There was quite a bit of advertising thrown at Cowboy Builders as well, and that delivered a strong result, so that doesn't really support your second point.

How so? Their share of viewing is actually up year-on-year in the most recent week of official data, whilst ITV1 and Channel 4 are both down. More importantly, the channel is significantly more profitable than it was this time last year. So please, enlighten me as to how it's in a "worrying" position as you claim? If anything things would appear to be on the up.

Making ill-informed comments like this I can only assume you haven't watched many programmes on Channel 5. But well done, comments like the above will make you very popular here. Good job I'm not here to make friends.

Oh look, another sweeping statement with no attempt to give examples. Luckily I can give two very recent examples of my own to contradict what you're saying: Walking The Amazon was a brilliant two-part documentary that looked at Ed Stafford's record-breaking mammoth trek across the entire length of the Amazon river. Not only did this programme rate well in terms of audience, it also scored highly in the Appreciation Index with scores of 82 and 87. Submarine School, part of the current 8 O'Clock Heroes strand, was another highly praised documentary series that recently aired on the channel. "Abysmal" is not a word I have seen used to describe either of these two programmes.

Not been confirmed. More details on this year's coverage of Big Brother will be revealed in due course. Until then, the hissy fits that continue to dominate a certain sub-section of this forum are a waste of time.
