Her best song to date IMO - an emotional song with a thought provoking video about mixed race relationships.

WHY wasn't this song huge????

Because it's a rubbish song and she's done many more that are miles better - its an insult to even put this song in the same league as try sleeping with a broken heart and fallin'

I love this song! It was a decent sized hit in the US. The video is amazing!

wow, Alicia looks so beautiful in that supermarket scene
Thanks for bringing this song to my attention..I like it. Reminds me of a song that could have appeared on Songs in A Minor.
Put It In A Love Song was awful.

It's not her best but it is still a great song. I love Alicia-she's one of my favourite singers.

I like it, but it's not her best. Not even the best on the album. The video's great though.

P.S. Put It In A Love Song is shit.

For some reason the song just hits all the right spots for me - also love

You Don't Know My Name (my 2nd fave A Keys track)
Troubles
Butterflyz
A Woman's Worth

Put It In A Love Song is one of her worst

I loved this track, I don't think it was strong enough to be a single there but it did chart at 21 in America and was number 1 on the R&B charts for 12 weeks. The song was a bit too R&B for UK radio though sadly.

well her album flopped. so did the singles as well. but it sold okay though. 4 million worldwide and 1.4 million in the u.s. the reason why it didnt sell because r&b music aint doing too good right now.

4 million copies is not a flop. possibly disappointing compared to her previous releases, but in the uk the album went 3 x platinum and had 3 top 10 hits!

it was on urban airplay, a monster hit. and black music rarely tops the US charts and it doesnt have the power it did 20 years ago.

yeah, i appreciate that. however, in the uk it was stronger than her previous two albums. without us success the numbers will be inevitably be down. however, the album was still successful here, due to her promotion of the album.

at least this girl can sell records because her fanbase grew up buying albums as she was around toward the end of music selling albums well. so her fanbase still buys the albums.

Unthinkable is a gorgeous piece of music imo (although it sounds like a Drake song).

I don't know why it wasn't a hit. Well, they didn't release it as a proper single I think. And it's VERY urban compared to Empire State of Mind and Doesn't Mean Anything.

I love Alicia Keys so much, she is soulful and talented can't wait for her new album this year!
Love this song so much, the video is very good as well.
They didn't release it here, but it was big in the USA, I wish artists would R&B based songs here as well and not just go for the pop route e.g. Alicia Keys - WTYSMS instead of Unthinkable & Kelly Rowland - DFW instead of LIOM

Been in love with this song since I heard the album.

This song deserved to be a BIG massive unapologetic hit but it never did get the push. The video was creative also so it deserves praise on that alone.

The whole album was bladdy amazing!

Weird thing is, this song is used in so many reality tv shows and is considered by many fans as their favourite Alicia song, yet it never made an impression on the charts =(
