Channel Five are to spend £6 million on Charlie Sheen for Celebrity Big Brother:
http://twitpic.com/5z1jip/full He'll certainly be a lure for some viewers. I know it's The Daily Star but they are linked to Channel Five. (Thanks to herejohno and d0440er on the BB forum for the link) |

I remeber hearing that when his madness first started, but lets face it, thats never going to happen, one of his gfs on the other hand, thats far more likely.
Plus despite press interest, does anyone in the UK really care about Charlie Sheen, the show isnt exactly well known over here. |

I think The Daily Star are just hyping. I'd never rule out anything with Charlie Sheen - but it won't be for £6m. It'd make him the highest paid TV star in the UK this year.

I think his breakdown is more known about than Two and a Half Men here.

No chance of a record breaking audience in the Sun 1.30pm slot.
Depends how much intro/outro, what other sporting competition exists, etc. |

Superb piece of casting if true. Get Charlie in there and it will be huge, no question.

which is odd, why would we care about the breakdown of a celebrity who isnt well known over where, fine the British papers gave plenty of coverage to Britneys break downs, but we knew who she was, she had even been on a few UKTV shows. This is simply not the case with Charlie Sheen.

But £6m does seem incredibly high... surely even Charlie isn't that demanding. |

I think the British public just like to know about celebrities going bananas, whether they're aware of why they're famous or not. Hence the desperation behind certain tabloids to get scoops first.

Agreed, it would be unmissable TV!

The article doesn't even say he is getting £6m for going on BB (if you read it carefully).

Desmond's got the cash... something people on here seem to forget. 57th wealthiest person in the country!
But £6m does seem incredibly high... surely even Charlie isn't that demanding. I am pretty sure Charlie Sheen is now all calm, and may be regretting what he did, as he isnt being taken seriously anymore. Going on CBB is not going to help with that. |

It sounds like a deviation on Odd One In. Are the BBC trying to copy ITV's Light Entertainment approach? I can see the point of copying The X Factor/Pop Idol but Odd One In...really???
Though saying that Odd One In doesn't collapse in an early evening slot like it could've done. The Harry Potter films appear to have supported it over the last couple of weeks. Penn and Teller had a stable but low-ish audience; I hope it gets another chance on a better night. Everyone'll be pleased to see the back of The Marriage Ref, though if it could get 1.8m on, say, a Monday night 10.35pm it'd probably be seen as a success! The details about Pros and Cons don't make it sound like Odd One In because the people involved will actually be doing their job and not just being stood there in a line. It sounds like it's going to be a spectacle, not another panel game which is too insubstantial for Saturday night. Quote:
Why the late film? Why not air the FLS at 10.30/11pm ish. Save the cost of the film and give lower league football a higher profile for a week.

Looks like Dragons' Den did really well last night: Quote:
Dragons' Den beat everything at 9pm last night, including a new ep of Law & Order: UK on ITV1.

Dragons' Den had 4.3m (18.6%).
Source: Sam Hodges Fantastic rating for the show, its highest ever. On another note, Born To Shine only had 9.9% share last night, according to Paul Brassey. |

Genius idea by BBC Two to schedule its two biggest programmes back-to-back on a weakish night for BBC One & ITV1. Terrific ratings for them.

Channel 5 beat Channel 4 again in primetime for the second consecutive evening.
Cricket highlights were a big draw with 1.29m (6.6%), thrashing A Place in the Sun's 740k (3.8%). |
