My own experience with Melody

Melody and I have many mutual associates in the youth empowerment sector. A couple of years ago, I e-mailed her about a PAID youth leadership project I had just started co-facilitating.

I asked her if she wanted to get involved, and judging by her previous work, it would have been right up her street. But I got no response, not even a simple "Thanks but no thanks." Perhaps if the Dalai Lama had been organising it, I might have got a reply

She is not coming across well in this series at all... Her ideas are not well-received, she has misled her fellow contestants about focus group results, and she is not a team player. She steamrollers her ideas forward, even when they happen to be inappropriate e.g. the role play pitch... Melody's only redeeming feature is that she is quite a good saleswoman.

How do you explain her behaviour then? I can't see Athena acting like that

Maybe Al Gore desperately needed her help with something at the same time?

Perhaps the email address was wrong? I'm scratching head over why she didn't respond.

I'm not the biggest Melody fan in the world, but seriously - it's an email. People forget to respond to emails all the time. She might have been distracted, or it might have got lost amongst her other emails, or she might just have kept putting it off until responding would have been ridiculous. Haven't you ever forgotten to reply to an email, really?

It was definitely the right address, as I got an Out of Office Auto reply.

Not when someone is offering you work that you claim is your bread-and-butter. Gift horse and mouth? No-one has ever complained that I didn't respond to an e-mail within a reasonable time...

I'm not saying that it wouldn't have been preferable to respond, but does it really matter that much that she didn't? It was two years ago, she probably forgot to send a note of thanks for letting her know, and it's not a big deal. I don't even remember emails from two years ago.

Edit: also, nobody has ever complained that I didn't respond to an email, either. This isn't because I respond to every single email ever; rather, it's because most people just don't care that much about this stuff.

Maybe there is a clue there as to why she didn't respond.

I love the way some people believe that just because they spent some of their own time sending me an email, that automatically gives them the right to demand I spend some of my time sending a reply.

Nonsense. I always reply to stuff that is sent to me while I am away.

Frankly, if you really wanted her input into the project, you would have followed it up with a phone call.

Melody is currently bulk-emailing people and institutions with an email address (who might have links with the Youth Empowerment Sector) to try and get them to use her services. I'm sure she is hoping that those emails get a reply. It is a very oversaturated market and there won't be as many government projects as there have been recently, so perhaps she should check her own inbox occasionally. However, as she is so well connected and has so many awards, I'm amazed she has to try and drum up business in this way? Seems very odd

I dunno... Most Greek Gods and Goddesses thought that the world revolved around them and spend their time misleading Mortals.

If Melody is currently touting for work, can we assume she is not in business with LAS? Therefore not a winner despite the glowing reference from the Dalai Lama?

I asked several people for her number, but no-one had it. I have several friends who run their own businesses and consultancies, and they ALWAYS respond to work-related e-mails ASAP.

Also, Melody is essentially running a COMMUNICATIONS consultancy, so what message does it send out if she isn't, well, communicating?

Does that mean she didn't win the Apprentice? If she's working on her current job I take it she didn't go into partnership with Sugar.

I think it's pretty safe to say that there is no way Melody is going to win.

Sugar may make some potty decisions from time to time but not that potty.

I would say that is pretty clear, yes. I can't see it being a double bluff
