That is so Lazy the sort of thing which should be on on a Sunday Morning not in prime time.

Sugartown, Sunday 10.25pm, BBC1
After 10 minutes of this gormless show you'll feel as if you're caught up in a dreadful theme park ride that hurls you through dank tunnels of cliche....
....a nice chap owns the rock factory which is in financial trouble. By the time you get this far, you will have lost the will to live...
Sugartown is one of those 'comedy dramas' (that is, it's neither)....
Sugartown made me hurl, such are its powerful emetic properties...
It made me want to die.

that is going to flop so hard.

How can you have a "50 Greatest Harry Potter Moments" when chances are, they wont be alllowed to use of the moments from the final film.

Typical of her to sit on the fence.

How come Cops of Camera is being slammed as the ultimate in cheapo flop programming, when Traffic Cops on BBC1 is seen as a good strong show, it's practically the same format?

Running new drama in summer is a big risk. Even if you start it in June, you've got a good chance of Wimbledon overrunning knocking out a whole episode, a few weeks later, there's a heatwave, so nobody watches and then at some point during the run, there's a good chance many viewers might be on holiday, so many might not bother to watch at all as they know they will miss the last 2, middle 2 etc.

Next year, maybe ITV should commission a summer weather programme hosted by Sian Lloyd, Dan Lobb & Jason Manford. That should be good for 5m to tune in.

Emmerdale Farm used to have a six month break 30 years ago, but back then it was only considered a minor part of the schedule and only became a hit when the Farm bit was removed from the titles. I can't imagine ITV1 wanting to ditch a guaranteed ratings success for 2 months and replace it with New You've Been Framed.
Remember, the alternative for ITV1 is far worse than ditching two shows that guarantee at least 7 million viewers and putting in filler shows, that while probably very cheap to make, won't guarantee the same revenue.

Emmerdale Farm hadn't even started 30 years ago. And for the first few years it was only on at lunchtimes along with Crown Court, General Hospital and a couple of other daytime soaps (Southern TV's 'Together' and Thames' 'Rooms').

Together's second series went out live!!

It's being going since 1972, so that would make it 39 years since it started.

My mental arithmetic is poor. I was just about to edit. Thanks.

When did it go to evenings?

First broadcast on 16 October 1972. It was originally conceived and broadcast as a daytime programme in an afternoon slot, becoming an early evening programme in 1978 in most ITV regions, but excluding London and Anglia, both of which followed in the mid-1980s. Until Christmas 1988, Emmerdale took seasonal breaks; since then it has been broadcast year-round.

The 6000th episode is happening in August!! Thames didn't want it in primetime it seems, not sure why Anglia didn't show it - so much countryside there.

BBC1 had a good night as always. ITV1 had a poor night as always. Maybe Channel Five shouldn't have repeated a show that had only been aired a few weeks ago.

“JASON Manford's new programme Show Me The Funny flopped on Monday - after a legal wrangle forced bosses to cut the comic's jokes.
About 1.4million viewers switched off the ITV1 show during its hour-long running time.
Figures revealed that it kicked-off with a healthy 3.6million including ITV1's HD channel, but ended up with only 2.2million.
And host Jason admitted that it lacked laughs, after his ten-minute stand-up slots at the beginning were axed.
His current batch of jokes are owned by Universal Pictures, who are launching his second DVD in November in time for Christmas.
Jason, 30, revealed: "They edited all my bits out. It's all very complicated.
"I've got a DVD coming out and I'm on tour, and a certain production company owns my sets."”

Moving News at Ten was probably the worse scheduling decision in ITV's history.

Both the article and the episode preview are funnier than I suspect the show is going to be.

“Jason Manford has denied his own stand-up was cut from ITV’s new comedy talent hunt Show Me The Funny because of a legal wrangle.

The Sun today claimed that the shows had been due to kick off with Manford performing ten minutes of his own material – but that Universal Pictures had blocked the move as they owned rights to routines that would be on his next DVD.

The paper quoted him as saying: ‘They edited all my bits out. It's all very complicated. I've got a DVD coming out and I'm on tour, and a certain production company owns my sets.’

But on his Facebook page, Manford has denied the story, saying: ‘I was never booked to do stand-up so no one has "edited out my gags".

‘The show isn't about me, it's about giving new comics a chance to shine on ITV1, hopefully securing them a bright future and an amazing prize.’

Quick question for ratings experts.

Last night we watched from our Sky+ the third episode of Mildred Pierce and the first episode of Nurse Jackie from Atlantic and the two part opener of The Killing from C4.

All these were originally aired the week before last.

If I was a BARB panellist how would these 'viewings' be recorded? I know individual programmes are only counted up to seven days, but would that 3+ hours of viewing be included in the 'total viewing summary' for the w/e 24/7 when it's published?

No, your viewing would be recognised within the raw files but be classified in what BARB calls 'uncoded playback' which basically means playback viewing outside of the 7 day consolidated window. This viewing does not contribute to 'Total TV' that you see in viewing summaries. So a bigger questions is should 'shares' be based on all viewing on TV sets or just viewing to television within the 7 day window (as it is now)?

My point exactly. We watch a lot of TV, but apart from news and sport, it's all 'scripted' on catch up from a couple of weeks ago.

In this day and age, it does seem strange that BARB panellists with viewing habits like ours are being 'excluded' from the published data showing the number of hours the TV is being watched and what programmes/channels.

I assume the broadcasters get this 'hidden' data?

"Highlights" of The One Show only got 0.1m viewers less than Sherlock (yes, I know it was a repeat - but still!)? I really have to wonder about people's taste
