Just watching Three Men go to Venice recorded last night on BBC 2 and the Audion description is driving me potty ! I just can't seem to get rid of it even though it's disabled in the menu ?

From http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Disabled...ome/DG_4018341

Quote:
“There are two methods of receiving audio description. The description can be carried on the same channel as the original programme. It can be broadcast on a second sound channel which contains the audio description.

The latter system allows more flexibility as one person can listen on headphones whilst others watch the programme without audio description. It is also possible to change the volume of the original programme and the audio description soundtrack independently.

The AC3 (Dolby Digital) or stereo lpcm (mp2) audio used on digital satellite is not capable of adding an Audio Described capability within the same audio stream and maintain compatibility with existing audio kit. HE-AAC adopted for Freeview-HD is.

That all sounds very technical and I'm definitely not ! Why has this started happening all of a sudden on recordings as it never happened to me before?

Not sure why. It could be a quirk of the new firmware V1.00.15 but it's never affected me so as I can't repeat the problem this is pure speculation. After using the speaker button to swap to the correct track is it happening on other recordings ?

Yes it is. After watching Three men etc I then watched Thailand Tourism recorded from BBC 3 and had to go through the same procedure of using the speaker button

Right, make a note of your recording schedule and do a factory reset. Hopefully this will sort it out. at least for new recordings.

Any changes you have made to default preferences will need resetting

eg

Epg genre display suppression
Any non-freesat channels you may have added will have to added again
The volume output defaults to 50%
crid codes displayed in programme info.
Dolby Digital downmixing on/off
If you have used customise channels these will need re-applying

etc etc
