Almost forgot I started this thread! Seems to be a lot of love on here for people/groups like S Club 7, Steps, Spice Girls, Madonna etc. Sad thing is I used to listen to this lot too while younger , not as much as I listened to Oasis though - thank god

Like a few others have said about themselves, my tastes have certainly matured as I've got older. Still funny though to remember what you used to listen to, especially if the music was/is really cheesy.

^^ Same here. Love music like this now, especially when the artists write their own material, play their own instruments and sing about a range of topics - far more likable and far less cheesy than some of the stuff I used to listen to.

Oh god, don't remind me

Were they the ones that sang the song with the lyrics that went something like "The Vengaboys are coming" or something like that

I remember when I was really young I enjoyed listening to Michael Jacksons songs. And then like most little girls of the 90s came 'girl power' and the Spice Girls were my favourite. I even remember dragging my older brother with me to the cinema just so I could see 'Spiceworld'. And then when I was 9yrs old or so I became obsessed with the boyband A1. When I hit preteens my taste imo improved (although Michael Jacksons song aren't bad I still listen to them) and I got into more rock /alternative type bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they have been my favourite band ever since

Spot on.

My own fault for not writing in complete sentences. Bad habit.

When I was 4 or something apparently I was a big fan of Sheryl Crow. And then afterwards I moved on to the Spice Girls. Although how you jump from Sheryl Crow to the Spice Girls still confuses me, even now.

Bucks Fizz I used to get up really early before my mum & dad were awake, switch on the old Betamax and watch this concert of theirs we'd recorded off the telly, over and over AND OVER again. I must have been about 4 as I know I wasn't at school yet.

Thought they were positively god-like, I did. Cheryl Baker edged it for me though - clearly the best one.

Reading back through this thread has jogged my memory even more lol

My first cassette was a Michael Jackson one

First CD - Gina G - Ooh ah Just a little bit - it was a xmas present lol. This was about the time of the Spice Girls.

Then S Club 7 about 11 or 12 years old and also Steps.

13 - dance music (I had a holiday in Ibiza, Sandstorm - Darude still reminds me of it!)

Then around 14/15 I got into Blink 182, Sum 41.etc

16 - old classic rock. I got 'the best air guitar album in the world ever' parts 1, 2 and 3!

17 - Linkin Park/Limp Bizkit/Disturbed

uni years - fratellis, pigeon detectives, rasmus as well as the above

Post uni - 30 seconds to mars/mcr.etc As well as cheesy 80s music

now - most rock except really heavy metal, but enjoy glam rock as a new thing.(recent ones as well as old ones)

I want Apache at my funeral to accompany the coffin arriving! Saw Cliff and The Shadows in 2009 and worked out that their combined age at the time was 274 The concert was amazing-it was just seemed 'right' for them to be back together. It was a real tonic too, as it was only a few weeks after my mum died and it really put a smile back on my face

Growing up in the mid 60s, the first singer to make any impression on me was Elvis. My Mum's sister was in her late teens, and she used to take me to the cinema to watch all the corny Elvis films and I was obsessed by his music until I was about 13.

Then David Cassidy came onto the scene, and he was the first pop concert I ever attended in 1973 - full of screaming teenyboppers - I loved it

When I was a kid I listened to all that pop shite, but my first proper love was Eminem and Blink 182 still love them both now.

I was so obsessed with Eminem I was about 10 and remember listening to The Marshall Mathers LP constantly I bought loads of books about him, had tons of posters talked about him to anyone that would listen I thought he was incredible!
