Clearly not too upset at Glee moving to Sky - all 5 of those shows are made by FOX (Apartment 23 will air on ABC, Homeland is produced by FOX 21 for Showtime).
I wonder if new series of HIMYM were included, I remember when Channel 5 acquired Joey, they got Two and a Half Men rights as part of the deal.

Will be interesting what is acquired next, Person of Interest I think will be picked up by either Channel 5 or Sky.

Of course, most people will never realise the connection so they'll probably get away with it, but Freeview viewers should really be careful before getting into any of the above shows. Ch 4 have time and time again demonstrated they have commitment issues when it comes to these big U.S. shows and Fox have a preferred UK broadcasting partner in BSkyB.

Homeland would have been better suited to More4 but good acquisitions for E4 - New Girl and Apartment 23 are probably the most hotly tipped new comedy series this season (although it was quite a surprise that Apt 23 was held for midseason).

I wonder if we'll see:

9pm - The Big Bang Theory
9.30pm - How I Met Your Mother
10pm - New Girl
10.30pm - Apartment 23

Could be quite a strong comedy block for Thursday nights.
While all I have seen of it is the extended trailers, New Girl looks like it has a good chance of being a medium sized hit for FOX and it should certainly fit in well to E4's schedule.

I think it would have made a good partner for the X Factor on Wednesday nights ('I Hate My Teenage Daughter' looks terrible) but I guess they felt it would do well in the post-Glee slot.

I wonder if E4 will establish another comedy block? Maybe New Girl and Apartment 23 on Mondays and BBT and HIMYM on Thursdays. 2 Broke Girls would be a good fit on E4.

It's a shame that Channel 4 dont include American comedies to their Friday Night comedies as they're not exactly filled to the brimmed with British shows.

According to SRO, the live final of 'Show Me The Funny' will be on Thursday 25th August. The rest of the series airs on Mondays. Wonder why they decided not to have the final on Monday too? Seems a bit of an odd scheduling decision. I guess it might not really matter if the weeks leading up rate badly anyway.

I hope they have tied up HIMYM - that and The Big Bang Theory will be the best hope of Friends replacements.

One reason why I think Person of Interest could go to Sky is that Sky would probably also be interested in Alcatraz and might bid for both of them from WB.

Warner Bros and FOX definitely have the best options for UK buyers, IMO.

“Homeland is a compelling contemporary thriller that will compliment The Killing and both New Girl and Apartment 23 will add to E4’s reputation as the home of the best of US comedy.
I suffer bad spelling on forums but not from so called professional publications!!

At least none of the shows are going to 'fuzzyvision' More4!!

since he was working 7 days a week quite a lot of last year I dont think so. Linekar gets nearly the same money from the BBC for one day a week and gets to hold down a 2nd job with AJ so I think quite a bit of the snipping is just the usual begrudgery.
It makes me wonder why he took on the Fridays in the first place. I know without them it would have meant he'd have been down to just Mon/Tue on away Champions League weeks, which would look a bit daft for a high-profile signing, but it's exactly the situation he's going to find himself in now.

I think he'd be better off getting a regular day off by ditching the pointless Sunday night show (the one without the ads), and only doing one tie from each weekend of FA Cup coverage.

Something special planned for the Bank Holiday on August 29th, maybe?

Channel 5 have a relationship with Warner Bros so they may have first dibs on any new shows from them. Alcatraz I think would go to Sky1, it has the same vibe as Lost and Fringe.

Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if they air Poirot: The Clocks on that night, as ITV seem to air the Marples/Poirots on Bank Holidays these days.

Could be Poirot but I think they might want that at Christmas. I think they might air Appropriate Adult over the Bank Holiday weekend as it was filmed a while ago and I can't really see where else it can go in the Autumn.

As for Show Me The Funny, it's an odd move but it was originally pencilled for Thursdays and when they shifted it to Mondays there musn't have been room to shift the final. I can't see it doing well but I think they'll be fairly satisfied if it gets similar numbers to The Biggest Loser.

