What was your first music artist/group while growing up
Ok so what was your first band/artist that you got into as you were growing up? Were you influenced by others in your choice (parents etc).
Mine was Oasis. I clearly remember buying their albums and listening to their tunes while growing up. Still listen to them now - quality. I just sad that I never got see them live I guess I'll just have to wait for the reunion tour lol

A-Ha, aged 6 - I was obsessed with Take On Me. Even went as far as writing to them requesting a poster.
Swiftly followed by Madonna (for Dress You Up/Borderline), Diana Ross (Chain Reaction) and the Bangles. I wanted a poster of Diana Ross too, in that dazzling red fantail dress, but my sister never did find a fan club address in Smash Hits no matter how persistently I pestered her to keep looking ![]() Yes, looking back there were no indicators looking back that I would turn out gay...

British girl group 'Eternal' were the first artist/band that I truly became a fan of, loved everything about them from their music, videos, performances, dancing, image etc. They really were the full package. I actually still listen to their Greatest Hits album , and a lot of the songs have truly stood the test of time.

hmm, I can't name only one band, I had at least three favourite bands when I was very very young:
Scorpions, Bon Jovi and Roxette

Steps and S-Club 7. They also remind me of those cringey secondary school discos where all the guys site at one side of the room and the girls at the other. If you got to dance with someone you were a legend.
I still remember the slow set at the end of a disco when I was about 13. It was "Never Had a Dream" by S-Club. Sooo cringeworthey looking back.

I would say he was the first artist I remember as Bad was released and asking my parents is 'he really famous?' It sounds silly but even as young as I was I could sense there was something special about him. He seemed to have a completely different aura to other artists, perhaps it was his music videos and his movements.

I listened to plenty of music as a kid, but the first artist I really obsessed about was Robbie Williams when I was about 11. I loved Life Thru a Lens, and I sort of liked his second album, but then I lost interest for whatever reason.
I loved Five around that time as well.

First artist I was aware of was Diana Ross & The Supremes, due to my mum playing their greatest hits lp on every sunday to clean the house, (the one with the blacked out cover with x3 pairs of lips/microphones).
Others would be Elvis/Boney M & Hot Chocolate - again thru my mum. The first band I actively pursued would be Abba around the time of 'Money, money', but I remember going mad over Sally Oldfields 'Mirrors' & Sailors 'Girls, girls girls'... ![]()

Spice Girls. Then I like Britney, S Club 7 and Westlife. Britney was the one that I was the biggest fan of. I was a bit obsessed with her and wanted to be her.

Boyzone
sometimes I do feel a random urge to listen to my old CDs of theirs! I still know most of the words, and the band members' birthdays too

Abba-and Kenny. It feels quite odd mentioning the former, who were gods in the musical pantheon, in conjunction with the latter, who were such a minor band, but they were the first two groups I recall consistently liking.

A-ha were my first love! I was about 3 when Take on Me was released and I used to make my mum play her Hunting High and Low cassette all the time! I still really like them now and I've seen them a few times live...and actually to meet them about 5 years ago. It was a very fast signing at HMV and I had to queue from about 4am but those few seconds were the stuff my childhood dreams were made of!!!
I also idolised Jason Donovan for many years!!! I wanted to meet him SO badly and my walls were covered in posters - sigh!! Then it was Take That and Boyzone......it makes me feel really really old that Take That's first album was released 20 years ago!!!!!!!!!! And yet here I am, 20 years later still screaming my head on at their concerts
