Have you for other ratings from peaktime last night dubsj ? Looks like ITV1 had a poor day yesterday. I wonder how low Born To Shine began and how much L&O UK was dented by the excellent rating for Apprentice?

According to dsrealitybites, last night's Apprentice averaged 9.06m (9-11pm).

Previous two 9-11pm final averages were: 8.74m (2009) and 8.29m (2010). Officially, it'll end up becoming The Apprentice's most watched final to date.

Born To Shine on ITV1 began with only 2.8m (10.8%), according to Paul Brassey. Poor start.

Also, The Open Golf peaked at 6.1m (31.3% share), according to Kevin Bakhurst.

Wow, The Apprentice thrashed everyone last night! Fantastic peak!

The Apprentice Final broken down into its 2 hours:

Year......Hour 1...................Hour 2.....
2009- 9.82m (37.9%).... 7.66m (36.1%)
2010- 9.48m (32.64%)... 7.1m (31.64%)
2011- 9.83m (35.82%)... 8.27m (36.96%)

The first hour rated quite similarly to the last two years, about identitical to a couple of years ago, but the You're Hired bit did significantly better than previous years. Looks like by having 4 people in the final, more people were willing to watch You're Hired as it wasn't as drawn out as previous years. Broadcast says that it's The Apprentice's 2nd highest ever rating because the semi final in 2009 had 9.22m (38.66%) but last night's episode might timeshift more and end up being the show's most watched episode, even with the You're Hired bit bundled into the average.

Anyone know how Family Guy did last night? (It was a 'special' but delayed by 50 minutes due to over-running football)

Fantastic for the Apprentice topping off a great day for BBC1. Top Gear seemed to perform very well too.

Awful start for Born To Shine and I can't see it increasing really. At least the shows either side performed decently. L&O held up as well as could be expected and it will be back above 5m next week. The Royal also had a boost from more people watching TV, because the share is lower than in previous weeks. Hopefully ITV will advertise the last ever episode.

Australia performed well considering the length and a fantastic performance from Finding Nemo- I didn't realised it performed so , but the early evening films seem to well for Ch5. Was it ever reported how Matilda did last week? Because they had a poor primetime performance, but the all day share was pretty good IIRC.

Wow at those Apprentice figures, particularly the great numbers for You're Hired.

I do though think the show is holed below the waterline now, given the format change which meant ten weeks of the usual apprentice-searching tasks followed at the very death by the final four doing their Dragons Den pitches. And when all four came up with useless ideas, it turned the whole thing into a joke. Surely some of the previously.sacked candidates had better ideas to put forward?

Good for Top Gear, its last rites having been read on here just a fortnight ago.

Law and Order held up ok at c4m against a 10m BBC1 audience.

Glad that Law and Order UK did well; it was another good episode last night and seems to be settling into a Sunday slot.

Sensational ratings for The Apprentice. A fantastic end to another great series. These figures prove that for whatever reason it is better suited to summer, real event TV amongst the dross elsewhere. I'm surprised a few more didn't stick around for the news though, given some of the big developments yesterday.

Ouch at 8pm. It's kind of weird how much difficulty ITV1 are having with that slot at the moment given later this year it will be delivering their biggest audiences of the week. L&O: UK held up fine though.

I knew this wouldn't perform as well as Marley & Me. Too long and clearly the partial Apprentice clash wouldn't have helped. Still did well though.

Terrific rating for Finding Nemo. Channel 5's most watched programme of the week, and well up on the ~2m rating it got last year! (BARB split it up into two parts, but it was definitely under 2m in the overnights)

That is right, the all day shares seemed to suggest Matilda did quite well. I guess we'll find out later when BARB update the officials. I doubt it did as well as Nemo though.

Channel 4 has acquired 5 new US shows from this year's LA screenings: Homeland, New Girl, Apartment 23, Napoleon Dynamite and Allen Gregory.

Only Homeland will air on C4, whilst the others will be shown on E4. Jay Hunt, C4's creative chief officer, said: “Homeland is a compelling contemporary thriller that will compliment The Killing and both New Girl and Apartment 23 will add to E4’s reputation as the home of the best of US comedy.

Not surprising choices, Damian Lewis is in Homeland, so the show obviously has some British appeal.

I am really looking forward to Apt 23 and New Girl so glad they've been picked up.

I did think ITV were tempting fate giving a show the title Born to Shine. With little more than 2.5m viewers, I wasnt wrong....

Is that the Melanie Sykes comeback show?

Brilliant rating for the Apprentice. Found Natasha Kaplinsky odd on Born to Shine. Has she spent the last six months under a hairdryer?

I really like Mel. She's brilliant on Radio 2. However, the new chat show with Gino is destined to fail.

Quote:
“Adrian Chiles's Daybreak presenting duties have been cut down to four days a week.

The 44-year-old will no longer host the Friday edition of ITV's breakfast programme alongside his former One Show colleague Christine Bleakley, a spokesperson confirmed.

"When we signed Adrian in 2010 it was always planned as part of the contract that he would move to four days a week on Daybreak in the second year of the show," the ITV rep clarified.

Although a replacement presenter has not yet been announced, it was reported in June that BBC Breakfast favourite Chris Hollins was being sought to fill Chiles's role.”

So why did Chiles kick up such a big fuss when the BBC said they'd replace him with Chris Evans on Fridays, then sign a contract with ITV whereby he'd eventually go to 4 days a week anyway? Doesn't compute.

Super day for BBC1. I actually find the Golf peak more amazing then The Apprentice peak but they're both great in their own right.

Poor for ITV1, but to their credit The Royal and Law and Order: UK held up solidly.