That's the week after, September 5th, but that's TBC officially.

You'd think Funny would do better than Born to Shine because Mondays at 9pm tends not to fall under 3m even when New Tricks is on, but I happened across a trail for Funny, and it looks bloody awful, so who knows?

It's one of those shows that is very hard to predict, anything from 2m to 5m is possible.

It's one of Digital Spy's "5 Not To Miss." But then, The Marriage Ref featured in said column a few weeks ago so we'll take that with a pinch of salt at this stage...

I may give it a try tonight as not much else is grabbing me at 9pm. But I think the best ITV1 can hope for realistically is The Biggest Loser style numbers.

Various sources on Twitter saying that Celebrity Big Brother will launch on Thursday 18th August. This is obviously still unconfirmed, but it does seem like the launch will be on either that night or the night before (one source was suggesting 17th Aug). At least they're not launching it on the 10th, as originally reported, which would've been a scheduling own goal up against an England match.

Somehow I dont see Barrowman moving to ITV, hes a pretty loyal guy.
Come on Mr Murdoch - make amends to the nation by signing up Mr Barrowman on a 25-year exclusive deal with Sky.

Channel 4 has acquired 5 new US shows from this year's LA screenings: Homeland, New Girl, Apartment 23, Napoleon Dynamite and Allen Gregory.

Only Homeland will air on C4, whilst the others will be shown on E4. Jay Hunt, C4's creative chief officer, said: “Homeland is a compelling contemporary thriller that will compliment The Killing and both New Girl and Apartment 23 will add to E4’s reputation as the home of the best of US comedy.

Source: Broadcast
Must say most of those series don't ring a bell from the upfronts, and can't see Homeland finding much of an audience - more ITV4 than C4 IMO. I do think though C4 are better off looking at cable - so Showtime, AMC, TNT and Starz, rather than networks for US drama, although they could do with one or two network shows to prop up the schedule.

Clearly not too upset at Glee moving to Sky - all 5 of those shows are made by FOX (Apartment 23 will air on ABC, Homeland is produced by FOX 21 for Showtime).

10pm - New Girl
10.30pm - Apartment 23

Could be quite a strong comedy block for Thursday nights.
Also ABC's Happy Endings too - though it would be great for E4 to commission their own high-volume original comedy for the slot too.

I guess the two animated comedies will go on Tuesday nights.

I think they always planned to air it on a Thursday with Law & Order on Sunday and Single Handed on Monday, but swapped the latter two around when they saw where New Tricks was being scheduled.

Speaking of Law & Order - that's a good figure considering the dire lead in and the opposition. It should bounce back to the 5ms next week. Born to Shine got what it deserved but The Royal held up. The rating of the night has to be The Apprentice - that's a superb figure for a two hour show, an hour of which was actually You're Fired. Channel 4 and Channel Five also had reasonable nights; I have the feeling the bad weather benefited the other channels as people stayed in; not all of them would've been reality fans. BBC2 will be pleased to see Top Gear record a healthy figure and Coast did well too.

If it does launch on the Thursday, I wonder if Cowboy Builders will move to 10pm that night and get a CBB lead-in?

Could be a bumper evening for Channel 5, and maybe that's what they are thinking too!

What time would the show start, do you think? 8.30pm?

That's a tricky one. The last CBB launch show on Channel 4 was 80 minutes from 9pm. I'd imagine they will keep it roughly the same.

I know it's geeky of me but I honestly cannot wait to see what the C5 schedulers come up with. So many options. But a Thursday launch to me sounds good, opposite all the dramas on BBC One/ITV1/Channel 4 that between them will probably only have around 7-8m.

I reckon Cowboy Builders will be rested for a week but the run should be nearly over by the time CBB is due to start,

I do think Back to back Big Brother is too much unless they shorten the main series because if it runs until December then starts up again in January with CBB, it will cause fatigue.
