Problem is ITV don't commission shows these days before 6pm or after 10pm. What was the last multi part series they commissioned that was aired after 10pm on ITV1?
You'd be going back to 2007 and before News at Ten returned I think. |

Also, what is it? Is it a straight comedy show? In which case, why is Dermot O'Leary presenting it and why are they booking Geri Halliwell? But if it's not a comedy show, why is it on after the watershed?

And more recently than that Perspectives, also on Sunday nights.
Thing is, I think it would be better suited to ITV2 myself. Penn and Teller and Odd One In are fine, but Marriage Ref needs to be dumped. It's 7 episodes long, already 2 episodes in and it is at 1.7m. Stick on a Doc Martin repeat or something, it would get at least ~3m I think considering the ITV3 repeats are getting ~0.8m. |

in some way I guess its a worry for all the soaps, and all long running shows, what happens if a generation simply doesnt bother to get into any of the Big 3 soaps? Its not like the young generation dont have plenty of other things demanding their attention. Once people start to watch TV on the computer, or on a laptop, it reduces the chance that their young siblings or children will see it, which im sure is how many people get into soaps
Hello again, Charnham, I know Coronation St does have a bit of a hand me down nature where I live, a fair percentage of younger people watch it because their parents and grandparents did, but the days when the big three soaps were must see television are over. Except for the diehards, a lot of people can skip a week's worth of soaps and not worry- although the amount of omnibuses and repeat showings mean they're easier to catch up on. |

Pointless rating here: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...6&postcount=50
It used to be an incredibly strong part of their schedule, getting the best ratings of the day - but yesterday was a highly unimaginative, well past it's best schedule. Unfortunately I don't think they'll bother trying to improve things now, new programmes on BBC Two daytime seem to be heading for the axe entirely. |

Thanks. Fairly okay for Pointless - on a par with Weakest Link I think? Interesting to see BBC Two's late afternoon ratings falling off a cliff.

Just got back from a press screening of Show Me The funny, very strange show - not like I expected. It's less The X Factor for Comics and more The Apprentice for comics.
It's actually quite funny, not because of the stand up though but in the same way The Apprentice is funny. The two judges work a bit like Nick and Karen with their looks and comments from the sidelines, then there's all the awkward and cringeworthy remarks and actions and there's even a sterotypical "token character" (jim, stuart baggs, etc) There's even a little "boardroom" type segment at the end The actual stand up only lasts for a tiny part of the show, the majority of it is taken up with the contestants going on tasks "with hilarious results" also: Not a family show, which surprised me, a lot of swearing and 'adult humour' |

Pointless won its timeslot exc. +1s. New episodes of Escape To The Country now air on BBC One too, right?
So yeah, that doesn't leave much left for BBC Two once The Weakest Link ceases production. It's a shame as it used to be the strongest part of the schedule but is now not valued at all. |

New Tricks goes from strength to strength. Not many dramas can say they are still getting massive ratings after seven years. I bet ITV would kill to get their hands on this show as it has a high ABC1 rating.

Awesome figure for New Tricks. Last night's overnight was already higher than any of the official ratings for last year's series.
Just dont know why it does so much better in the summer. |

21:00 - New Tricks: 8.3m (35.0%) 22:00 - BBC News at Ten: 5.8m (28.4%) 20:00 - University Challenge: 2.4m (11.2%) 20:30 - Antiques Master: 1.7m (7.8%) 20:00 - The Unforgettable Frankie Howerd: 2.9m (13.3%) 20:00 - Landlords from Hell: 1.8m (7.2%) 21:00 - Embarrassing Teen Bodies: 2.4m (8.4%) 22:00 - Sirens: 1.2m (5.9%) 22:00 EastEnders 0.83m (4.1%) 22:30 World's Craziest Fools 0.85m (5.4%) Strong ratings for C4 from 8.00-10.00pm, but Sirens dropped big time - I watched the first epsiode but missed last night's another one to see on catch-up. Finally World's Craziest Fools beating Eastenders on BBC3, Mr T ideal as a host - a lot of previous shows depended on Youtube clips, but I had only seen one or two before from last night. The show does make the BBC3 top 10 on occasion, not quite Family Guy numbers but impressive. |

If Sky could bid on TV Burp when its contract with ITV was up for renewal, could ITV not do the same with New Tricks, when its contract with the BBC is up for renewal?
I would say 100% New Tricks is safe on BBC1, moving channels mid series causes repeat rights issues and DVD sales rights issues. |

it may not be common, but I see no legal reason to prevent it. You talk about Sheds good relationship with the BBC, I suspect that kind of thing is what keeps shows moving channels like footballers move teams, wanting to keep that good relationship.
I also think that viewers wont take to it, and any change will in their opinion ruin the show. |

The Teatime Battle
BBC1 17:15 - Pointless Celebrities: 1.8m (15.3%) BBC2 17:15 - Escape to the Country: 0.7m (6.3%) ITV1 17:00 - Dinner Date: 1.1m (9.8%) * +1: 100k Channel 4 17:00 - Four in a Bed: 1.6m (15.7%) * +1: 190k 17:30 - Come Dine with Me: 1.7m (12.8%) * +1: ~100k Five 17:00 - 5 News at 5: 0.6m (5.6%) 17:30 - Neighbours: 1.1m (8.5%) So in order, it is about: 1) BBC1 2) C4 3) ITV1 4) C5 5) BBC2 I can't see Dinner Date remaining in the teatime slot after this series though, it'll probably be moved back to 12:30pm with Loose Women going on a break whenever it is on like what happened last year during Summer. |

Come on Baby Hospital, you can do it! Your mere presence on this list must be causing agony to some folks
PS why are there only 5 in the lower rated shows this week? Just curious! 6. Daybreak ITV1, Fri 01 Jul, 06:00 70.6 7. Dinner Date ITV1, Thu 30 Jun, 17:00 72.1 8. Miami Vice ITV1, Fri 01 Jul, 22:35 72.3 9. The Marriage Ref ITV1, Sat 02 Jul, 21:00 72.9 10. Dinner Date ITV1, Wed 29 Jun, 17:00 73.8 So the entire bottom 10 is ITV1. Saying that This Morning maybe somewhere in there except it 'failed to record an AI' for the entire of last week. |

Networks poaching programmes is not common here, in the US if a network drops a show they do sometimes end up on a rival network. New Tricks is produced by Wall to Wall - part of Shed Media, they have a good realtionship with BBC1, they also make Who Do You Think You Are? and The Apprentice. They have had dealings with ITV1 the most recent was You Don't Know You Are Born in 2007.
I would say 100% New Tricks is safe on BBC1, moving channels mid series causes repeat rights issues and DVD sales rights issues. The Apprentice is made by Talkback Thames. Shed Media make quite a lot for BBC1 - New Tricks, Who Do You Think You Are, Waterloo Road, Garrow's Law and now The Voice plus some short run documentary series. For ITV, they make Long Lost Family and Shed Productions used to make quite a lot of drama (Footballers Wives, Bad Girls and the ill fated Rock Rivals). |
