irreplaceable so it amazes me why they keep getting thrown money to stay. |
