Samsung Galaxy S2 - Apps & Email
Just wondered if someone could help..
I've just ditched my iPhone for a Galaxy SII and so far, am pleased with my decision. Still got a lot to learn and get used to but so far so good. 2 things I'd like to resolve quickly (coz they are irritating me) so hoping someone can help: 1: There is a (1) against the Samsung Apps icon indicating there is an app available (I assume). When I select it, it turns out to be an "update" for something to do with Take That. Strange, as I don't have (or want) a Take That App. The only way I could clear the indication was to install the app - but when I removed it, the (1) indication reappeared. Anyone know how I can clear it? 2: I've set up my Yahoo! Email on the phone, but it won't show anything over 2 days old (or thereabouts). I can't find a setting that will allow me to change this - any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Well....I don't use the default email app either! I think there's a Yahoo Mail app out there....having a quick poke around, can't see a setting. Tried it with my old yahoo mail account though, can definitely see emails back to at least 2 weeks ago. Thanks in advance. So no help at all, other than to say mine does neither of those things! (Mine was unbranded from Carphone Warehouse, running Android 2.3.3) |

I have moved from the iPhone to SGS2 and like you am pleased with it...
Get the K9Mail app from the market. It's much better than any of the dedicated mail apps IMO. The Take That app is in the Samsung apps and is just an ad for their tour basically. Just update it then if it installs just uninstall it. |

Cheers for the replies - I installed the Take That App, removed it, then Samsung Apps advertised it as an "update" again!
Going to shove Samsung Apps onto a page far away from the stuff I am using. Finally got the podcasts going today, so all that's left is to wait for a decent Monopoly game (used to love that on iPhone) and Cricket Captain from ChildishThings to become available on Android. |

Just hold your finger on the Samsung app then drag it to the bottom of the screen into the bin that appears and it will go from your home screens and still be in the Applications App (If that makes sense) should you want it ever again.

LIke others here I have ditched the ip4 in favour of the SG2S. Only had it a week and so far I am well impressed with it.
I too use yahoo mail. The first time I set it up it would receive but not send. I removed the account and set it up again. This time it works fine. I think you need to be either fired up on a WiFi or 3G network at the time to allow the phone to get the correct settings. I would have liked it to update new mails as they came in rather than the minimum check every 5 minutes. On another subject...I've started importing MP3's to it. Does anyone know how to attach Album artwork? |

Don't Yahoo do push email? Check in the settings to ensure push is selected.....
Download 'Album art grabber' app from the market place it will go through your music and add the art..... |

It seems to be working. The Art Grabber is a great tool. Thanks. Am now a little further in my quest to get my SG2S the way I want it. |

I found K9Mail to be better than the stock email....I also changed my SMS to GoSMSpro which is free at the moment. |

Sorry to be a pain...
I've noticed that the email in box on the SG2S seems to empty on it's own accord. I know my in box has about 50 messages and always displayed on the [cough] iP4 but they don't on the Sammy. They are still available to view via a pc however. I only use webmail via yahoo. Any ideas as to what is happening anyone? |

Are you using the stock email programme and have them pushed to your phone? Without knowing your settings it's difficult to tell why that is happening. Go through them and see if anything stands out...
I find K9Mail to be better than the stock app. |
