Ha, just discovered them at the bottom of the freezer.

Sell by date, October 2008.

Do you think they'll be any good? They still look fresh?

Depends. When they are cooked/defrosted they may have freezer burn or may go immediately stale.
Only one way to find out.

I was just wondering if I'd be poisoned.

Eat them, then if you survive, post here later on.
If we never here from you again, then we can assume the worst.

Don't eat them D: Feed them to your dog [if you have one].

If you froze them as soon as bought them, then go for it, you won't get ill so just try them to see if they've changed in taste and report back

What if the dog is ill?

My guess is they won't poison you but taste and texture might not be so good.

UPDATE: Thawed them out last night. Grilled them, ate a piece but it tasted like cardboard!

Obviously, the taste had got right out of them. Experiment over.

You should have grilled them from frozen then they would have tasted like paper mache instead of cardboard.

If they seem okay when defrosted I'd eat them.

My local co-op are doing 2 packs of 6 Warburtons crumpets for a quid at the moment. You can't beat them fresh. Lovely, soft and fluffy on the day of purchase. For the sake of some pence buy them fresh.

And not all crumpets are created equal. Asda own brand crumpets, for example. Horrid, thin and tough.

A Warburtons crumpet with butter, or with crunchy peanut butter or with Philadelphia .... that's the way forward.

I can just imagine Morrisey singing, to the tune of Girlfriend In a Coma:

'Crumpets in the freezer
I know I know, they're cardboard'..
