OK so she is planning ANOTHER new album for later this year.

Is she trying to break a record or something? she pumps out albums faster than I've had hot dinners..

I really think this chick needs a break.

It's a rerelease isn't it? And isn't a new album every year and a bit normal?

I have no problem with the quantity of music she releases. The quality however, is very hit and miss (for me anyway).

2005 - Music Of The Sun.
2006 - Girl Like Me.
2007 - Good Girl Gone Bad.
2008 - Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded.
2009 - Rated R.
2010 - LOUD.

I know many artists have released albums year after year, but with Rihanna it's just pure desperation. It's not like she writes or produces her songs, so she has to get them out there before she moves on. It's for the sales. I don't think her team have enough faith in her, as if she's going to fail if she doesn't keep herself out there ALL THE TIME.

Last year we saw Rihanna's "triumphant" placeholder while Gaga, Bey (etc) were working on their nexts but now they're back she's just famewhoring.

S&M video? Man Down video?

I am a fan but she does seem a bit desperate. And don't get me started on that Britney "collaboration".

Whats more interesting is that despite all her single/album success, she still doesn't appear on Forbes!? her label take all her money, and she probably doesn't know about it.

I think Def Jam got worried after Rated R and so released Loud to make up for the sales, and it seems to be working. I think shes at that stage now where she can take 2 years off and come back with an amazing album, she is capable of it.

Her do her albums sell genuinely? i would have thought given the amount she puts out that she'd be on big numbers?

She seems to release one song after the other. Okay, her singles from Loud so far I've enjoyed better than the ones from Rated R but I do think that 4 or 5 singles from one album is a bit much.

I notice that radio stations have cut back on playing S&M remarkably quickly. It therefore feels like it was released rather longer ago than around March this year. Pity, as I was just beginning to like it.

After Man Down she'll probably do Raining Men or/then move onto the rerelease and/or next album.

And the S&M video reeks of desparation....like she was going for weird and edgy and it came out more like cheap and tacky I love Man Down though

With an act like Rihanna, because there's minimal creative process (people constantly writing for her and shopping around for hits) it's easy to churn out an album a year...and I think all involved have taken the piss a bit with how quickly they churn out the next product. There's not even a pretence of effort on her part.

We're talking a matter of months between albums, because they release so many singles and re-release.

I'd understand it if she was a new artist, or one still riding on her peak, but she's pretty established now. They must really not have a whole lot of faith in her, but I guess that's the curse of being a singles artist. You're only as good as your last hit.

We saw that explicitly with Rated R (my personal favourite of hers). Faked depth/artistry but as soon as the singles weren't hitting #1, Rude Boy was thrown out there (a song completely out of place, a clear safety net) whilst they ditched all the edgy stuff and rushed out LOUD as soon as they could. They lucked out on getting such megahits there, but she lost any creative credibility in my eyes. She returned to being a hollow popstar, but a likeable one all the same.

We'll probably see her next album before the end of 2011, tbh.

I wish she'd stop whoring herself out so much...ok we know your career was heavily controlled and restricted in the early days and that Chris Brown beating you changed you but the over sexualization thing is getting a bit tedious now...

I was really bored of her during the time period from September 2010 (release of Only Girl -generic, dull video, bad performances) to April 2011 (S&M remix)
But then, she released CKB, which is a very good ballad IMO and the video was amazing and of course Man Down, which I'm not fond of but it's really unusual as a sound. I loved her Rated R era until Rude Boy(the point when her label took FULL control), so I've deduced that when her label calls the shots (radio friendly songs etc), she's boring but when she takes the lead and experiments, she's amazing. Her ballsy approach to Man Down has made me interested again in what she will serve in autumn for the Loud re-release. I'm expecting a generic lead single, but then Loud has sold 4 million + ww so her label might have given her a bit of more creative control (judging from the Man Down video) I'm on the fence, but I may be surprised.

I don't think Raining Men is ever going to get a release. It was sent to Urban radio TWICE and flopped and it's not going to do well on Mainstream, so I suspect it's not on the cards

I LOVE Rihanna, but I do think she needs to slow down...Loud was a pretty poor album considering what it could have been if she took a little longer to make it...

She's basically relied totally on Ester Dean (who must be on first name terms with all her local bank staff) for hits, literally half of Loud was written by Ester and StarGate...it just seems kinda lazy, and listening to the demos, RiRi didn't even put her own spin on those tracks...

I think she needs to seriously think where she is going with this next album if she wants to be taken seriously, there wasn't a single song on Loud that didn't scream sex sex sex, and whilst that works in the short term, it doesn't bode well for her longevity...

Rated R had very good material, and she actually used a variety of different producers and writers, but unfortunately, the label and her management marketed it totally wrong and released all the singles too soon...I'm looking forward to see what she does with LoudR, but if its just based around that godawful Katy Perry collaboration, I won't be impressed...

How is it desperation? Rihanna has said herself that this is what she loves doing so why would she want a break from it. I'm sure she could easily afford not to release another album at all but it's what she loves to do so why complain? Rihanna was also the executive producer for Rated R and Loud and seems to be a learning a lot from every album she does. At the end of the day, fair enough, Rihanna doesn't write songs for her albums but so what if that isn't where her talents lie? Some songwriters aren't talented performers, it doesn't mean we should force them to perform does it?

One of the best-selling artists of all time with more than 30 million records and 100 million singles sold. If you read Rihanna's twitter feed she is having a blast, the kind of life she could only have dreamt of.

http://www.forbes.com/pictures/eeel4...nna-29-million

Rihanna ($29 million) in the last last year - The Barbados-born singer grossed $1 million per night in 38 shows over the past 12 months; added more with strong sales of new album Loud, digital singles more.

Rihanna earns millions from her concert tours. She plays arenas everywhere - fans are in little danger of going of her. She constantly reinvents herself.

I couldn't think of any album in less need of a re-issue. It's had 5 singles, will not doubt tag 'Who's that chick?' on making 6, so what we'll get another 8 single album from her?

Whack out a greatest hits and get lost for 3 years.

She loves it, her fans love it and i love it!

from gggb onwards i have been a massive fan of her. I must say Loud was a bit of a massive change up from Rated R, a phenomenal recording, BUT it has been very commercial I think that she can after her current high grossing tour have a bit of a break and churn out a creative affair of an album I know she is capable and she gets written off one heck of a lot!

Its not out of desperation and to be honest I find her very refreshing also! she kicks arse!

Because music fans - especially pop music - are very fickle these days it's good business sense to release things close together. Leave larger gaps and people will move on.

I cannot stand Rihanna's music, but I see the business sense behind it.

How dare someone want to make money doing something they love. Even worse, other people are enjoying it too!!!

Don't like, don't buy.

It's quite bizarre, because I remember the gap between her third and fourth albums seemed to be massive, but now suddenly she's about to release her 6th album, less than two years after that gap!
