Going to outfit my new room with a new home theatre system, what do people think of the kit below?

Sony STR-DB2000S receiver. Silver - £313.91
Sony KV-32FQ86 TV, with cabinet - £662.93
Sony SA-VE835ED speakers - £382.97
Sony RDR-GX7 Multi-Region DVD recorder - £394.00
2 x IXOS XHT801 Scart to Scart cable - £42.54

Is it really best to buy everything Sony?? I am sure you can get better performance for your budget if you decide to use different brands.

Get a life. Surely if you spend as much time in front of your telly as needed to justify that expense, then something is wrong with the social side of your life.

That's OK - I just thought... £1k5 plus all the crisps.... I find this is a lot (let alone the crisps).

Hi,

I would go over to www.hifichoice.co.uk and look around on their forums.
Sony are OK, but lower end Marantz, NAD, Technics would probabally be better.

Or go to www.homecinemachoice.com and see the best devices that suit your price and budget.

Better still grap a copy of the mag. Explains a lot for building the best audio/visual system for really any budget.

Your system is just OK; I am sure you could do better though.
