Great night for Ch5 with the Cricket boosting the rest of the schedule. PI is on the way up and that's the best rating I've seen for a Monday film repeat in a while.”

I don't see why they just didn't steal some of ITV2's summer programming. Yes, it would have been repeats but the brands are stronger. ITV2 are repeating Benidorm which would have been good value on ITV1, especially as its summer, whilst a repackaged Xtra Factor Best & Worst could have been a good addition in the lead up to X Factor. Both shows could have got over 3m on ITV1 and saved them the embarrassment.

Homes From Hell would have been better on a Monday with a Corrie lead in. It didn't work out last night but its dependent on the type of show for it to work and it could get them respectable figures of around 3.5m.

8.6% audience share for The Ninth Gate?

Channel 5 really are on fire at the moment, that movie is TERRIBLE!

Seriously, terrific result for the cricket as well. Channel 5's perseverance with the Cricket on 5 strand along with England's good performance of late is really paying off for them. A cracking start to arguably Channel 5's most important month since its launch in 1997.

If it was BBC1 spewing out these crock of shit flops, particularly the big name entertainment ones, I suspect there would be more of an inquest on this thread. And sheer delight and triumphalism from some.

I note the TXF downplaying of expectations/blatant underpredicting has commenced...

Anyone got last night's repeat for Torchwood figures?
Thanks

Such as?

I try to include the ratings I think most people will be interested in. I've stopped including Neighbours recently because it seems to have found its natural level now on Eleven at or just below the 400k mark so there's not much variation from day-to-day, but I will start including it again if you want.

Big week down under this week, I'm dubbing it "finale week" since both AGT (tonight) and MasterChef (Sunday) are on the way out.

And Castaway's 2007 revival on BBC One.

What a record!

The New Tricks figures need to be adjusted.

Half way through (certainly on HD) they showed the entire East Enders intro credits blocking out half of a scene,

So I guess East Enders technically might have beaten New Tricks last night if you factor in the 30 seconds that it aired around 9.20 pm !

Seriously, though, there was no apology at the end for the (presumed) technical error. Somebody pressed the wrong button at an inopportune moment.

Are the beeb recruiting staff from ITV HD?

The cricket highlights did great for Channel, 10 times the slot average. This should be proof for Channel 5 to cut the 7pm News and to an extent OKTV and replace it with factual shows. Meerkat Manor did alright but it's essentiially filler, the film did alright but they did advertise it unlike xXx the night before,

a 3 hour is X-Factor is laughable, and shows the lack of depth in ITVs bull pen, as for the idea that the BBC will have to scheulde SCD around it, well I think some people will find symapthy for BBC, if that scheulde continues, to say nothing of when BBC also has Doctor Who on the scheulde.

Still I look forward to TV Burp.

DigiGuide Update... Channel 5

Wednesday 16th
2000 New Series: The Batchelor
2100 NCIS (R)
2200 Kiss of the Dragon

Thursday 17th
2000 Croc Man
2100 Cowboy Builders
2200 The Truth About Cheryl Cole

Friday 18th
2000 New Series: The Gadget Show
2100-2300 Celebrity Big Brother 2011

I reckon in the final schedule NCIS (R) will be bumped so that CBB follows The Batchelor. The Cheryl Cole doc on the Thursday can easily be bumped also.

A two-hour show on the Friday is interesting. Surely they won't be having an eviction that early on?

It's possible. But Brian has been adamant on Twitter that it's the 17th. And he would know!

Big Brother's Bit On The Side will be airing directly after the main show every weekday, according to Emma Willis. So its not just about bumping one programme out of the way for Big Brother but the entire night if rumours that BB is going back to 9pm are true.

I think Channel 5 are still thrashing stuff out and there will be lots of changes in the finals because at the moment the schedule doesn't add up. I would take that c e l e b r i t a i n.com article with a pinch of salt though, reads like something straight out of a tabloid.

True. Although if that were the case, what would happen to Cowboy Builders that week? Dropped completely?

Is BBBOTS airing on C5 or 5*? I thought it was going to be a sister-channel spin-off? Seems like quite a bad decision IMO if they air BB in the competitive 9pm slot every night with the spin-off at 10pm both on C5.

A plum slot but not for comedy - why it isn't on Fridays I don't know.

Wouldn't be the first time though plans for a live final have have to be changed - could simply move the rest of the series to 10.35pm and repeat one of their three-part dramas for a few weeks.

Seven promoted The X Factor during AGT, but a good point made by someone on TV Tonight that they should have got it into the schedules next week to give the early stages a bit of a boost off the back of AGT's success.

Surely though it'll be the Bit on the Side - so on 5*.

If it is on 5 although a two hour launch isn't out of the question it could be 90 minutes of BB then 30 minutes of BOTS.

Its going to air on Channel 5 right after BB and will be an hour long. The whole thing seems quite badly thought out and they seem to be treating it as the same monster it was 5 years ago. They should launch BBOTS on Channel 5 before moving it to 5*. Such a show could really help them begin to cement the channel alongside ITV2, E4 and BBC3.

CB could air at 9 as usual, with CBB at 10.

Channel 4's Wednesday schedule is TBA incidentally from 9pm through to 11:05pm, so I'm not sure what they are planning to counter, possibly a movie of some kind.

The Twilight premiere possibly? Digiguide currently has that down for Sunday but C4 could move it to Wednesday before the schedules are confirmed tomorrow.

Ooh, that would be evil.

I've said for many months that C4 are a big worry for me and this is precisely why! They cannot schedule effectively against it every single night, but perhaps for the launch they will look to dent it as much as possible. (and dent their offerings in the process, as Twilight would do better on the Sunday)

New Tricks was fine all the way through on BBC1.

In this instance, I think C4 would definitely accept a dent in Twilight's figures from what it'd be capable of on another night in order to dent CBB. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to dent C5's first ever BB airing rating, and the smaller the launch rating C4 can ensure BB gets, the higher the chance of the highlights shows rating lower and obviously that'd be great news for C4. If C4 were really evil though, they could've commissioned a one-off Gypsy Wedding special for that night which would've been even worse for CBB!
