ALDI COLESLAW and other bargains!

their coleslaw is awesome! has anyone tried it?
i love their biccies too!

we do our main shop at morrisons but i've been using aldi for the odd bits and bobs lately and i havent any complaints so far!

the only grumble i prob have is that they dont have a great area by the till for packing your bags, but thats about it!

their fruit and veg is ok, too i've had a bag of carrots for over a week and they're still v fresh!
morrisons carrots seem to start going off after a few days, the ones in the bags anyway

I shop regularly in ALDI. Apart from some vegetables I always buy my cooking foil, clingfilm, butter, creme fraiche, tissues and chilli sauce there. Also, their £2.99 Merlot and Chardonay are perfectly OK for cooking. The savings, compared to say Tesco, are substancial.

Their Pear Cider is nice, bought loads of other bits from there too, never had a bad product from them

The Taurus cider is nice.

I also like their deli meats.

Passata, german bratwurst, peri-peri sausages, coleslaw, milk is only £1 for 4 pints, frozen pizza aren't bad, dishwasher and washing tablets work well and 1/2 price of branded ones. Fruit and veg is mostly cheaper then the supermarkets, lasts longer and tastes just as good. Just have to pick and chose.

As for packing, you are supposed to put the stuff back in your trolley and pack on the side where the shelf is.

I would expect their coleslaw to be good, as Aldi is a German supermarket. Might check it out myself.

In general I find Aldi (and Lidl, another German supermarket) to be cheaper than the big supermarkets, especially with their own branded goods, of which there are many.

I like their tuna and chili pasta salad. I find people can be quite snobby about Aldi food. It seems to win a lot of awards when magazines test food against other stores.

I've heard good things about Aldi products but I think their business model is to open in sites where their overheads are low and that rules out most town centre sites in my area. I'm sure the (quite well off) locals here would be happy to shop in Aldi but rents are high here so we get M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury's instead.

I've never been to Aldi (don't even know if they have them in Northern Ireland?) but I like Lidl for cooked meats and cheeses. Their smoked salmon is seriously good and really well priced, too.

Mine too.

I love their £1.99 frozen pizzas, they've won quite a few awards for them. Not too fussed on the bases of their cheaper pizzas though. Love their continental meats as well. Wouldn't recommend their cheese nachos though. I once left them out overnight after a party and the house absolutely stank of dog the next morning!

Aldi & summerfield/co-op are the only supermarkets on our high street. We have to drive to get to tesco, sainsbury, morrison or asda.

Only recently started popping in there after recommendations on here. Was particularly impressed with my purchase of a pack of 2 (fresh/chilled) chicken legs (with thighs) for 99p a couple of weeks ago! Meant to pop in again today but couldn't quite manage it...

Their Multigrain crackers are very nice and they have sugar free sweets, suitable for diabetics, at 99p for two packets, cheaper than other places by quite a margin.

I live virtually opposite an Aldi, and am always in there.

Love chicken, and the two legs for 99p are a bargain, as are there choc ices, wouldn't recommend their cat litter though.

Just bought another tub of their creamy coleslaw this morning, it's fab!

Had a BBQ at the weekend and my sister brought Tesco creamy coleslaw and it's not a patch on the Aldi one... and no doubt double the price.

I always do my main shop in Aldi then nip across the road to Morrisons for the odd thing Aldi doesn't stock.

I really like the pear cider too. I also rate their passata, cooked coninental meats, cheese, frozen pizza's. I usually also pick up a lot of treats like chocolate, biscuits, chocolate nuts and raisins. I also like the wine from there.
