'Sirens' Episode 2 - 1.18m including +1

That's a hefty drop of over 650,000 (36%) week-on-week. Channel 4's search for the next Shameless continues.

I wonder what viewers didn't like about it? I must admit I found the first episode to be pretty good and I thought it would go down well with C4's usual audience.

Excellent for New Tricks. I expected around 7m with the hot weather. Seemed to dent everything else, but Embarassing Bodies still put in a decent performance and at least Restaurant Inspector was at the 1m mark.

Strong for Dispatches, but Sirens looks like another Ch4 flop.

The soaps held up OK. Emmerdale inparticular considering the awful quality of last nights episode and other recent episodes.

Surprising to see Hollyoaks well above 1m considering all the other soaps were down.

New Tricks is on at a later time though. If EastEnders was shown after 9pm it would make much better ratings.

Would be interested in the 5pm hour ratings last night. Pointless of course making it's debut on BBC One.

Super stuff for New Tricks. It must be one of the few dramas on TV that launched in 03/04 and has held virtually all of its audience ever since! Seeing ITV1's 9pm rating vindicates their decision to put Show Me the Funny there from 18th July - no point putting Law and Order against New Tricks again, it would get crushed.

It reminds me of NCIS in America. Just as popular now as it was when it started, in fact it's moreso.

Yes, I'd like to know what Pointless got on its BBC1 debut too

Because there were more people watching TV at 9pm - Eastenders got a 36% audience share at 8pm = 7.7m, New Tricks got 35% at 9pm = 8.3m. So if Eastenders aired later and maintained it's share it could have got 8.5m+...

Many that watch it seem to like it but it just isn't connecting with the viewers in large enough numbers.

Don't buy it really, ITV never put up strong competition for Eastenders in their slot. It's prime-time for a reason. It's a big IF anyway. Eastenders probably benefit from younger viewers being able to watch. It has simplistic plots that appeal to the Young, IMHO.

Amazing numbers for New Tricks. Virtually no hype, press coverage, column inches, you tube homages, twitter chat or any of that other nonsense - just a bloody huge audience. And given how many times its repeated - I sometimes wonder how the audience finds the new series at all! Obviously Monday has worked its magic and the other channels have jumped out of its way. I was of a mind to think that NT should have gone to Thursdays to leave the way clear for Torchwood, closer to US transmission next week - but you can't argue with numbers like that.

Just goes to prove the audiences are there at this time of year if you can only find something to attract them with. In fact, along with The Apprentice, BBC One has perhaps its two strongest 9pm offerings on-air at once for the next few weeks.

Article on C5's multimedia plans for Big Brother - including voting via Facebook.

http://www.nma.co.uk/news/channel-5-...028103.article

It says the show will debut in 6 weeks and appears to suggest that rather than run a live feed on the C5 website, there will be constant video highlights on the website and on Facebook. In addition they hope to launch a Demand Five iPad app in time for the shows launch.

"Channel 5 is the first broadcaster to establish such a tie-up with Facebook, having embedded its TV catch-up player Demand 5 on the social network as part of its syndication strategy."

I can't remember who it was but someone was saying Channel 5's social media strategy wasn't very strong a few weeks ago. These plans sound quite impressive.
